Ianthé Jack
"Alright", Ianthé announced. "We have our destination. We have our traveling plans. We know what we are to obtain. If anyone has any other questions, please do ask, otherwise we should see to our equipment and outfitting. Is an hour sufficient for all of us to gather our personal effects and return back here?"
Heren Andercrote
Was it 700 each or total?
'Indeed, I shall return post haste. I will fetch a horse, and procure a wagon and donkey for our journey overland. Not all of you need purschase horses, as the wagon shall be quite spacious.'
At this Heren bows to the ladies present, and nods at the men and the lad Mel. He then withdraws to ready his equipment and sundries.
Heren is going to purchase a light horse and saddle (85 gp), aswell as a donkey and wagon (43 gp) for 128 gp. The wagon will probably accomodate everyone else, so you need only buy a horse if you think you'll need to be up close and personal, should we be attacked on the plains.
Adjunta Paul
|
"We will need a tent or two," Adjunta muses, "not all roads have accommodations, even in Taldor. I will ride in the wagon so you needn't worry about a horse for me. But we will need feed and water for the horses and you'd better get a couple of animals to move the cart."
Heren Andercrote
Current Travel Shopping List:
-3 tents
-donkey
-wagon
-rations x6
-waterskins
-bedroll x6
Heren -light horse with saddle
=141 gp, 6 sp
So if Ianthe gives me 110gp of the party fund, I'll pay half the price of my horse myself, and the second half once we earn some individual money. And get us set up for the journey, with an assumed stop in Old Sehir to supply.
How about maybe lanterns and some oil, and fire wood?
And I assume we'll get the rest of the food in Old Sehir.
How's that sound?
Melissa Evendale
Mel looks doubtful as Heren outlines the plans.."Look like I said I don't know much about animals but would a single donkey be enough for a wagon load of people and supplies...I'd have thought two mules at least would be the better option, at least thats what I see towing most of the light wagons round here..or Oxen even..at least if they die on us we can eat them?"
Heren Andercrote
Current Travel Shopping List:
-3 tents
-ox
-wagon
-rations x6
-waterskins
-bedroll x4
Heren -light horse with saddle
Malgasir -light horse with saddle
-28 gp, 6 sp Heren's contribution
=205 gp
Adjusted bedroll number, we can never have enough waterskins.
So is that okay, I don't think we need to bog the game down too much more in logistics.
If no-one says anything to the contrary, I'll assume Heren buys everything on that list with money that Ianthe Jack gives him, and we meet back in an hour. Okay?
Ianthé Jack
Ianthé was in the same situation as Malgasir, as she already had to travel to reach the temple, and had arrived on the day, so her pack was already nearby. However, she did request a blank piece of parchment, spending some time copying the map and letting it dry before rolling it back up and placing it in her scroll case before going outside to wait.
As everyone checks back in, she nods, comparing her gear to the list that Heren was keeping. "I have a bedroll as well. A Horse I would rather do without, to be honest. There are other manners for transit that I should be able to manage in time." Leaning on her staff, she looked at the group, thoughtful. "I will ask that you add a prybar to that list, as well as one length of rope, at least. A chest for storage is a decision I would put to the group, if we are likely to be carrying things requiring some measure of security."
The bag of gold that was given to her was lowered to the ground as she beckoned Heren over to count out the gold. Thankfully, the composition of the group was male save for her, she felt comfortable in doing this, though she was aware of the attention it may draw. Frowning at the weight of the bag, she shook her head. "This is also going to get converted before we leave town", she stated in exasperation. "Toting this much around, even with the six of us is just not comfortable."
With the money counted, the bag was closed and tied, and Ianthé looked up at the group with a wry grin. "While I am not overly one to dwell on the stereotypes of my sex, I will have to ask three of you gentlemen to accompany me to the moneychanger, and one of you to carry it. Furthermore, I'd like to find a cartographer and stop by before we leave. I am not inclined to wholly trust a map that is outdated."
Heren Andercrote
'As much as the chance for chivalry entices me lady, unless someone else you is familiar with the purchase of livestock and horseflesh is willing, I shall have to go and make our purchases. Truly though, my preference would be to swell my chest like some prancing lion cub of court and stride at your side in pride.'
'Alas,' Heren says with a wry smile. 'The pressing duties of practicality call.'
'You gentlemen do keep our lady companion and to a lesser extent our finding safe, now.'
With this he bows with all the formality of one of the bearded to a duchess towards Ianthe, nods in comradery to the menfolk and the lad, and strides off to see about the purchases of provisions.
Adjunta Paul

