Adjusting his robes, Auruns heads off to look for his gecko mount which seems to have wandered off somewhere in the oasis during the fighting.

Transiting to the Sanctum of the Sun for a moment :)

Ethelbert swims sluggishly in the pond. It looks as if he sustained some damage

the omniportal flashes and Spring Sapling emerges. She advances to the others.

I am here to assist. I have been given the honor of speaking for the Grove.

She spots the wounded octopus and touches him. The damage is healed

There you are water brother She croons

Oh I is sorry Ethelbert, Nimora exclaims, distressed. I was no being realize you were no healing by the water Kaelar was sending out. You must was swim too deep.
To Spring Sapling, I is very much thank you for being help him.

From behind one of the dunes, if anyone happens to be looking in that direction, the top of a red smeared skull pops up briefly, before dropping back down again.
I did sort of try to hint that there might be a few left, with Auruns saying he wasn't sure how many he saw, but he thought it was between ten and fifteen; just because a couple of groups attacked it doesn't mean that there aren't one or two observers out there still...

Spring Sapling nods

I am happy to help. I cannot fight well, but I can heal and I can carry messages. I also speak for the Grove. They watch us through me. I offer your alliance my services.

We is being very happy to having you here. I is being sure that when the others are being back from the sun temple, they is also being glad to having you here.

Spring Sapling nods, then slowly walks among the willows that line the pond.

Your home is very beautiful. She calls to Nimora

I is agreeing. Sirone giving us beautiful place to being live. The landwalkers seeming find it being very good place for courtship. I is not being so sure about that, but landwalkers is having odd customs that I is not always being understand.

I am often confused by their antics as well She says, trailing a slender brown hand along a willow

I was expecting that actually. Now that I'm back online and my head has stopped pounding, I'll take care of that... ;P

The omniportal flashed again as Devlyn and Allura returned from the Sanctum. After a brief stop to get changed back into proper adventuring garb, they coordinated with the rest of the folks currently at the Oasis (including the Spring Sapling), then proceeded to go through and look for anymore of those skeleton things (or anything else out of sorts)...

...And while the others were doing that, Devlyn went stealthy and scouted out the dunes around the Oasis, to make sure nothing else was making mischief out there (and to give them enough time to think they had avoided detection). Those last few skeletons were found, and didn't even know what hit them when they were destroyed. :P

Once that business was done, he returned to the Oasis, made one final sweep of things, then found Allura. Those two then got some well-deserved rest.

This morning, Devlyn will make sure that Allura wakes up with a smile on her face... :)

Something tells me you don't want to eat those. Too many additives....

Spring Sapling observes the others destroying the odd undead

How can people turn their backs on the Green like this? She wonders aloud

I wish Devlyn was there to offer commentary, but I doubt she followed him out into the dunes where the skeletons were...

No she would have. She's brave, just a healer not a fighter. And she has godbombing attributes as the 'herald' of the Grove

Not a question of her bravery at all, just her ability to follow someone as stealthy as Devlyn can be ;)

However (for Patrick only please):

Spoiler:
if she did follow him, my guess is it was by somehow tracking his lifeforce, which would show up to her as incredibly strong (due to his connection to the Oasis and being Sirone's Chosen). . So we'll sidebar a bit.... :)

Spring Sapling wrote:

Devlyn whirls around at the voice, coming back into view as the last of the skeletons collapses into ruin.

"What are you doing out here?" as he scans the surrounding dunes to make sure his work is done.

Spring Sapling turns her green eyes to Devlyn

My apologies champion. I thought that prehaps I could assist you if you came into trouble. My elders have given me the power to heal and the power to abjure followers of the Black.

"No apologies necessary, ma'am - I was just surprised that you followed me," he says with a curious look on his face. It passes quickly as he smiles: "And it's Devlyn - 'champion' sounds way too formal for my tastes."

"To answer your question - people have a tendency for their reach to exceed their grasp. Instead of things coming to them in their own good time, they want to grab power or wealth or glory now. Some of them believe that by making things like this," pointing at the remains, "and trying to make other folks do what they want, that such things will come faster. Makes no sense to me personally, but what do I know?"

Satisfied that the area is clear, he looks back to the Oasis.
"Why don't we head back? I think everything's okay for the time being."

The Dalesman wrote:

Spring Sapling nods

You know much ... Devlyn. Sometimes it is hard for me to remember that ephemeral creatures often have a compulsion to amass power to extend their short lives.

She looks down at the ruined skeletons

Such a travesty. Using spirits for energy that shuld be progressing to their next incarnation. It can only lead to perversion and evil.

