In the after-action buying equipment, presumably you will be back at the Pathfinder Society hall, and that would be in a large city, and you should be able to restock on spell components. Is this generally correct?

Yep.

Oh, hey, one more question? If Pathfinder Campaign Setting equipment is allowed, does that include Firearms? They are rather expensive, but they might make nice flavor for some character, sometime. (No, I'm not looking for a tec-9 to pop a cap on anyone. <g>)

Deussu asked that sometime last year. No firearms in society.

ah. thanks. So much for the legions of zombie sharpshooters...

<that was a joke>

Yep.

So for spell components with prices listed on them, is it acceptable to just use the character's cash to cast these, or should such purchases be documented (rather than just gold deducted).

For example do PCs need to specify that they are carrying 5000+gp in diamond dust rather than in gold?

As to the silliness with alignment issues- people will always come up with such problems. If the DM is being a jerk about it, immediately walk from his table. If you don't you will likely regret not doing so as things will just get worse and it's not worth it. In living campaigns you come across such people.. they are rare, but when you come across them you note down their name to avoid later and just leave them to their own devices.

We're not going to create any special rules for material components. Wizards need to buy their components and keep track of them per the PHB.
