Halsanna Firdraes
Halsanna made no move to particularly conceal her weapon, trusting that her position to the wide left of the doorway was enough to let her kukri that was strapped to her thigh be covered by her body. Despite her state of dress, she lost some of the mannerisms that she had picked up in her training, trying to be casual about her presence with the group. She probably would not be mistaken for a country tomboy, but she could definitely be less threatening, especially for those that expected nothing of women but the stereotypical gender role. Granted, she had little hope of appearing as something that she was not, but she tried anyway. 'Vae would likely pull most of the attention to her by the force of her personality alone.
Still, she did watch the reactions of the others for any sign of something to worry about. If her gaze lingered a little longer on Ewald than others, who would really notice?
Amunrel
Amunrel quietly glancing at Halsanna before returning his attention to Ewald, Adjunta, Jemiche and his mother.
Sense Motive: 1d20+7: 9+7 for total of 16 and Perception/Sight & Sound as he's paying close attention to whats going on: 1d20+9: 15+9 for total of 24 meaning He's focusing to see if his suspicions regarding Jemiche's actions are accurate
Smiling he quickly hides his expression before Halsanna notices and notices Vi frowning as she catches his quick change in expression.
Amunrel
Halsanna , Arundel , does this mean you advanced enough to see the scene rather than just hearing it ?
Apologies assumed Halsanna was presently looking on at what was going on. Amunrel would have been standing behind Ewald and Adjunta when they first introduced themselves and he'll remain in the background whilst the pair are talking to Jemiche unless his mother has problems with an elf accompanying Ewald and Adjunta.
Amunrel wonders what possible reason could have changed Jemiche's viewpoint so suddenly hoping the reason is more benign than his suspicions that he aired to the others earlier.
Vivaeri Firdraes
Vivaeri's as close as she can be to the others while keeping out of sight too. Just in case it's useful to keep one face Jemiche won't recognize later. ;)
Vivaeri crossed her arms leaned against the wall nearby, her right foot tucked in and tapping against it. She listened as intently as she could, eventually looking at her sister to see if she could catch her eye and silently mouth, "He sounds like a child!" She knew the man had been called simple, but now...now she knew for certain that she would have felt guilty for pulling the ruse she had planned earlier.
She glanced over again, unsure if Halsanna was paying as much attention to what she thought she may have been. She's just keeping an eye on things in case something starts...that's all. Don't be silly.

Strange, my previous post seems to have been eaten
"My companions are anxious to get back to searching I'm afraid," Adjunta says as way of an apology, "this cat has been specially breed and raised and has never been out on it's own before. I don't doubt that you've done a fine job raising him and I'm sorry if all these people are making him nervous, are you feeling nervous Jemiche? Maybe we can have the young lady ask him the questions and my companion here and I will just listen alright? Any detail he might remember will be quite helpful. You like helping people Jemiche? Well today you might be able to help us and a scared little cat."
Adjunta waves Vivaeri over,
"This is Vivaeri," Adjunta says, "she's going to ask you about what you did this morning. Try to tell her everything you remember because any thing might help us. Hopefully we can find our cat before it's killed by a predator."
Halsanna Firdraes
Halsanna also stepped back to let her sister by, giving her a playful nudge as she passed, so that she would almost bump into Ewald, for no other reason than she could. She did watch both of their reactions, for all that she was not that good at reading people as well as her sister or uncle. After that, she made herself scarce, heading out of sight, out of the vestibule to wait outside. That many people in that place was too crowded for her to be comfortable, not that she was going to be able to be comfortable for the span of Ewald's stay, she expected.
Once outside and into clear air, she took a long breath and let it out evenly, looking around at nothing in particular. She enjoyed the smell of the rain after it had passed, though she was thankful that it had not rained too hard or long. Mud was a small annoyance, but the smell of standing water after a while-- not to mention the insects-- was not something she was especially fond of. Leaning against the wall, she took up the spot her sister had previously occupied, listening to the conversation with half an ear, watching the evening descend.
