Incidentally, I've decided I'm going to run a second LBS version of the Legacy of Fire Adventure Path on the boards here. I'd already assembled a group of mostly-new-to-PbP friends to play - including Ferret, which is why he's stepping out of this game - but there seems to be enough interest that I could put together a second group, so I'm going to try. There will be an official recruiting thread up in moments in the Gamer Connection forum, but I want to tell you all about it specifically since a) you guys were the ones whose enthusiasm convinced me in the first place and b) I like you. ;) So come post if you want in!
Sounds like alot of fun. However, I am already commited to another Legacy of Fire game and have a TON of PBP's games already happening soooooo I think I'll watch the fireworks for this one from the sidelines and just maintain what I already have going on. Thanks for the offer tho and if this game is anything to judge by it's going to be one heck-of-a-game :)
Hm.. trying to decide on how best to spend the XP.
I know I definitely want to put 1 point into Etiquette and 1 point into Athletics (Given her athletics performance in the module, I think she should be taking at least one point in this :-p) My current thought is to put one point each into two of Courtier, Hunting or Go - I'm just not sure which two to go for yet.
I know this means Yukari's insight rank won't change, but I feel she should have a slightly better skill spread than she currently does.
Heihachi is in, I need to play him in an adventure that isn't quite....so....etiquettte/duel based, though I am spending 1XP on Iaijutsu...he learned a little there..
I'm commited to a PfPRG LoF, but I'm signing up for the LBS Version as well...I'm sure Shisumo will rock it.

It's sad to see you go Ferret, Shiba Utsuro will be missed! We hardly knew him.
Shisumo thanks for the terrific mod! It has been entirely too much fun, as you can see I became addicted and posted like a fanatic here. I hope no one minded but it's hard to beat an addiction :P The mod also opened up the whole ruleset of L5R; it's a fun system. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next mod, I can hardly wait.
About the LBS game: I'm interesting but also kind of on the fence. It uses the same ruleset as L5R (Which means I don't need to get another book - I'm kind of poor at the moment)? I'm also unfamiliar with the world so perhaps a little info there would help (basic stuffs mainly).
Now to find where I should put my XP...
PS. Nagatsuna was fantastically RPed! I was inspired to base a character off of him for a tabletop game I'm in. I hope he's kept fairly similar for our next mod :)

Heh, Nagatsuna came out much, MUCH different than I had originally envisioned him. The social aspect of the adventure made me add more along those lines than I originally thought he was going to have (I'm not sure it came completely together yet, tell me what you guys think if you would). I'll have to think about what and where to tweak him. Think I'll save his xp to up his willpower since it's so critical for him. I love the wrap up he got and would love to continue to play him.
So in short, yes I would like to continue.

Willpower is absolutely critical for him, so I encourage your decision there. I just hope he lives long enough to buy it up... ;)
Hands of Stone is a potent ability, but if you plan to be a weapons-based warrior, I could easily see that getting let go. In fact... you could actually cash it in for XP rather than character points (because 3rd Ed Rev specifically says unspent CP become XP). If there were something else you wanted to cash in for 2 XP, you could buy up your Willpower right now...

One of the guys I play tabletop HoR with on occasion has nearly 2 dozen 1 Rank skills. He's not a fan of unskilled penalties. ;D
If you want me to suggest something for you on the basis of future utility, I'd say Hunting and Courtier, leaving Go for later.

And I promise, the probability of dueling in either of the next two mods is extremely low, and the need for court stuff... well. It's a very different milieu, let's just put it that way.

Mishi is in basically the same situation, and we're gonna try to work through it, so if you want to play and have the time, I'd be happy to have you jump in.
The world is actually the same as L5R, just elsewhere on the same continent. In more practical terms, though, it's to the medieval Arabia/North Africa what L5R is to feudal Japan. The primary inspiration for the setting is the tales of the 1,001 Nights, so we're talking sultans, jinn, magic carpets, wicked viziers, and so on.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, it means alot. Not to worry he won't be changing much. Was mostly looking for a way to up his willpower but I may just like all the little quirks his current skills and stuff give him (and hope he lives through 3 mods to buy it up - I don't think berserkers have a high life expectancy though so we will see). Hope the character does well in your game :)
I have decided to be simple and go with the Mirumoto family and the Mirumoto Bushi school. I will put the character's crunchy stuff up on Friday but I am not sure of the time because it depends on if I get called into work or not in the morning.

Ok, I've put a point each into Athletics, Etiquette, Courtier and Hunting. I don't think I'll be going for the two-dozen 1-point skills :D. I just felt that Yukari should be a little more rounded in the skills department after how she turned out to be in play. :) She did pretty well in each of those rounds in the tournament too, so she has had some practice in each one that hopefully justifies them.

Outfit content is basically fixed - the only way around it is to actually have the cash to buy something outright, and I think only Megumi could theoretically buy even ashigaru armor. (There are a very, very few mods that offer extra equipment, but they are rare.) For the vast majority of characters, what you start with is what you play with, period.

Nagatsuna is good to go. After much deliberation I decided that his character sheet as it stands is what I am going to roleplay with. I'll save up xp to buy willpower. I'd love to buy some 1 point skills based off the last adventure but it seems that willpower need not be put off longer than necessary. So no xp spent, all of it saved.
Luckily I'm subscribed to his art page so I got to see it already. Butterfrog is an incredibly talented artist, I love the picture of Yukari he made for you.

Just a couple of minor tweaks from where I'm sitting:
1) You're missing Kyujutsu as a School Skill.
2) Your Insight should be 130, from what I can see.
3) Which Skill is your Kata attached to? (I love that kata, by the way.)
I'd also appreciate it if you'd go ahead and do the math for your combat statistics: attacks, damages, initiative and TN to be Hit. Just makes it a lot easier for me to handle combats when they come up, and honestly will probably help you out as well...

1) nothing much, really, save for carting around the Armor to court for a year and then passing it off to the next Champion the following year. There are parallels to being a beauty pageant queen.
2) Only those of general reasonableness, inasmuch as she is still a young and only recently-graduated samurai, albeit one with more respect than most in the wake of her Championship victory.

Ume knew the Lion would not much longer reel from the blows dealt a year ago, and moves towards the shrine to re-affirm her commitment to duty, since she soon expects to need to place it before her own wishes, much more than ever before. She has slipped, but mercifully it had gone unnoticed. Now was the time to get back to her feet, and make her mother and father proud after all.

There could be a host of reasons though maybe considering that I put some points into Divinations: Omens that he could have been led by the Omens to seek the Shrine in lands of the Lion Clan. He could be on a holy pilgrimage as well considering that he has more in-common with monks then his fellow Mirumoto bushi (when you take into consideration his disadvantages).

Because I am impatient... the game thread. Daichi's bit is pending, but shouldn't be too far behind.
Considering that he is still a Bushi and the Virtues are important to him and add that he is idealistic about Bushido then I would say that the Shrine of the Virtues would have significant importants to him as tenets of the virtues of Bushido.