She bows her branched head and prays. A pulse of green light washes over the skeleton remains, cleansing them of their necromantic taint

Hopefully you have set them free She murmurs

"No way to know for sure, but I hope so. I don't think they volunteered for this existence."

Beware Granddaughter. Those creatures do much harm to the Green.

Spring Sapling smiles

They do Grandfather. But we are here to stop them.

Sping Sapling frowns

It is a greatly evil deed to force others into the service of the Black. Whomever did this will suffer from their actions. It is the way of the Balance.

Frogskin snorts.

"You've got no argument from me on that, but I think we've done enought smiting for one night. Let's get back to the main pool and make sure everything's fine there."

Spring Sapling looks over at the bedraggled one-eyed crow

Why do you disparage the Balance winged herald? Can you not see that is what we fight to preserve?

"Cheerful as always, I see," shaking his head. "But he is right on one thing - this mess will come back to blows sooner rather than later."

Jay Frogskin wrote:

Spring Sapling looks sadly at the raven

If you believe that, why not just not fight? We are the Balance. It doesn't aid us, we aid it. If we wish to have a land free of tyranny and evil we must assume the responsibility for it. If you feel we have no hope go and hide. Do not try an disparage those who would try and preserve the Balance.

She makes shooing motions with her hands

Fly off stormcrow! Bring you evil counsel to other ears than ours!

Frogskin glares at Sapling. "Oh, shut up. I will fight, to the best of my ability, as I have always done. Perhaps we will kill a few foes, but there are far too many. Eventually, we will all die. This is my last war."

The raven gestures to his ex-eye. "See this? This is probably what's stopping me from seeing what has you so hopeful. This, and common sense. It was bad out there, Sapling, really bad. We were massacred. We can't beat these enemies, they'll just get back up and fight us again."

Frogskin vanishes.

"Evil always manages to find a way to come back, true," Devlyn says as Jay vanishes. "But so do the good guys. Just because you can't see the end of the fight doesn't mean it isn't worth fighting, neh?"

He shrugs.

Spring Sapling stares as the raven vanishes

His bitterness is a wound. It will sap his strength when needed. The Black has its claws in his soul. He has fought it too long at it and it has warped him.

She shivers

Let's rejoin the others Devlyn.

"With pleasure."

They head back to the center of the Oasis.

Wow dude, oasis are cool.....

"Is everything all right?" Allura asks as they come back to the Oasis. "Did you find any more of those things out there?"

Meh. The area is currently clear of us. There were only the couple more hiding out behind the dune, and The Dalesmen got them.

Allura wrote:

"I flushed out a few more of those skeleton things out in the dunes. They were watching the Oasis, which means that they are smart enough to report things back to their creator, or they have some kind of sensory link. Neither thought is pleasant..." he says while shaking his head.

"They're gone, and Spring Sapling here 'consecrated' the remains to remove any necrotic taint they may carry."

"I think we got them all this time, but I may take another walk around to make sure. Then maybe get a little shut-eye if everything stays quiet..."

A wanderer strolls along the perimeter of the Oasis, his figure winking out of existence and back again. He mumbles as he walks...

Hmmm...'From out of the mists, a sparkling pool of water surrounded by all sorts of delightful things appears. Welcome to the realm of serenity and peace. This is a welcoming place for all who fight on the side of right and justice to comae and relax. Feel free to drink of it's healing waters and relax in it's cool shady courts. However, no violence will be tolerated here. Please enjoy my hospitality.'

Violence. Caused by minions created by unique means. Board Energy? I must watch this place.

Though Spring Sapling's cleansing has been complete, the wanderer still takes a sample of the soil where a Bone Servant had fallen. He disappears.

Logging of for the commute home - back in an hour :)

Or maybe an hour and a half....crap.

Allura nods. "I've been trying to figure out what went wrong with the wards, but there's no reason at all why they shouldn't have worked. It's very worrying."

Allura wrote:

"Hopefuly Auruns can get us some answers from what he gathered off the remains. Maybe they're not really undead, I don't know."

They were ..

Spring Sapling's voice comes from up in a tree. The slender dryad sits among the branches of an oak near them.

They had the taint of the Black upon them.

So how do we be keeping them out? Is there be any other way to seal away the Oasis so the bad ones can not being get in?

He looks up at Srping Sapling, then back down.

"Then I guess it's going to be a long night..."

I've got a totally groovy plan - you could get one of those funky website dudes to move your thread somewhere else. You know - kind of hide it far, far away. Wow, just like Star Wars.
