Just putting this here to judge if there is any interest in this campaign being run here on the boards and on Owl Bear Rodeo for maps?
I've tried several campaigns on here, but most have died due to disagreements on enforcement of rules. I would love to run... but don't want the game to degenerate into bickering and complaining about my interpretation of the rules.
I hate to start a recruitment thread on a negative note... but I can promise this can be rewarding for the right group of players.

I would be very interested! I am a huge fan of the Starfinder universe, I have played and GMed many games and campaigns, and now I am just about to start mastering the second edition of SF (which will not be so difficult, since I have been playing and running PF2e a lot). Also, I've been interested in this particular adventure for a long time.

Provided I can find a way to fit this guy in, I'd love to, from the same campaign as Seth I think.
Would PF2 Classes be allowed? This guy was a SF1 Soldier so if they are, I'd probably be going Fighter. Could probably squeeze Vulkarisu in as awakened animals within reason.
Also man I wish enforcement of rules were the reasons my campaigns died, jeez. Like so many others mine have died due to attrition or me overestimating myself.

Hey there Ace, yeah, I'm from the same game

Seeds of my character concept:
Ancestry: Human
Heritage: Golarion Survivor Human (Golarion Lore, bonus language: Varisian, treats starknifes as simple weapons)
Background: Time Lost (Trained in Society, History Lore, Dubious Knowledge skill feat)
Class: Witchwarper
Paradox: Gap-Influenced
Anchor: Core Memories
The New Hire background from the Player's Guide is the one that best fits my character concept.
Life is hard, and you’ve been down on your luck for a long time. However, you still have a few friends from the old days when you had credits to burn. One of those friends is a brenneri named Tarika; you and she had a lot of good times together, but she dropped out of your social scene to raise her daughter. Things went downhill for you after that. A few weeks ago, you were squatting in Downside when you ran into Tarika and she recognized you. She put in a good word with the Company and got you this job as a result.

Hello! I was Septimilius (I think I spelled that correctly) in your Conan Savage Worlds game. That game ended from loss of posting momentum, not arguments over rules.
I'm thinking of an envoy for this game...though it may change while I develop the character's backstory.
Wow! That's been a while. I'd forgotten about that game. Welcome back... I guess I should have clarified that my PF2e games are the games that have led to the rulings difficulties.
Marcellus Magravi
I have named my character.
@GM: Based on your post yesterday about having 6 (then 5, then 6 again, then 7) interested players and taking into consideration player attrition, are all players who have posted interest so far accepted into your campaign? I do not want to 'post and delete' in gameplay until you have clarified (and/or confirmed whether or not my character has been accepted into the campaign).
I am currently in the process of refining his character backstory. Currently three of the witchwarper paradoxes (all except Analyst paradox) work for his character concept (& unfinished rough draft backstory). The final potential paradox will probably get reduced down to one (or two) once I have finished deciding on specifics of part 2 of his backstory as I type it up (and adjusting the rough draft of part 1 as needed).
Date: Rova 21, 4707 AR
Morning
Marcellus woke up, ecstatic for the day. Not only was Sandpoint having the Swallowtail Festival today, he was going to surprise Heather with the ring he had been making lay-away payments for at Rings and Things.
Marcellus decided to walk into Sandpoint from the farm instead of taking a horse. When he got to Sandpoint he headed to Rings and Things before going to meet Heather for their planned picnic lunch on the west bluff of town.
Marcellus and Maver's conversation is spoken in Taldane.
"Hi, Maver. I have the rest I owe you for the ring." as he put the remaining 5 gold he owed onto the countertop.
"I'm sorry, Marcellus. Pennae says you still have 5 silver left of interest to make up for us holding onto the ring for you instead of selling it to the traveler from Magnimar last month."
Saddened that he was not going to be able to propose to Heather while they had lunch on the west bluff of town, "Would you mind opening up after the banquet tonight so I can give you the remaining coins. I really want to be able to surprise her today."
"Tell you what, Marcellus. Don't tell my wife. I will give you the ring now and you can stop by my table at the banquet tonight and pass me the five silver under the table, so Pennae does not know you did not pay the rest of the coin when I gave you the ring."
"Thanks, Maver. You're the best. But I don't want to risk getting you in hot water with your wife. Could you have the ring on you at the banquet?"
"I sure can. Good luck, lad."
Evening
As the sun was setting, Father Zantus started walking towards the central podium. Marcellus told Heather he would be right back, and started heading over to Maver and Pennae Kesk's table to get the ring. As Marcellus and Maver completed their transaction, Marcellus looked up and saw the starlit sky. Why did he not think of proposing under the starlight in the first place? He concealed the ring in his hand and started making his way back to Heather.
The following is spoken in Varisian.
Marcellus got down on one knee, held out the ring for Heather to see, "Heather Vishki, will you give me the honour of becoming your husband?
Heather answers, "I will.", just before Father Zantus strikes the thunderstone.
Marcellus stands back up and the two of them start to kiss, as a goblin suddenly appears from behind Heather and runs her through with its dogslicer. Heather's blood quickly falls to the ground from the mortal wound as the goblin sings gleefully.
Marcellus catches her as she slumps forward, "No!" He looks around and sees the doors to the new cathedral are open, picks Heather up into his arms and sprints towards the cathedral.
Although he managed to get within the relative safety of the cathedral without the goblins attacking him, the chaos of the surprise mass goblin attack kept all the priests busy outside too long, that by the time they made their way inside the cathedral, Heather's heart had stopped beating.

