Saw the first episode.
It seemed like hamfisted writing to me at first; there's a certain grace and eloquence that comes from unbotched authenticity that the show genuinely lacks. I hope they find their legs.
Anna Paquin, however, saves the whole thing. I'll watch this; I mean with Survivor, Dancing With The Stars, and the Lukewarm Race as alternatives, this is a damn good choice. It does have some really cool ideas so far, just a little hamfisted on the delivery.

On the bright side, at least the resolution of the season didn't involve Bill falling off the bleachers with the killer, thus saving Sookie and, somehow, the world.
Damn this show sucks. I really need to not watch it when it returns. I can't believe I gave it 12 episodes to stop sucking. I think there were maybe 2 good episodes in the entire run.

I just saw that this show was nominated by the Golden Globes for best tv show and best actress. Did it get better?! I only watched the first three or so episodes and I can't say I was impressed.

What?! Boobies?! I stopped watching the show an episode or two early, I guess.

QFT.
After nine episodes I outright admitted that it was terrible and I really wanted to never watch it again, but my OCD nature wouldn't let me give up that close to the end. (I can't believe it took my nine episodes to realize it was never getting any better.)

I really like this show... it is a cross between The Masquade and American Gothic.
Unfortunately they ruined it for me in the last episode. I was really disappointed as the should have made it a two parter instead of cramming SO much into one episode.
Heard the lead lady got a gold globe.. I was shocked. This is an average if not niche show... I just think vampires are the in thing in pop culture atm.

I just started watching this show last night; I'm at the end of the first season and I'm definitely a fan. Strangely, I find myself more interested in the sidereal story of Jason and Amy than Sookie and Bill. In fact, I think Tara and Sam are better drawn characters than Sookie and Bill, but that may be the actors more than the writing. Sadly, I picked up the first novel and was immediately and unremittingly disappointed. A strange case of the tv show being better than the original material.

...Tiffany?" seriously LOL!
And I think the main characters are pretty bland as well...course it was the same way with LOST. I LOVE the side stories...and Pam. I wanna do real bad things with Pam.
I think lafayette is my favorite character. The actor is one of the few actually talented actors on the show.

totally agree. Dude is still in the series but was supposed to be the body in the back of andys car at the end of season 1....SPOILER!
He was in the Soloist too. Took me a minute or two because he had facial hair and whatnot but then he did one of his patented head tilts and it was like, DAM! I really like him too.
