Well, the pugwampi himself may have gone down fast, but you must have enjoyed all the cactus wounds and the barbarian dangling over the cliff while the dwarf was unable to pull her up. :)

It was somewhat comical. Although I will admit that I was looking forward to a few more rounds of Nuveril scrabbling to the top whilst Losk was inexplicably tangling himself up in the rope.

I'm assuming the Int score on the pugwampi isn't that high. He probably would have fared better just staying hidden while we injured ourselves. Losk could have strangled himself in the rope while Nuveril fell into the cactus patch and pulled Nano and Losk's lifeless body down on top of her.

He figured peppering the two of them with arrows while they tried to hold you up would hurry things along. Didnt quite count on being dropped by the first spell... :(

Nonetheless, as you say, they're not that bright.

I'm ready to jump in at any time. Just waiting on my grand entrance!

Parvenah and Jaken are also returning to the camp. The two of you arrived a few days before the rest of the party and Almah has sent you out to scout the area and find somewhere more defensible to establish a base... I'd just like to look over Gavgoyle's completed character and then we should be good to go.

Male Rogue 1

I'm planning on making some minor skill changes based on a couple traits I'm taking if that's ok. Nothing major. I'll note them tonight. Basically increasing my Knowledge(History) to be more in line with my concept.

No trouble at all.

No doubt you've all noticed, but I am struggling to post every day. End-of-Financial-Year is a hectic time and I can't see things improving in the next few weeks - sorry about that.

If you're all fine with continuing at a slightly slower pace - I'm still keen. However, I'll understand if it's not moving fast enough for you though - just let me know if you'd rather pull out.

Nuveril's in this one as long as you can find a party to run with her. I like playing her. :)

Have you seen my pbp recently? I have an RSS feed of both threads, so I'll be here when you are...

So are we converting to PfRPG final or sticking with Beta rules for the duration?

That's just what I was going to ask!

I will only have the PDF of the new rules initially, and it will take me a few days I expect before I can get even that.....But I'm all for converting (i.e. rebuilding from scratch using the new rules) the characters.....

Second question, which XP track are we taking? Looking at the numbers I expect you all to level up before we get out of this monastery, so it would be nice to know when that happens....

Shouldn't be hard since we're all first level. If we ever get back to Osirion in our other PbP, it would be a much more difficult question. Particularly since the changes to clerics in Final mean Douena would have been able to do things the first two days of the campaign that she'll never be able to do again.... :(

I'm running Second Darkness with Beta rules, and I found that the fast progression was necessary to keep the PCs on target with the expected level in the 3.5 AP. Does LoF list at which points we're expected to be what level?

Urk, I thought the idea was that the medium would match the old rate of advancement, but we shall see. The Second AP certainly has guidance on what level you should be where, so if we aren't looking right by mid way on this one, we can swap out....Shall we start on Fast?

That may well be the case with material written specifically for PfRPG, but it didn't work out in Second Darkness with the suggested levelling points therein. That, or they assumed more XP from sidequests than my players went on. The fast progression was right on track. I'll be interested to see which one works out in CoT.

Ok, we'll go with the Fast XP for now that, that should suit a PbP anyway....

I'm recrfeating Losk from scratch over the next couple of days, I reccomend the rest of you do the same if you can. I'm also considering converting the rest on the fly so the stuff you face is with the PFRPG rules....

Also, I am creating an avator for my DM posts, so I can keep the DM stuff and the Losk stuff more organised.

...

I haven't looked at CoT in case I end up getting into a game as a player instead of DMing it, but I read in another thread that it specifically states it's written for the medium progression track. The poster also noted that CotCT and SD followed fast progression when run with Beta rules. So it's a change with the switch to PfRPG.

Nuveril will be happy to open the door when I get her switched to Final. I was kind of hoping Jaken or Nano might make an appearance, though.

Me too.

Female Halfling Barbarian (superstitious) 7 | hp 72/72 (86/86 raging)

Got Nuveril updated to Final rules. The only real difference was rounds of rage instead of rage points and she can have favored class barbarian now. However, I apparently completely screwed up her skill points when I made her up because I couldn't make the numbers work out right looking at them again. Hopefully she's right now.