"I find people are usually less likely to bother a priest," Adjunta says, "not that we're threatening as much as we're seldom worth the frustration and risk involved. Plus the veil does lend a certain amount of mystic. People often wonder if I have something to hide. I will accompany you. As a priest of Abadar maintaining fair trade is part of duties."
Heren Andercrote
'Of course man, you look like you'd have a good eye, and you did want a mount of your own, let's enquire after a good establishment.'
If we're going to skip ahead the hour, me and Malgasir will meet you back at the start with horses, ox, wagon and sundries in tow.
If you guys are going to roleplay out the trip to the moneylender, I'd like to make a Diplomacy check to find a nearby stables and general store.
Ianthé Jack
As they made their way through the sprawling capital towards the merchant's district, making their way through the press of the crowds of people going about their day-to-day, Ianthé looked over the three who had chosen to accompany her, trying to gauge a sense of their personalities. Their meeting had not taken too long, and judging by the sun overhead, it was noon-ish.
Mel she figured was the Jack-of-All-Trades type, a bit of versatility to accompany Heren's straightforward manner. Malgasir was their guide, so she expected him to be of the tracker type, especially seeing as how he seemed to not particularly like the press of the city. Adjunta seemed to be their designated divine representative, for all that she knew about Abadar, which was little. Finally, there was--
"Hasim", she began as they were walking, her voice most certainly more of a no-nonsense tone than 'ladylike'. It seemed she was used to speaking like that which indicated her experience to be in the soldiery field, or at least somewhere nearby. "Please pardon if I am prying, but while capabilities are rather easily discerned oftentimes, I admit to having some trouble determining your capabilities in regards to the group makeup. As you have chosen to ride in the cart with Adjunta and I, and you do not carry yourself as one of military bearing, I am honestly at a loss as to the church's reasons for including a merchant."
Indeed, Ianthé wore a slight frown, a shift of her shoulder in a shrug jangling her silver bracelets and resettling the unstrung crossbow hanging from her pack. "Would you enlighten me, please?"
While she did intend to get some of the money they possessed converted into gems, there were two other stops in fact, that she planned to make. One was a cartographer's, in order to find a scroll or legend book of the standard symbols in usage currently, and a brief detour by a wizard's shop, to see if there were any useful scrolls that might be necessary.
Ah, well! That allotment of monies definitely changes things! Also, what season is this?
Hasim, I was looking back at your posts (and then at your character sheet when I didn't find a description) for a general idea of looks, dress, etc.. You have no clothing mentioned on your sheet either. ^^;

Hasim gets a mischievous smirk on his face. "Well, I COULD answer you by reminding you of your conversation with the people of Iomedae. When you asked them for a list of what we're looking for, the answer was 'We don't have a list per se.'"
Hasim glances sideways at Adjunta Paul, checking that he was out of earshot, and then, in little more than a whisper, too softly for Paul to hear, Hasim adds:
More loudly, Hasim continues: "So you may need someone who would know a valuable artifact when he sees one.
"But I think I know what you really mean. You're asking what good I'll be if we get attacked. I haven't mentioned it, because some people have expressed disbelief, but I am born to a family that fated by kismet for greatness. There is no power greater than fate. Even from far away, I can put attackers to sleep. With a simple touch, I can give others a taste of destiny that cannot be mistaken. And I can fight when the need arises."
You have no clothing mentioned on your sheet either. ^^;
I assumed that each character begins play with an outfit worth 10 gp or less. I'll confess that I have hardly ever bothered to write descriptions of clothing.
If my assumption is wrong, or if it doesn't sit well with this group, I can fix that. In fact, we could even RP it. We could say that Hasim is wearing a traditional Qadiran robe, and one of the other PCs could comment that I should get a change of outfit in order to avoid trouble.

