Waiting for an action from Grakl, clarification from Cenciarch (apologies I was unlcear) and a DC 17 will save from Yhum Yhum to avoid panic caused by Milaniel's moan. Saamasal has now vacated H15, leaving a clear path to the knight, the wizard is in the process of fleeing in terror.

Will save : 1d20+2 =9

Male Ethereal Dragon (Wyrmling) Conjurer 1 (ECL 7)

Okay, I don't move then.

OH Grakl was out of the range of the moan? good, cuz I would have failed it...

I will be dodging, and then do an acrobatic roll between the fighters legs to chew on the cleric's neck.

Mechanics:

Spoiler:

Acrobatics Check:
1d20+18=30

Attack:1d20+8=16 uh oh....think that misses

Damage (not likely) 1d4+1=2

OOC: will be sad if we die to our first party of adventurers because of our ally LoL

Trust me, it won't happen again! I just thought it would be worth it to do the first time. I was also hoping it would catch more of them than it did of us... the fighter made the save though! Dangit!

Grakl darts from around the corner and charges straight at the Knight, who braces himself for a collision. At the last moment, the wererat dives forward, curling into a ball and rolling between the armoured man’s legs. Springing to his feet, he leaps towards the cleric with bared fangs, however the priest staggers to one side and avoids the attack. The exertion is too much for him however and he slumps to his knees, still clutching at the blade protruding from his neck as he sinks into unconsciousness, the savage wound making the floor slick with blood.

As the carnage erupts around him, the Elf stares, horrified at Milaniel’s awful visage. Overcome by panic, he turns and flees back the way they had come, taking the long, bamboo pole with him and rapidly plunging the corridor into darkness. As their light source disappears, the Halfling swears loudly. ”Ferado! Get us some light!” orders the knight as he and the fighter hold their swords out before them, doing their best to fight in the darkness.

That is the end of the first round. Here are the positions at the start of round two. The corridor is now dark, however the three of you still in combat all have darkvision, so that is not an issue for any of you.

The halfling drops his bow and kneels down, rummaging in his backpack and producing both a lantern and a flint and steel as he frantically begins trying to produce some light. The knight turns to where he last saw Grakl and swings his sword blindly at the wererat, however it sails harmlessly over his head.

Knight's attack on Grakl. (1d20+5=7, 1d8+4=7)

The fighter steps forward towards where he last saw Cenciarch, also swinging his sword wildly, hoping that he will somehow connect. Due more to luck than anything else, he is rewarded as his longsword catches the tiny dragon’s wing. Cenciarch takes 10 hit points damage.

Fighter attacks Cenciarch. (1d20+5=23, 1d8+4=10)
Concealment - fighter needs greater than 50 to confirm his hit... (1d100=72)

Next up:
Milaniel
Yhum Yhum (second round of cowering)
Grakl
Cenciarch
Saamasal (second round of cowering)

Grakl, your opponents are not receiving any dex bonus to AC this round, given the darkness. Cenciarch, you could use your breath weapon to catch the fighter and rogue without hitting any of your allies, if you wished.

what penalties will Grakl take for a full attack with his natural weapons?

Take a 5ft step and then
raking them down both the rogue and the fighter, (two-weapon fighting with natural weapons -4/-8)

Spoiler:

Rogue:1d20+11=20-4=16, Fighter:1d20+11=23-8=15 Bah think I might have missed...but here's damage 1d3+1+3d6=18, 1d3+1+3d6=16
bleeding attacks of course...

sorry cenciarch, I just realized I got in your way...I do have evasion tho...

I can't do anything this round, right?

Only run like a coward. Come, join me in the back corner! It's fun!

Natural weapons don't take two-weapon penalties. Both attacks are primary, so they should be at your highest BAB.

Milaniel drifts over, til she is directly over the halfing. Leaning down, she whispers into his ear, "No, no, my friend, it will be so much funnier if you let them die with the lights out..."

Casting hideous laughter on the rogue. Will save DC 17 negates.