4712 AR
The loss of his love sent Marcellus into a deep depression that never seemed to be coming to an end. Five years after Heather was killed, his great-aunt, Risa Magravi, started doing special dreaming sessions with him. In the dreaming sessions, she used a crystal ball to show him an alternate timeline in which Heather was not killed. Seeing not just Heather and him were happily married in the alternate timeline, but were also parents to twins: a boy and a girl.
Knowing there was a version of himself that was getting to spend his life with Heather and raising children together started to heal his depression.
4712 to 4718 AR
For the next 6 years, Risa Magravi had weekly sessions with her great-nephew Marcellus so he could continue to view the alternate timeline in which he and Heather and their children were living a happy life.
4718 AR
The following is spoken in Varisian.
One session Risa was unable to pierce the veil for the weekly session with Marcellus (which was before the first night that she lost the ability to dream).
Marcellus asked his great aunt if he could try to use the crystal ball to show him the alternate timeline. She granted her blessing. He gripped his starknife in his left hand and held it in place it on the table beside the crystal ball and placed his right hand onto the crystal ball.
Risa instructed him, "Visualize what you saw them doing the last week."
Much to his delight, he was able to pierce the veil like his great aunt had been doing for him the past several years.
The image of him, Heather and their 10-year old twins having a meal appeared within the glass orb.
He was watching the alternate timeline version of himself and his family for a minute, when suddenly the image skipped, the twins were slightly larger than they were a moment before, then the image skipped again, and the twins were now teenagers.
"Why are they aging so fast?!?", Marcellus' voice a mixture of fear and bewilderment.
Risa, sensing something was starting to go terribly wrong, called out, "Marcellus, let go of the glass!"
Marcellus took his right hand off the glass and stood up quickly, but somehow his starknife was stuck to the table, and as he stood up, the table came up off the floor, the crystal ball rolled off the table and smashed into shards as it struck the floor.
And as the crystal ball hit the floor, Marcellus and his starknife disappeared.
The mystery of where Marcellus went was never solved....

@GM: I made an educated guess that in addition to using SF2E backgrounds, that you might want us to incorporate one of the backgrounds from the AP's Player Guide into our character's backstories (for a connection with one of the NPCs mentioned in the backgrounds).
The 'Old Hand' 1E background might work better than the 'New Hand' for my character's backstory.
As Tarika is the NPC connection for both New Hire and Old Hire, I will include Tarika in Part 2 of Marcellus Magravi's background story, with it being a combination of New Hire (Tarika is the one that got the out-of-his-own-time Varisian a job at EJ Corp) and Old Hire (Tarika was one of the first people he met when he first appeared in Absalom Station from the distant past and he would sometimes offer to cover her shifts so she can spend more time with her daughter).

Discussion Thread is open. I'd like to take the time to finalize the characters and perhaps have some quick vignettes concerning each before jumping into the campaign with both feet. I like to read the whole campaign before running so that might take a couple more weeks, but no hurry as I want players that are invested and that work well together and I find that HAST = WASTE.
I'll post a few more guidelines later today. I don't usually have too many requirements as long as the source material is easily available, and reliable.
In this case however as much happens on board a ship it's important to fill the ship rolls listed above.

** spoiler omitted **...
I think it's safe to say your character is in. Kind of gaging actual activity from those interested as that's a good indicator of participation. Don't need completed characters yet, just discussion on what they will bring to the game. You've demonstrated this interest.

