Madison, WI Society Action?

Local Play

I'm just checking to see if anyone out there is able & willing to get some events going in the Mad City.

Well, I'm in Madison, and I'd love to play and/or DM. Haven't seen any other activity in the area so far though. It looks like most of the WI folks are Milwaukee based.

Well, I'll keep an eye on this thread. I'm interested in participating in Society events, but I'm not a convention-goer.

I'm Madison area as well, with little time for conventions out of the area (having 2 kids will do that to you). So, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread too.

Well, that's three counting a DM. Not bad so far...

I live about an hour and a half west of Madison, but would be more than willing to drive that distance for some Society Action (depending on the date and time of course).

Alright, is three players enough for a Society adventure? Or shall we try to grab on to a couple more?

I think based on past Paizo products 3 players would get slaughtered in most scenarios (though I haven't read any so maybe I'm wrong).

I should also note that when I said 'play/DM' above I would not want to only DM. Some sort of rotating DM system would be ideal, so everyone gets a chance to play most adventures.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye here in case more people show up.

I'd be willing to DM after playing a while. Gotta get used to Pathfinder; most of my experience is 3.5 and earlier.

Paizo doesn't reward GMs differently than players, do they? Like how the RPGA had "certified" DMs, with a separate rewards tier?

Sovereign Court

From what I understand Pathfinder Society scenarios are straight up 3.5. Pathfinder rules do not start for the scenarios until they are finalized sometime next year.

Also I agree. A DM rotation would be good and we would certainly need 4 players if we want even a chance for the entire party to survive. I'll keep an eye on this thread. Once we get another response though, we should probably move to email.

Wait, so even character races and classes, etc. are 3.5? In other words, absolutely no use of the PF Beta rulebook?

that is correct.

Cool. In that case, I can share the burden.

Sovereign Court

Great! From the sound of it, we could have a pretty good rotation going. Let's pick up one more player and schedule a session. You folks living in Madison have got to know at least one other gamer who would be willing to try out a 4-hour PFS scenario.

I would love to play next week sometime (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening) as it will be one of the few occassions I will be able to travel so freely.

I may know someone who's interested. He's an RPG newbie, but he's enthusiastic about checking out Pathfinder. Can we set a date?

A date would be most helpfull. I just made a convert to Pathfinder last week as well and from the sound of it he really wants to get involved with the society. Only problem is that both of us are at least an hour and 45 minutes from Madison. With the right date though, I'm sure we would both be willing to make the trip.

Then let's leave it to you and your companion, since you have a long drive. Tell us what works for you.

Also, who wants to GM the first scenario?

Just a note: I am unavailable to play/dm until the beginning of December, what with job applications and thanksgiving travels. If people want to play before then, great. I'll just try to join in at a later time.

cheers

It looks like it might take us that long to get this going the first time anyway.

In the meantime, suggestions for a venue? I'm thinking Pegasus Games.

I wont be able to come up with a date before December second anyway so I don't think we'll have to worry about that. I'll get back to you all as soon as possible though.

Oh and Pegasus games sounds like an excellent location.

On the old Highfolk LG Yahoo list, it looked they they were running PFS modules in the Milkwaukee area at a convention that was a few weeks ago. FYI.