Hasim, I was looking back at your posts (and then at your character sheet when I didn't find a description) for a general idea of looks, dress, etc.....
Sorry. With all my other aliases, I at least posted height, weight, and hair and eye color (except for the skeletal champion, who has no hair nor eyes.) I don't know why I forgot to write one for Hasim.
I just threw in a brief description.

Ianthe , you find a codebook for 5 gp without problems
When you come into a magical shop , the proprietor will explains to you that he has all 0 level spells in stock either as scroll or potion when possible but that for all others he usually takes an order and then the order will be disponible after a few days .
Also , you are at the beginning of September .
Ianthé Jack
Thankfully, they ran across a cartographer's shop in which she purchased a notebook for map markings currently in use, and passed by a magic shop where she perused the scrolls, looking for something in particular, but the timespan that the proprietor quoted was not particularly desirable, given that they were currently on the job. So, even though she rather wanted to wait, she knew the rest of the group would probably not. So she passed, and they made their way to the moneychanger.
Ianthé was still trying to repress a grin at Hasim's words when they reached their destination. Adjunta was currently carrying the money, so she took a few seconds outside of the building. "Gentlemen, while our traveling expenses are lighter by somewhere in the vicinity of two-ten, before this gets converted, would you all rather it be held by one or divvied up to be held individually?"
Adjunta Paul
|
"I will respect the groups decision," Adjunta says diplomatically, "there are advantages to either choice, but I think the lions share of the equipment has been bought, but the real expenses are yet to come. I'd cation we be frugal with our remaining funds, it may seem like an abundance, but there's food, tolls, and inns to drain our coffers, and I fear, we should also prepare to pay taxes by legitimate powers or otherwise."
Melissa Evendale
"Hah ..You mean bandits, brigands and the dregs of the mercenary companies that Taldor hires to 'protect' it's people...Aye there's been a deal of trouble lately..some dispute over a vinyard that threatened to blow up the whole county"
yes that is a direct reference to the PFS society scenario 'Decline of Glory'

Ok , the discussion seems to be lagging .
Heren , you'll need a second ox for the wagon.
Let's get this show on the road and if necessary we'll backtrack .
Leaving Oppara via the Lion's gate and his throng of beggars , you begin to follow the canal banks. You quickly determine that while you are going a little faster than the riverbarges drawn by teams of oxen against the flow , any walking man quickly pass your wagon.
About one hour later, you find a bifurcation in the road. One way following the canal , the other on the left pass the canal by a bridge with a tollhouse . the inspector quickly inspect you and ask for a 1,5 sp price for the whole of you (1 cp per person , 2cp for the ox et 5 for the wagon). The rest of the day is peaceful enough with just a further toll for leaving a district and entering another ...
Around you , you can see rich and isolated country houses at a distance while in the hamlets you pass the houses are much less rich some being no more than hovels. At the end of the day , you reach a village with one inn and some services . At this rate , you should reach Old sehir in three more days .
technical considerations : you bought a wagon in Oppara rather than a cart in Old Sehir . I consider a wagon go half as fast as a man on foot .
Now where do you plan to pass the night ?
Adjunta Paul