Male Ethereal Dragon (Wyrmling) Conjurer 1 (ECL 7)

Cenciach yipes as the sword finds its mark. "Owww!!!" The wyrmling starts crying, but moves 14-Hto attack.
Can I get the knight now with my cone without hurting Grakl or Milly? If so, I do so.
Reflex 14 for half, damage 2d6=12.
Otherwise, I do nothing else. I need a @#$%ing spell book. Herrre, wizard wizard wizard!

Just realized your breath weapon can actually hit Milaniel. Woohoo!

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

Your bite is a secondary attack (and is always at -5, even if it's all you do. The upside being you can use it in addition to a weapon in melee) your claws are primary attacks and thus take no penalty.

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

Grakl slips in between the rogue and fighter, slashing each with his claws. The fighter is grievously wounded, the gash opening an artery in his neck which continues bleeding as he collapses to the floor. Clearly, he had already suffered some injuries and was on the verge of collapse. The rogue, however somehow senses Grakl's attack as it arrives and twists himself free from mortal danger, suffering only a minor slash to the cheek. You still hit him, but your sneak attack had no effect on the rogue.

Yuhm Yuhm wrote:

Correct - that moaning was horrible...

Milaniel the Mourner wrote:

As Milaniel casts her spell, the rogue wavers, almost surrendering to hysteria before he is able to bring himself under control. Undeterred, he continues with his efforts to return light to the dwindling group.

Rogue attempts to resist Milaniel's hideous laughter. (1d20+6=17)

You are finally able to breathe on the knight without affecting Milaniel or Grakl - blasting him as he whirls back and forth in the darkness, struggling to locate his foe. More by luck than anything else, he ducks under the line of fire just as you release your attack, escaping the worst of it, though still sustaining some damage.

Knight's reflex save. (1d20-2=18)

DC 20 perception (sound based):

Spoiler:
You here a scream of terror, cut suddenly short from the direction that the wizard fled.

DC 25:
Spoiler:
You also here a soft 'squelch'.

The rogue finally gets his lantern alight, the small flame springing to life and filling the corridor with light once more. Looking around and taking in the situation, he makes a sudden dash for the shaft through which you entered, slipping away from Grakl and Milaniel as he begins calling out at the top of his lungs. "HELP! HELP! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK! LOWER THE ROPE! A THOUSAND GOLD PIECES TO WHOEVER COMES TO HELP US!"

The knight remains steadfast, attacking Cenciach as he slowly inches his way down the passage towards the way out of the dungeon. The dragon is struck once more, this time a sharp blow across the neck. Cenciach takes another 9 hit points damage.

Knight's attack on Cenciarch (1d20+9=20, 1d8+4=9)

It is now round three. The two remaining enemies have acted and here are the current positions. There is a bow with one arrow at G16, the rusty dagger Grakl threw at the priest remains in H16.

Next up:
Milaniel
Yhum Yhum (third round of cowering)
Grakl
Cenciarch
Saamasal (third round of cowering)

Yuhm Yuhm is on the floor, rocking himself in a fetal position. "No more .. I be good .. no more," he repeats over and over.

Cenciach perks up. "Guys, you hear that? It sounded like a scream! And...a squelch?" He yipes again as the knight hits him, and decides to withdraw. Since I have the Hover feat, can I fly straight up 10 feet? If not, then I move to I-7.
"Milly! Grakl!" He calls. "Get out of my line of fire!"

How did the rogue light a lantern when he was threatened? and how did he move away so far without triggering AoOs?

Grakl's claws want to know...

Can he grab the dagger while he's moving to throw it at the rogue?

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

He was completing an action rather than using a full-round action to light the lantern. *shrug* Probably should have given you an AOO anyhow though - so go for it Milaniel and Grakl

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

Rogue's acrobatics check to avoid attacks of opportunity from Milaniel and Grakl. (1d20+12=29)...forgot to post this link, sorry.

As the rogue fumbles with the lamp, Grakl slashes at him.

I thought that must have been the case...I just reread the acrobatics rules, and it requires a roll for every opponent now, and it's no longer base 15, but base 15+BAB+2 for each additional opponents threatened area. So I just learned something new...and the DC for moving thorough an opponent's square (like I did) is 20+BAB...but let's just proceed as you laid it out already =D...you're the DM! heh, I'll just have to make sure I'm a little more careful in the future with my own acrobatic assaults...