Right now, what I have in mind is:
Kalo Solarian Electrician (terraformer background from the PG) who could fill the Gunner role and, depending on final training allocation, a middling Pilot or a basic medic.
An alternative idea is an Astrazoan Operative, probably a CHA path or possibly an INT path.
Archpaladin Zousha

So...are we ALL in, effectively? Just wanna make sure I'm not being presumptuous and can prep an appropriate character to fit the party's needs (since I've wanted to play FFoD pretty much since it came out, I've got concepts for pretty much each of the offered hooks in the Player's Guide :P).
Supreme Being
Everybody is in as long as we fill all the roles. This is that whole cart before the horse thing. Nobody wants to make a character if they're not in the game and I don't want to put anyone into the game without a fitting character. :-). Let's come up with rough concepts and roles then I'll approve as desired... then we can finalize the details of the group.
When you present your character fill in both primary and secondary roles, they will be suitable for.
1. Pilot
2. Engineer
3. Gunner
4. Science Officer
5. Chief Mate
6. Magic Officer
We can elect a captain after the group is together.
Marcellus Magravi
For ship roles, magic officer is the best fit for Marcellus (being a out-of-time witchwarper), with chief mate being the second best fit (giving that he grew up in Sandpoint just before Rise of the Runelords AP events started to happen, he did not grow up with the tech of the far-flung future, so would not have the more in-depth familiarity with technology as the others would (even if other PCs are untrained in the same tech skills as him ;).
As for the third-best fit for Marcellus, pilot or gunner would make better fits than engineer or science officer, as he could more easily learn how to fly or shoot, as opposed to the years of study to be an engieer or scientist.
Between pilot and gunner, pilot would align with his outlook more than gunner.
Marcellus:
Best choice: Magic Officer
Secondary choice: Chief Mate
Tertiary choice: Pilot

Tentative PCs per role
1. Pilot --> (Seth86) or (Avtar of Interesst) or ??
2. Engineer ?? or ??
3. Gunner --> (Seth86) or (Avatar of Interest) or ??
4. Science Officer --> ?? or (Avatar of Interest-basic medic) or ??
5. Chief Mate --> ?? or (GM_Drake) Marcellus Magravi or ??
6. Magic Officer --> (GM_Drake) Marcellus Magravi or ??
First-listed above is ideal based on background/class so far.
Working with top 3 best-fit roles for a given PC to input into the above potential role allocation.
(Avatar of Interest): "could fill the Gunner role and, depending on final training allocation, a middling Pilot or a basic medic."
(GM_Drake) Marcellus Magravi as possible Chief Mate (2nd best fit), Pilot (3rd best fit) or Gunner (4th best fit)
(Seth86) as possible gunner (as good as fit for the skittermander gunner pilot)
Apologies to anyone else who already posted in recruitment info that could be used to include you. My screen is starting to give me a headache and need to take a break from being so close to it for a bit.

@all player/character applications: Please list, in descending order, the best 3 ship roles that make sense for your character to fill.
I will update later with the additional info.

Please copy and paste the following and add your character's name (or your profile name in brackets if you have not named your character yet)
Fly Free or Die Player's Guide backgrounds (not your character's background slot)
Former Smuggler -->
Golden Parachute -->
Kalistocrat Childhood -->
Mine Collapse -->
New Hire --> Marcellus Magravi*
Old Hand --> Marcellus Magravi*
Terraformer -->
Union Busted -->
Add your name to any that could potential work for your character concept.
* Marcellus Magravi's Player's Guide background works best as a mixture of New Hire and Old Hand. (which will be reflected in Part 2 of his Character Backstory) same linked NPC (female brenneri, Tarika, raising her daughter)

For the magic officer role (which used mysticism in PF1E), would Occultism be a good skill to use for the checks?
SF2E describes occultism as "You know a great deal about ancient philosophies, esoteric lore, obscure mysticism, and supernatural creatures. Even if you’re untrained in Occultism, you can use it to Recall Knowledge.")

My character concept is as follows:
Name: Chesterfield 00K13, or "Cookie" to his friends.
Ancestry: Android
Class: Soldier
About Cookie: Cookie's been up around the asteroid a few times. Not quite ready for retirement, but figuring he's got at least a few good hurrahs in him before he settles down. Cookie's done just about every job a person can do while never earning much to his name, but he's learned to fight with almost every kind of weapon, cook almost any meal you can think of, and has worked on every type of engine from speeders to starships. While he's been known to have a bit of a temper where his cooking is concerned, Cookie has never turned anyone away from his stove and always makes sure everyone is well fed.
tl;dr, he's a mechanic that does talk like this Cookie, but he can actually cook. His backgrounds would be a rough combination of the ones listed below. He's a bit older, but that's never stopped him before.
Fly Free or Die Player's Guide backgrounds (not your character's background slot)
Former Smuggler --> Cookie
Golden Parachute -->
Kalistocrat Childhood -->
Mine Collapse --> Cookie
New Hire -->
Old Hand --> Cookie
Terraformer -->
Union Busted -->
Potential Ship Roles
Best choice: Engineer
Secondary choice: Gunner
Tertiary choice: Pilot
Anything that involves telling people what to do that isn't in his kitchen is a bad place for Cookie.

Cook for Cookie's SF2E background?
Shoot, that was going to be a surprise for everyone :) But yup!
