Elohir Miriel |

Elohir moves to a clearer vantage to attack the creatures. With arms raised to the sky, he summons utter cold from the vastness of space itself and brings it down upon the nearest creature.
Move Action: Move to M10, gaining concealment from Shadow Walk.
Standard Action: Frigid Darkness vs. x3; 1d20+9=12 vs. FORT for 2d8+6+1d6=15 damage and the creature grants combat advantage to all of us till my next turn and takes a -3 to AC.
Probably missed so...
Immediate Action: Use Sacrifice to Caiphon to retain encounter power. 3 damage to self.
Elohir, seeing the ineffectiveness of his attack, looks at the sky and mutters, "Li'hee Caiphon!"
He winces in pain for a moment and a stream of blood runs down his face from his scalp.
Current HP: 53/56
Cursed Creatures: x1, x3

The badly wounded lizard shifts away from Irawaru's attack, then flees into the jungle. Its packmate does the same.
There is one dead creature, and three others making great haste, crashing through the jungles. All of you but Henrig are essentially healthy.
They hunt in packs, the one un-bloodied one isn't hanging around! Full credit, though.
XP:
4 large, nasty lizards (level 7 skirmishers)@300 = 1200
300ish posts of RP@5 = 1500
Total = 2700xp / 6 = 450xp each
Individual total = 7950/10000

Elohir Miriel |

Elohir, glad to see the beasts depart, lays down next to the tree he was standing beside. He seems out of breath, as if he had just run several miles. He closes his eyes and catches his breath. He is apparently unaware of the blood drying on his face.
"That was....unexpected....thought we would be safe until we were further in.....anyone know....what it was?" asks Elohir in between breaths, his eyes still closed tightly.

Hasnett |

Hasnett binds up any particularly obvious wounds and kicks Henrig.
"Get some sense. You too, death boy. You're no use to us in chunks."
"Hoku, you got any idea what those things were apart from big hungry lizards?"
Whoever needs a Healing Word can have one. Henrig and Aden spring to mind. You get 2d6+3 extra with those, which with decent luck could work out at two surges for the price of one.

![]() |

Henrig answers, "It would take more than a few #(*&@#$ overgrown *!$$ lizards to do me in." His groans of pain spoil the effect of the words. "But, yeah . . . .what the !$*( were those?"
Ryne speaks up, volunteering communication for the first time. "Ok. Ok. That's not right," he says agitatedly. "Those things don't exist. They can't exist. They're too big!"

Elohir Miriel |

Elohir makes it to his feet again and finally opens his eyes. They have gone back to their regular shade of green.
"Perhaps we should take a closer look?" he says and makes his way over to the fallen lizard.
"You know, if this island had been underwater then these creatures should not have been here unless they also have gills. I no longer think there is anything natural about this place at all."
"And Master Ryne, what do you mean they are too big? I have to agree with Master Aden in that such large lizards, as far as I know, are rare but not unheard of."

Hasnett |

"Henrig, we know you're a big mean ex-pirate. Clean the mouth. And Master Ryne, I'm thinking it's time a couple of questions got answered. Were you expecting small lizards like that?"
Hasnett's voice remains calm, but she's looking hard at Ryne, using her instinctive knowledge of people to try and get a handle on him.

Hasnett |

Hoku seems unsure why people are asking her about the big lizards.
"Wasn't asking you Hoku. I know you don't know about them.", says Hasnett quietly.
"I was asking our cartographer friend. He seemed to recognise them. Agreed, their names don't matter, but Elohir's right and there's a lot wrong here. I'd just like a little more information, wouldn't you?"

![]() |

"No, no," Ryne says, seeming to realize he's trapped himself. Speaking quickly, he continues: "I've heard of giant lizards, of course, like on Eransett. But Yon-Sin, he told me there might be things like this, but he talked about little ones, like big dogs. I don't know how he knew."

![]() |

"Anything else Mr Yon-Sin mentioned to you that you'd like to share?"
Hasnett's tone is still calm, but there's a bit of an edge to it.
Ryne gulps and looks around at the other for support. Finding none, he goes on in a gabble. "Not much that helps, honest. He said this island is in another place -- you know that, you saw the sun and the stars! He said we might find things here that you can't find in our world -- especially big lizards -- he didn't tell me how he knew. That's why he sent m -- us. He thinks he, or Master Xan, I mean, can get rich from what we find here. Maybe even capture some of the lizards."
"That's all I know!" the halfling wails.
Hasnett:

Elohir Miriel |

Elohir lets out a high pitched giggle at the notion.
"Sell big lizards? That is a niche market if I have ever heard one. But no, no, no, this island is likely much more important than all that. Something powerful brought this here or brought us here, or however it is supposed to work. This place is supposed to be important, and I intend to find out why. If you plan on hampering us over a few troublesome beasts then...," Elohir trails off, giving the halfing a disconcerting look, emerald eyes sparkling.