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

Grakl catches the rogue with his claw, cutting him slightly once more as the lantern springs to life.

Cheers - I'll bear that in mind also for next time.

General rules comment:
Spoiler:
I should apologise for this and any subsequent rules confusion, by the way - my tabletop group is a play-without-opening-the-books mob, we generally only check rules when there's a lull to see 'what we should have done'. I'm trying to run PBPs RAW, but it's not my style so I'm bound to screw up from time to time...(for example - I posted from work and I think I gave the rogue a move of 80 feet that round instead of the 40 he was supposed to get. Just call it an adrenaline rush..) Do point out any errors though, I won't go back and change stuff that's happened, but I'll try to get it right in the future...

Cenciarch remains in place, rising up ten feet to hover right by the roof.

Milaniel can make an attack of opportunity as the rogue gets the lamp lit. She can also post actions for this round.

Grakl will need to use a move action to pull the dagger from the Cleric's neck.

Perception (sound-based) (1d20+15=17)

AoO on the rogue (1d20+4=21)
If that hits:
damage (1d6=2)

Milaniel flies after the rogue. Double move to L8.

Then Grakl will forgo the dagger, with the lantern around the corner... (30ft bright light, 60ft shadowy illumination,) I can rehide and attack from the darkness...

Sneak:1d20+24=44 Good luck sword-boy

Sneak Attack (bleeding attack) : 1d20+11=18
1d3+1+3d6=16

Lantern rules

"Hyooooooman....we're out to get you, and since we just came down the hole, there's no one up there to save you now..."

Milaniel the Mourner wrote:

As the rogue lights the lantern, Milaniel also takes the opportunity to attack him, her ghostly touch making his skin scorch and wither. As he runs, screaming into the entryway, the ghost drifts after him menacingly.

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

The knight is holding his sword out, trying to ward off any enemies as he backs towards the entry well. He doesnt see Grakl until it's too late though and the wererat lunges out of the shadows, once more inflicting a savage wound with his claws.

The rogue continues screaming for help and those in the entry shaft can hear voices calling down from far above in response. Turning desperately to face Milaniel, the halfling slashes at her with his sword, wimpering slightly as it sails right through her with absolutely no effect.

The knight extricates himself from the fight with Grakl and Cenciarch, withdrawing carefully as he moves back into the light. He adds his call to that of the rogue, calling out to those above and begging for assistance.

Here is the map showing current positions. The rogue and knight are both wounded, the knight is also bleeding. They have both acted in this round. Those in the entrywell can hear voices from above and can see faces beginning to peer over the edge to look down on you.

Next up:
Milaniel
Yhum Yhum (final round of cowering)
Grakl
Cenciarch
Saamasal (final round of cowering)

Male Ethereal Dragon (Wyrmling) Conjurer 1 (ECL 7)

Cenciach flies over 10-H. "Move, Milly! You're still in my line of fire!" He complains.

"You missed," Milaniel tells the rogue with a smile. She then slashes at him with her hand, before stepping back to clear the area.

Corrupting touch (1d20+4=14, damage 1d6=3)

"I can hear the blood, dripping dripping down your back..."

Grakl move out of the darkness...

full move to M4

he eyes the lantern with smoldering hate.

Next turn I will move to flank the rogue. and then tear him to pieces.

Mechanics:

Male Ethereal Dragon (Wyrmling) Conjurer 1 (ECL 7)

Next turn, Cenciach sighs.
"That's it, I'm going after the wizard. Have fun without me!" He flies off.
What scale we using? 10 ft. per square? 5? If 5, then I move to C-15. If 10, I move to G-15. If I see the wizard, I open fire. Reflex 14, 2d6, save for half, etc.

"CENS! NO!!! REMEMBER THE SQUiSHY CRUNCHY NOISE??!?!?!?"

"Cens attack the knight, give him what for...from above!!!"

Grakl Longtooth wrote:

Cenciach rolls his eyes.

"Come on, the wizard probably just broke his leg or something. I hope he's a conjurer..."

