Well, Fable 2 just got a confirmed release date. October 21st for the US, 24th for Europe and later for everywhere else. Sorry Aussies!

Looks like an awesome game, in my opinion. I quite liked the first one, but I just hope this one delivers on all the promises that were made. The first game certainly didn't deliver on the promises, which I remember well!

I am SOO!!!!!!!! Looking forward to this game...

The first one had some good points but it felt like there was a lot missing. I'll keep my eye on this though, it is a good concept.

Sovereign Court

I've been playing the Pub Games for this, in order to start with gold and items in game. It's.. well, two of the Pub Games are fun. A card game and a Craps variant. Both of which are interesting, given a fantasy twist and the outcome is actually affectable by the player.

The third game, which is the equivalent of the one armed bandit, is nothing more then an exercise in pressing the A button over and over and over again. There is nothing the player can do to change the outcome. No ability to hold or anything. Which is rather poor design.

Either way, the items on offer are quite good looking. Whether or not they are worth 800 MS points I'll be able to say when I get the full game. Of course, if you've got the code to get the Pub Games for free, then that's quite a bonus.

Silver Crusade

I really hope this game turns out well, considering how angry I was at the first. Not because it didn't live up to it's hype(it didn't, but not many games could live up to the hype Molyneaux tends to foster), but because it really didn't feel like a fully fleshed out game. That and its "wide open world" was pretty much a series of trails with a couple of open park areas. And the fact that the good/evil system was so wonky(murdered three villages worth of peasants? Buy your way back to goodness!).

I think what was most upsetting was how long the game had been in development and the fact that the credits were half an hour long and it didn't feel any more refined than any other adventure game out at the time. It was just prettier.

That was my fist disapointment with the first game, I was expecting a sandbox type of game like the Elder Scrolls. My second disapointment with first game was it was way too short, only about 20 hours. I finished the game twice, once as good the other as evil, the same weekend I bought it. Other than those two points the first game was pretty cool and I allready have my copy of fabel 2 preordered at my local game store.

I had the first Fable for my Xbox, then got the upgraded version with added content. Either way, it was a cool game. Sadly, the only way I'll be able to get Fable 2 is if it comes out for the computer, but I thought I read that it was 360 exclusive.

Sadly it is.

Got Fable 2 last night and was only able to play for a couple of hours but these are some of the things I did notice.

1) Emotions interface is much easier to use and some of the emotions have a mini-game attached. The better the result on the game the more effective the emotions are.

2) The combat interface is different. X is for all melee attacks, flourishes and blocks, Y is for all ranged attacks and b is for all magic attacks.

3) Less spell choices and the combat spells seem to be all area effect centered on the hero.

4) You have a dog that learns tricks and searches for treasure and somewhat helps in combat. Sometimes when walking through town some of the towns people will kick the dog but don't retaliate or the townguard will be on you.

5) The map and zones are similar to the first fable but much larger. Enemies still respawn after you leave an area.

6) No more fishing, you just swim to the ripples in the water and dive for the treasure

7) You can swim and jump down from ledges but you still can't jump

8) Silver keys and demon doors are still in the game but there are also gargoyles and emotion statues (haven't encountered them yet)

That's all for now but as I play more I'll post more.

We'll see how long that lasts- there have been a lot of other "exclusive" titles that came out for other media after a year or two, sometimes with improved graphics or other features that were missing from the original.

Played it, finished it, loved it. It was rather short, but I almost exclusively concentrated on the main story.

Just one word of advice. The ending is beautiful. Really, really beautiful. Even moved me, and I'm a cold hearted bastard.

I've been ignoring the main plot until I can't avoid it. Instead I've searching for all the demon doors and gargoyles and becoming the owner of everything. Once you own the world the main plot doesn’t matter.

Sovereign Court

Yeah, I'm going to do the same eventually. It's more interesting. Just do the main story to see what it's like!