Vivaeri Firdraes
Vivaeri wasn't expecting Adjunta to wave her inside, but came in right away just in time to be nudged by her sister. She caught her balance before bumping into Ewald, looking at him up and down with an annoyed expression, as if her "misstep" was somehow his fault even though she was already plotting some form of revenge against Halsanna. Nothing cruel, just petty.
She cleared her throat and approached Jemiche, guilty for having considered lying to him now that she finally saw him. Best to put him at ease...
"Hullo Jemiche." she said with a friendly smile as she sat on the floor and crossed her legs, motioning for Jemiche to do the same. "Yeah, we need some help with a cat! You like cats, huh? That's good! We have a friend who lost a cat today. He lost a bunch of animals actually. They're very special animals too. I don't understand all of it, but they've got a bit of magic in them. Or they can."
She reached back into her pack and pulled out three copper rings, holding them up before Jemiche. "You like magic, don't you?" She asked with a grin as she began to twirl the rings about her fingers, subtly casting a cantrip to make them change color as they did so.
Casting Prestidigitation
"Do you know anyone that can use magic? Some of them are able to give those special animals good homes. It's a good thing too, because some of those animals aren't very good at taking care of themselves out in the wild. They need people to take care of them."
"Don't worry though! Most of those animals I was talking about are safe! We're just trying to get the cat now. We're definitely going to find him so we can feed him and keep him safe. It's just that we'll be able to do it faster if we know more about what happened today."
"Have you seen a cat today, Jemiche? Have you heard anything about any animals in trouble?" she looked at him with hopeful eyes, as if the safety of all those familiars-to-be depended on him.

Ewald Salodar
Ewald blinks in surprise at the look he gets from Vae..and I thought we had been getting towards actually liking each other he thinks as she moves towards the doorway...and then she turns on her charm full blast at the poor bewildered jemiche and he feels an admiration for her he hasn't felt all day. She seems to be putting the boy at ease..her voice soothing yet still keeping to the point. Ewald realises that his betrothed..for they are that still whether they want it or not...is not the flighty young thing she likes people to think she is...
robin
" No problem , Miss ! I'll help ! I love helping animals! Me and my bestest friend already helped free some today! Animals should not belong to people you know , they want to go free and we should help them do so ! Of course , snakes are different , they don't move very well so they need to be brought to a a snake place but cats, you can just free them ! where is your cat , miss ? "
Vivaeri Firdraes
"Ah..." Vivaeri frowned for a split-second. She was going to have to step lightly to avoid hurting the boy. "Your friend? If he could help too, that would be wonderful! He sounds like he knows a lot about animals. But that snake..." Vivaeri shivered. "I'm scared of snakes. Do you remember where you took him? My sister and I have been travelling in the area and I wouldn't want to get too close to where he lived..."
She was eager to find out who was using the boy. I swear when we meet this guy I'm gonna kick him right in the...
Ewald Salodar
Ewald excuses himself and moves downstairs and out of the building to speak to the Sherrif motioning Halsanna to come along
"It would appear the boy was persuaded into this act by a druid named Whapeta, Sherrif..do you know of this man..and if so where might we find him
Halsanna Firdraes
Halsanna was mildly confused as to why Ewald would require her to come along with him few seconds, though she followed after him with a delicately arched eyebrow. He seemed to be rather focused on what he was doing, so she asked no questions about what he thought, and instead let him take the lead as he headed directly back to the sheriff.
What surprised her the most was that he headed in to the building directly, bypassing the guards and barging in the door. 'Well', she thought, 'I suppose if I were not trying to keep the knowledge of my nobility to a minimum, I could do what he did.' Aware of how his actions looked, Halsanna stayed behind and tried to calm down any of the guards that looked like they might have been willing to object to Ewald's barging.
robin
You leave the building , the sheriff is indeed outside with Ned waiting for you . When Ewald has spoken , he strokes his beard thoughtfully
' A druid called Whapeta ? It doesn't ring a bell. Did Jemiche give a description ?'