"Kill that knight and I'll help you find that spellbook...even if we have to pull it out of some beasties belly!!"

Apologies for the protracted delay - Paizo messageboards havent been loading on my computer for the last couple of days... :(

Milaniel's corrupting touch misses the rogue, as she then glides aways from him a short distance, taunting him as he brandishes his useless weapon. Grakl suddenly looms out of the darkness also, menacing the rogue who turns left and right, feeling himself totally surrounded. Meanwhile Cenciarch flies around the corner towards where the wizard disappeared to.

As he stumbles into the pool of light at the bottom of the shaft, the knight sinks to his knees, still clutching his bleeding wound as he lapses into unconsciousness. The rogue lets out an agonised scream, pleading for help from whoever is at the top of the shaft as he moves and launches a desperate attack on Grakl. Although the strike hits, the steel of his weapon is unable to hurt the wererat, leaving a mark but doing no significant damage. At this point, Yhum Yhum and Saamasal are able to shake off the debilitating effects of Milaniel's dreadful moan and the four of you are able to overcome the rogue, surrounding him and overwhelming him this round.

Cenciarch has disappeared around the corner and you can see whoever is above you beginning to maneuver some sort of platform over the opening high above you, some faint voices calling out words of encouragement to those below. You catch a glimpse of a rope and some form of contraption designed to lower the makeshift elevator down the shaft. It looks large, almost filling the shaft - you would guess it could take ten or twelve people if fully laden. At this stage all you can see is it wobbling uncertainly as some faceless enemies begin piling in to come to the aid of the deceased adventurers.

Cenciarch:

Spoiler:
As soon as you round the corner, you come across the wizard hovering in mid-air, his ten foot pole still clutched in his hand and shedding it's light, as before. As you look closer, you realise he is suspended in a gooey, viscous ooze of some description. A transparent wall of...something slowly moving down the corridor towards the rest of the group. You can see the skin on his body dissolving before your eyes, together with his clothing and other organic matter.

Cenciarch only - DC10 knowledge(dungeoneering) can be attempted untrained:

Spoiler:
It's a gelatinous cube.

Also only Cenciarch - DC15 knowledge(dungeoneering) only with the skill:
Spoiler:
They destroy organic matter, like flesh, backpacks and most spell books. They are susceptible to ordinary weapons, however fire is the best way to kill them.

Male Ethereal Dragon (Wyrmling) Conjurer 1 (ECL 7)

DM:

Spoiler:
Knowledge check 1d20+3=22.
"Darn it!" Cenciach shouts. He then notices the wizard within, and feels nauseous. He yells back to the others:

"Uh...guys, there's a gelatinous cube! It's sorta...anybody got any fire?"
Spoiler:
He quickly lets loose a breath of force, inside which is the contents of his previous meal.
On the bright side, I doubt it'll make its save...
2d6=7, Reflex 14 for half.

"More are coming," Milaniel calls back. "We must push through the cube before they arrive, or find some way to lure it in here to distract our pursuers!" She looks at Yhum Yhum and Saamasal and appears genuinely abashed. "Forgive me, warriors. I... did not consider the effect I would have on you."

"Quick, find some alchemist's fire amongst these fools"

"we need time to get this gear...a little fire would prevent that platform from holding people..."

Spoiler:
Use my detect magic rogue ability. Looking first for weapons then for wands. I'm not interested in armor, maybe the wizard has armored bracers.

"That was ... fun!"

"Yhum Yhum, grab knight's and priest's weapons!! Get whatever armor you can"

Grakl grabs the rogue's weapons. belt, pouches, backpack, etc.

"Cenc, what else can you tell us about the cube?, We can lure it to large room? Yes, yes? Is spellbook in cube?"

"sam...umm...grab, whatever you think you need...can you stop platform with some Githi mindtrick?"

I like this character, I might have to use him as an NPC in my home game

"Millaniel, can you do the "scary face" to those above? poke head thru platform and scare the yellow out of them..."

Male Githyanki Fighter 3/ Psion(Nomad) 2

"No, I'll take the knight's weapon."

"I have nothing that would be effective against an ooze."

Wait, what happened to the fighter? I wanted his shirt...