Hasnett |

"Don't reckon Captain Alice will thank us for bringing a big, hungry lizard on board her ship, Ryne. Think you've told us all you know as well. Little enough to go on. Seems we've got secretive folk paying us."
Hasnett looks at the group. "Time to be moving on. Let's be finding out more about this island and keeping a weather eye out. First rustle anyone hears, non-combatants gets back and stay back."

Elohir Miriel |

Irawaru grunts then nods, apparently satisified.
"Ah, we's in the spirit world. Gotcha." he says with an air of resolution.
"Hmmm....I would not rule out anything at the moment," replies Elohir, oblivious of the nature of the barbarian's simple answer. "Such places do exist. Personally, I still think we are on the material plane because of the stars. This is only conjecture of course."

Elohir Miriel |

Hasnett |

Nature check on big lizards (1d20 6=9)
"Hmm. Big lizards. Big, dead lizards." Hasnett notices less than Elohir.
"Straight ahead then, unless anyone's got a better suggestion. Towards the volcano, I think."
She exchanges glances with Elohir.

She exchanges glances with Elohir.
Elohir hesitates at the gaze for a moment, not quite wanting to lock eyes with the other half-elf, but he eventually affects a small smile, trying to be reassuring.
"Yes, the volcano. It is as good a target as anything."
A few moments later he adds quietly, mostly to himself, "I think something awaits us there, though I dare not guess what."

Elohir Miriel |

Elohir replies softly, a troubled look on his face now. The reassuring smile is gone.
Hasnett:

Hasnett |

Elohir
"Elohir, never make the mistake of thinking Melora's only kindly. She's part of nature and that's not all sweetness. She'll flood a land or dry it out as well as making crops grow and the fish thrive. I'm her servant, but I don't try to fool myself that her purpose is to let me live. It's just to do whatever she has in mind. We serve harsh masters, you and I."

Elohir Miriel |

Elohir chuckles for a little while before controlling himself. He is still talking in whispers but they eventually pick up in volume and Elohir's eyes start to go wide and frantic as he rambles....
Hasnett:
"...their presence, your whole perception of the universe may quake and crumble! What I do to my enemies when I place my spell upon them is only a taste of that gaping void where the stars and planets swirl and the great Old Ones whisper their terrible secrets!"
Elohir then goes quiet again....
Hasnett:
"We should go....NOW," Elohir says with some authority and starts walking. His hand trembles holding the familiar Tome at his side.

"No." This from Henrig. "No. No way. First these !*" -- a look at Hasnett -- "these things try to eat me, fight over which one gets to eat me, then you say we're in the spirit world, then you say we're walking into a VOLCANO?
"Not me. You suckers can keep my share, if you survive. I'm going back to the beach, and in nine days, I'm going home!"

Elohir Miriel |

"Not me. You suckers can keep my share, if you survive. I'm going back to the beach, and in nine days, I'm going home!"
"Do you really want to stay on that beach, alone, for nine days Master Henrig? Need I remind you that there are other people with unknown intent on the island as well as an apparent menagerie of dangerous beasts?"
Elohir, a bit perturbed, looks to Hasnett, hoping she will talk some sense into her friend.
"Whatever...make your decision one way or the other. We are wasting daylight."

Elohir Miriel |

"Daylight? Ah, come on haven't you ever wanted to trek through a deserted, problable death trap of an island... In the dark... In a spooky spirit world?" Aden jokingly interupts
Elohir smiles strangely.
"Not all of us seek the same 'glorious' death as you do, Master Aden. For some of us, the price of death may be more than just our bodies. Let us at least try and have some caution."

"Don't seem that redemption's been all good to you Henrig. Tell you what. You do and protect the beach. Maybe that 's more your level."
Hasnett speaks quietly, but there's no disguising the disappointment in her voice, to say nothing of the slight contempt at her old comrade's lack of courage.
"Whatever...make your decision one way or the other. We are wasting daylight."
Henrig doesn't seem bothered by Elohir's response, but flushes at Hasnett's words and tone. "Look -- I did not sign up to be eaten by anything unnatural. Granted, that's happened before, but at least it was in the real world! Now we're talking about volcanoes. No way."
Then, quietly, "I'm sorry, Hasnett."
Henrig hoists his pack and heads back the way you came.