"I suggest we make use of the inns while they're available," Adjunta says, "they will tend and feed our animals and we can get a bath and a warm meal. We can still be frugal though, the gentlemen can share and Ianthé, because you are the only lady in the group, will naturally need her privacy.
"Besides, there are likely vagrancy laws about these parts and we might loose whatever we hoped to save with fines and taxes."
Adjunta Paul
|
Mel nods in agreement .."I suggest we use the common room if we really want to be frugal..besides it looks like we might have more than each others company in any bed they would provide us"
"The common rooms are far worse if you're talking about lice and bed bugs," Adjunta says, "the common room also has other undesirables, con men, prostitutes, thieves, you name you could run across it in the common room. I prefer a little privacy, besides I find that if people feel you have money they treat you better. You might find a slightly better cut of meat, a more generous bowl of soup, your animals could get better care. Money is a powerful intensive and people that populate the common room don't do so out of choice."
Melissa Evendale
"You speak as if I had no experience of such places Father..I am well aware of the dangers a common room holds..and I am also well able to take care of myself in such a place."
Mel takes another long look at the Inn...
"Well we might as well find out what they are going to overcharge us.."
Hasim Bin Omar

"Of course, spending money more generously can also attract the attention of the aforementioned thieves...
"Nevertheless, I agree. I've found that people who hope to get money are less likely to give me dirty looks. We just need to keep a sharp eye on those who DON'T hope to get money from us... by honest means."

"If you wish you could pose as a servant to one of us," Adjunta says, "I can't say that I approve of such trickery, but we must do what we must to make life bearable sometimes."
"It is true what you two are saying about drawing attention," Adjunta says, "bandit scouts for example might pose as guilds or helpful travelers. Best keep our business to ourselves. regrettably there is little we can do to keep these predators from chasing us down on the road except appear to be more trouble then we're worth. Thankfully bandits are all but non-existent on Taldor roads."
Adjunta sighs, stands and stretches.
"Of course there are many, many other legitimate powers to worry about, and they might seek to tax anything of value that we discover. But we'll worry about them on the way back."
Melissa Evendale
"Legitimate powers...and by that I take it you mean any petty lordling with a beard who decides he wants what is legally the churches property. But as you say we will deal with that if and when it happens"
Mel heads for the Inn's door
Ianthé Jack
Ianthé had spent the majority of their travel reading the cartography book, making mental note of various notations that were likely to come up. Occasionally, she would refer to the meticulous copy of the map that she had made, with most of the care given to the areas surrounding their planned path, then at their surroundings, and back at the book. Her contributions to any conversations going on were minimal, with a line or two here and there, before returning her attention to the book again.
Once they stopped, and debated the inn, she carefully rolled up the parchment copy of the map and stowed it, along with her book as well, her pack never far from her side, and her pale wooden staff almost always in contact with her and never out of arm's reach. She stood with the rest, lifting her pack with a bit of long-familiar effort, and paid attention to the conversation, giving a wry smile at Mel's comment and fell in just behind him.
"We are six, and newcomers. Best to make the entrance a good one, men!"
Malgasir
Malgasir rode along with the caravan, never taking his eyes off their surroundings. Never caring much for the authorities of the cities, he kept to himself, only every once in a while glancing back to let them know he was listening. Every so often Malgasir would ride forward a fair distance and check the road and surrounding area for ambushes. As the group contemplates the use of the Inn, Malgasir adds "I am not strong in money matters. I trust your decision will suit me just fine." He says to the group before entering the Inn.
robin
Entering the inn , you can see it caters principally to drovers who after a day driving their beasts just want to drink , eat and sleep .
The inn keepeer can indeed give you rooms with only three persons by bed. so this will means that 2 of the male characters will share their bed with a stranger . Ianthe is more lucky has there is only one other female who has asked for a room . The meals are , let's say it's good there is stew to tenderize the bread but there are plenty of each and the ale is not too bad .
During the meal , you can't help notice the other woman in the inn who is a dressed in a rough robe and about 25 years . She was already sitted when you enterd but changed places when a man dressed as a clerk entered the inn to a table with only a place left . The clerk did indeed try to discuss something with her but she sent him packing curtly after which the clerk did speak a little with the innkeeper in order to find a room .