Halsanna , I think you are a little confused there .... To recap , Jemiche lives in the third storey of a buildin . You ara actually speaking to him at his doorstep while the sheriff is waiting outside
Amunrel
"Sorry miss , Mister Whapeta took it , he is a druid you know so he does know about animals! I don't know exactly where he is , he does not like towns , you know ! Cats are special animals , their natural envi... place is in town , we should look around the town , I guess..."
"I'd like to meet this druid, being an elf and all, far from home it would be nice to meet someone practicing the old faith, say I wonder what he looks like?" Amunrel whispers casually glancing only once at Vi.
Diplomacy check to avoid upsetting those present: 1d20+5: 9+5 for a total of 14 hoping this encourage Viv to ask Jemiche what he remembers about his druidic friend.
Vivaeri Firdraes
Vivaeri caught her uncle's meaning quickly. "Yes, your friend sounds like he cares a lot about animals. I wish I could meet him. What is he like?" She continued to perform minor tricks and illusions, hoping to keep the boy entertained and helpful.
She had doubts about the goodness of Jemiche's friend. It was hard to assume the best about someone who would use someone of the boy's nature such as this.
Amunrel
~Hmm, if this person is a druid why just take the viper, I can't imagine that bedecked fool of a mage would dress down for the occasion but what if he charmed the lad and gave him a simple excuse to explain things... still that would also mean the people where Jemiche works should have seen him~, Amunrel mentally thinks to himself.
~But who else had reason or cause to commit this?~ Amunrel mentally ponders.
[oo]Using "~" to differentiate between spoken and uunspoken comments[/ooc]
Halsanna Firdraes
Halsanna did her best to keep a reaction off of her face as she heard Ewald slip while talking to the sheriff. For all that her "neutral" face did not show, her green eyes were lightened with amusement as she watched the exchange with the sheriff. Inevitably, her ears turned towards the conversation that her sister was having with Jemiche, she wondered just what they had done with the snake. It being a viper as well, that called for some careful handling a bit beyond what she would have been willing to perform, but then again, she was not a druid. They had a way with animals, she had heard.
She stood with her arms folded under her chest, giving her best 'official business' look, which is to say that she gave off a slight air that made her seem like she was a cut above the guardsmen, and not afraid to show it. Truthfully, while she did admire the skill of her sister when it came to interacting with people -- at times she felt rather clumsy, socially when in her presence-- she was hoping that all this ferreting and talking would be ending soon. Oh, Halsanna was fully capable of remaining up and able long into the night, that did not mean that she wanted to.
Ewald Salodar
Ewald turns to 'sanna and grins...
"Looks like we might have some action soon."
He settles his weapons and tightens the buckles on his armour
"We don't know who or what we are facing ..there may be others involved in this..just stay alert and watch you back...and your sisters. I'll look after the others...though I wish your father had not had to leave so soon..another blade would have been useful
Halsanna Firdraes
Halsanna, having removed her armor and left it in their room at the inn, perked up at Ewald's words, giving a short nod of acknowledgment and gave a mental inventory of her equipment, realizing that she had left the majority of her equipment with her armor. A small smile still pulled up one corner of her mouth, her normally bland features (while perhaps impressive given her heritage, she knew were nothing particularly special by comparison) gaining a bit of fierce intent. "Then I will have to prepare", she stated, that smile of hers widening slightly.
Halsanna went back to the vestibule and looked around the corner at her sister, checking to see what she had with her at the time. Since she was heading back to the inn to get her armor and gear, she might as well grab whatever it was that her sister had left behind when they had last departed the inn. She took off at a brisk pace, speaking to Ewald as she passed. "I will return soon."

Since you are in the right direction , I'll avance the plot a little [ooc]
Under Vivaeris gentle questioning , Jemiche reveal to you he does not where his friend lives , he just knows he lives in the forest ...
