I give up. How do you say Iggwilv?

I don't know that I've seen an official pronounciation, but I always say it exactly as it is spelled, emphasis on the first syllable.

IGG - wilv.

The first syllable rhymes with "Egg", the second is "Will" with a "v" sound on the end.

Anybody do anything different? Interesting Q!

Most of my players just call her "ma'am". :)

I can only think of one way to pronounce that, i.e. exactly as it looks: IG-wilv

Bowing deeply and making sure you have enough fear in your voice to let her know how much you respect her. Also using her title "Your most terrifying magnificence, witch Empress of Oerth, mother of demons, etc. etc."

I have always wanted to stat her out even though I have no use for her.

You don't have to - she's in the next to last Dungeon mag. CR 30 iirc.

How do you pronounce Iggwilv?

Mistress, with appropriate amounts of fear. Some people emphasize the 'Mis', I tend to emphasize the 'stress', but that's a matter of personal accent.

Oh, and you only do so in answer to a statement. Otherwise your soul gets bartered away for more dark power in the most painful ways possible.

With a pimp-slap and a "B!tch betta have mah jeeps!"

And if the players decide to mess with her, she has Bigby's B!tch Slap ready to take them down a notch or two.

Better to die (albeit slowly over a four to five decade period) than to live on one's knees.

"Ignazia? Ignatius? Iggy? I wish you'd get married so you can change your name to something pronounceable."

That's how you pronounce Iggwilv.

What as Mrs Graz'zt? or would that be Ms Graz'zt? I wouldnt bring up that she had Iuz out of wedlock.

Which brings up the other point of how to pronounce Iuz. Personally, Iggwilv was always IG-will-v, but Iuz?

Is it "yuzz," "EE-uzz," "EYE-uzz," or something entirely different?

Per the WotC FAQ:

Iuz: YOOZ or EE-uz

(I use the latter)