Yeah, I had the same thing, then I realised that I was trying to do the skill points the 3.5 way, and that I just had 1 rank in each skill, and that the class ones got a +3 for being class skills, then it just worked out.....

Ok folks, I'm around for the next 10-12 hours, then after that I will be camping in the wilds (with lots of friends and far too many toddlers) until sometime Monday...

So no posty-posting from me for a few days....

So, yeah, sorry folks! I'm in france. Nice little camping holiday. Supposd to be free wifi. Nope. So where i should have been able to keep up- i cant. C'est la vie. I will be home a week on sat. I promise to make it up then! Nev.

Enjoy your holiday, Nevyn! (Although I suppose you'll be home by the time you read this.) Glad to hear from you -- I was starting to worry. :)

Man, do I ever hate stirges!

We once had a stirge-induced TPK that wiped out our 1st-level PCs before they even got started. To be fair, our dice killed us worse than the stirges did.

Then, there was the halfling bard who split off from the rest of the party and ran into a random encounter of one stirge. He actually would have been better off if he'd just sat there passively and waited for the stirge to get full and fly away, as he kept trying to hit the attached stirge with his weapon and doing damage to himself.

Then, one time I sent a swarm of stirges against a couple of 10th-level paladins and just about killed them....

Bad news, stirges.

Nevynxxx, I'm building my concept around a wizard. He is either going to be an Illusionist, or a Diviner. I'm leaning towards Diviner though.

Just to be clear. 20 Point Buy, PFRPG Final Rules, 2 Traits (rich parents off limits), Average gold. Any other rules or houserules?

No, that's fine.

Do you have an idea in mind of how you're going to introduce me to the party?
I would just like to create a fitting background or motivation for being at place X where he joins the group. Then I will also know when the time is getting close for me to start posting...

How much do you know about LoF?

I expect that I'll introduce you when the party meets up with their sponsor in the desert, but before they move into the Monastery. You can have met up in the desert while the party was doing their current bit of exploring....

Nothing. I have the Players Guide and I'm scanning through the game thread. Arn't they already at the monastery?

Yes, it has it's moments.....and often it's limited in the time I can spend updating it.

Hey guys, sorry I'm gonna have to drop out. I'm about to start this AP in a new local group and I figure I haven't done much here.

Hi I'm going to be joining this game so I am wondering if there is any class or type of character that is particularly needed.

Kevin Mack wrote:

At the moment, we have a barbarian, a dwarf cleric that can handle himself in combat, and a sorcerer. So we could probably use someone with stealth and/or someone good at ranged combat, if any of that sounds appealing.

Hmm I am thinking a high dex fighter or maybe a bard

Bard! Definitely a bard. Watching one of those singing in a low level RotRL game is awesome!

Not that I want to influence you in any way :p

Is it okay for me to reuse a character (Well the name at any rate) from an older game? (I generally don't like to waste characters)

No problem.

What should my characters starting wealth be?

Monty Haul many moons ago wrote:
We'll be using PF Beta rules, with maximum hit points at first level and average gold for your class. You can each use two traits although I'm not a big fan of the "rich parents" one so I'd prefer you not start with stacks of wealth.

Except for the Beta rules part, I'd assume this would apply to you too, unless Monty has something unusual in mind.

Posting with new character to get a dot.

Kevin Mack wrote:

As Joanna said - start with average wealth for your class. You can also begin with two traits barring the 'rich parents' one. Any other queries, just let me know.

Cheers - I'll begin writing the two of you in as soon as Kevin is set to go.

Some dude

I was all excited by the trait that gives you a MW weapon, MW armor item or 20 charge Wand of a 1st level spell (which might as well come out and say '20 charge Wand of Cure Light Wounds').

I had visions of a dragonhide breastplate, and then saw the cost. Uh, no. I could have afforded dragonhide Hide, but what's the point? My Druid can already wear Hide, and Masterwork Hide is *exactly* as good as Dragonhide Hide, and costs half as much... Silly rules!