He only met him twice after all : once at the inn where he worked before where the druid explained to him that using animals was wrong and then this morning responding to a meeting the druid had given him in order to begin the liberation of the animals !
Jemiche's mother is aghast at all this but does not quite dare interrupt you
[ooc] For your informations , none of your sense motives rolls were sufficient to determine if Jemiche is charmed or not . Now , go on with your further questions ...

"Cough, cough... does this friend have a name?" Amunrel whispers raising a hand to his face.
Ewald Salodar
Amurel hasnt being paying attention has he we got a name almost at the start of this conversation
Ewald waits outside his eyes watching the sun as it heads towards the horizon..though there is a fair bit of daylight left..it is Midsommer after all he does not relish going after a Druid on his home ground at night
Robin...please go to the wilderlands game and level Aude up..I won't ask again

Oops overlooked it! Thanks for the reminder
"I wonder where Jemiche first met his friend?" Amunrel whispers as he mentally kicks himself for forgetting the name Jemiche first mentioned wondering what was getting into him today...
Vivaeri Firdraes
Seeing Jemiche's mother's reaction and rethinking what could happen if Jemiche were to see his "friend" outed as a troublemaker, Vivaeri stopped in her tracks. "You know, actually, it's getting very late. Maybe it would be best if you stayed at home. Your mother would probably be worried sick if we kept you away. Maybe we can talk again tomorrow! I'm sure the cat will be fine until then! He's a tough one!"
She tried to give the man's mother a look to suggest that she not worry, and that they should probably speak later in order to explain matters.
I think we've learned everything there is to learn from Jemiche, and taking him along would just put him at risk and anger his mother. Before we leave him though, we have an idea about where to look though, don't we? Does knowing this druid lives in the nearby forest narrow it down enough for a ranger to track him down? (I assumed the forests in the area weren't that large, since Taldor is so settled and developed...)
robin
Does knowing this druid lives in the nearby forest narrow it down enough for a ranger to track him down? [/ooc]
Absolutely not . You don't even have a name for this forest and whether if's far from the town or not . And Jemiche just knows it's the forest . Apparently the druid did not give him more informations about how to find him
Amunrel

"I don't suppose Jemiche could give a description of him especially where he first saw him in case we need his friend's help finding that lost cat, Hmm?" Amunrel whispers to Vi.
Won't push this but I suspect knowing where Jemiche first met this "druid" might help find someone else who might know who he is
Amunrel
Amunrel , I already replied as to when Jemiche did see the druid . He is happy to give you a description.
Sorry seems I've been missing a little too much of late
"I guess we really ought to see if we can find this friend of yours and see if he can tell us more about what he's preaching," Amunrel sighs as he keeps his tone light and polite without hidden meaning.
Diplomacy check I believe: 1d20+5 and only rolled a 5 for a total of 10! oh dear not my night after all!
Adjunta Paul
|
Adjunta smiles . . . although few could tell. They weren't likely to get much more out of the boy but the pieces of the puzzle were coming together. The likely viper thief was a probably a wizard, probably someone somewhat familiar to the area, and undoubtedly someone who knew there was a shipment of familiars due. There was one person in town that fit that description . . . but that would be too obvious. There was no reason to make the same mistake he'd made with the sheriff. There was no reason to jump to conclusions.
"One last question," Adjunta whispers to Vivaeri, "ask him if he knows a man named Estorion or has seen anyone with a beautiful quarterstaff that has a red gem on the top."
Vivaeri Firdraes
Vivaeri nodded with a smile. She thought she could see where the priest was going with this...
"Oh, Jemiche! I just had one more question. I am sorry to take so much of your time!" She bowed apologetically. "Have you ever met anyone named Estorian? Or anyone with...well, what did it look like...ah, a really, really nice staff, with a big red gem on the top?"
Sorry, it looks like a post of mine got eaten earlier...too late for that now...
