The description of CHimera Cove is a small coastal community from which the PCs stage a raid on a Pirate Base in some islands where they have their treasure and a Monster under their control.
THis is Identical to a fifteen year old Dungeon Magazine Adventure North of Narbarel? in which Narbarel is a small coastal community from which the PCs stage a raid on a Pirate Base in some islands where they have their treasure and a Monster (a Dragonturtle) under their control.

I wager that if you look through the hundreds and hundreds of adventures that were printed in Dungeon over the years you'd find one that's similar in plot to pretty much every advetnture when you boil it down to the base details like that.
"Treasure of Chimera Cove" has a similar plot to "Narbarel," and the author may have even been inspired by the earlier adventure (but since we gave him the plot requirements and outline and Narbarel wasn't on my mind when we did that... who knows?), but the adventure itself is not a carbon copy of Narbarel.

Yeah. In any case, it's not like it's such a freakishly unique plot that it wouldn't reappear. Pirates hiding in the islands with their treasure isn't such a weird thing (and if anything, it's based on real history), and having a monster under the control of the baddies is a pretty logical thing in a world with monsters and magic (a la Hound of the Baskervilles with more control). It's easy enough to see how the combination of the two things would occur more than once (as, obviously, the essential coolness of pirates means that pirates will appear and re-appear all the time). Sherlock Holmes and Captain Blood; how good is that?

I dont know...maybe Pirates who have a driftport (a bunch of ships lashed together as a floating Island) as their base of operations raiding worldwide (even on landlocked lakes) using an artefact that creates an interdimensional Storm and vortex.
just saying...
The Bloodswords
Koeogh the Fisherman watched as the terrible and unnatural storm lashed the little mountain lake with a fury. He wouldnt be going out in his little boat in this.
Then he saw the ships riding out of the Storm. He had heard descriptions of the huge sailing ships that plied the oceans of the world. The ships were heading toward the small mountain community that sat at the edge of the lake.
Koeogh ran toward the village....He didnt recognise the flags with the bloody scimitars but knew it would be bad.
DM Briefing: The Bloodswords sailing from the Driftport of Shadow raid a small landlocked community for slaves and booty using an artefact of Travel. The PCs may stow away to rescue the villagers or be taken as slaves.

Ahh.... "North of Narborel", a Chris Perkins adventure from Dungeon #49.
That was a pretty good one. If Treasure of Chimera Cove is even close to the same, it'll be a great adventure. Can't wait for it.
I think it's even older than that, Can Seapont be Saved was in Dragon #75 Jul 1983. Good times, a TPK there as I recall.