Liberty's Edge

i earn 6.5k every 5 minutes :P and the towns are mine mine! right now ihave 29 gargoyles and 23 or 25 silver keys :P

i am doing everything so i can get as much achievements as i can egt in my 1st run

I love the game

i have but 1 complain... sight... ITAS so difficult to play multiplayer...

same window so youhave towait for your companion to move, you stop looking in third person while shotting... which i love... i can take on adozen enemies and finishe them in seconds by choping all their heads with quick shots :D

and the humor! i love the humor!

I own alomst everything and I'm getting around 9k every 5 minutes and another 75k every 10 hours. I'm still trying to save up 1.1 million gp so I can buy the temple of shadows. You can jack up the rent and prices of your propertys to make more money but doing so is an evil act.

Liberty's Edge

i hate you!!

one question, when does the temple comes to sale, i know you can buy it, the temple of light, the mansion in the cementery and the castle... i just look around and haven't found how!

You have to defeat the main quest first and then you can only buy the temple you didn't destroy.

ohh cool, thanks

Silver Crusade

Still early in. For full disclosure, I have to mention that Fable 1 made me very, very angry, and not because it was overhyped. It's just...well there were a lot of things. And the fact that the credit sequence was around 5 hours long only made those things seem worse for me.

So far Fable 2 seems to be a great improvement. There are still some quirks, but the things that made me rage haven't turned up yet. I'm glad I took a chance on this one.

Grand Lodge

Some improvements, some backsliding.

For those counting, I beat the main quest and own the land, getting about 12.5k for rent, and that's with charging 100% less rent on a portion of properties.

Real estate is the way to go at the start. Constant cash flow, even when you're not playing? Combined with experience potions for sale? It's like the game doesn't care if you play it. Just check in and level up.

But once you've gotten up there, gold just starts piling up with nothing to do for it.

Combat is enjoyable to a point. Not being able to die takes away any threat in it. Plus you can just buy a Ghoul augment and never die as you heal yourself with every hit.

Biggest gripe? Having to buy the Block and Dodge abilities. Should have been there from the get go. We also lost the sheath/unsheath buttons. Pain in the ass.

Overall, fun game, great humor, not really the epic story I was hoping for.

Liberty's Edge

I think the only thing that annoys me about the game is the ending to the main quest. I felt like I did quite a lot for a very anti-climactic ending, frankly. Nicely done, but still not the epic ending I was hoping for, like in the first one.

Liberty's Edge

well i love the game
still haven't had time to finish it... just about to return with the hero of skill

but it has motivated me and one of myfriends to begin a shackbuckling campaingn...

when i receive Guide to Absalom i would be ready :D

I agree the ending was kinda lame.

Spoiler:
No epic battle, no hard won fight, all it took was one bullet and the main quest was over.

** spoiler omitted **

i haven't arrived there yet

but sounds pretty much reasonable
it was how it all began in the 1st place :)

Sovereign Court

I thought the Plot Ending was quite beautiful and highly original. It was an interesting and unique experience.

Spoiler:
Theresa is totally a Kriea wannabe though.

Liberty's Edge

i loved the ending

a friend who finished it with me says it was anti-climathic

he was asing for his catharsis, then i explained how it was logical... he sad he want his catharsis NOT realism :P

Spoiler:
i was criticeized for saving my family

but i did it mostly for the dog, the sacrifices be damned

Sovereign Court

Spoiler:
I did the Needs of the Many ending, which gave me a great statue, along with a really quite lovely letter from the 'Representatives of Albion'. The letter was kinda moving actually.

Liberty's Edge

I still got a deal of catharsis out of the ending. I totally screwed up every plan he had, after all. Just that I wanted something more epic, more OMG! than what I got. Doesn't diminish the game much, just a mark on what would have been a total improvement on the first game.

Scarab Sages

One bullet just doesn't get me all cathartic, I wanted more.

i agree

ripping aside every plan, frustrating him on every turn... a single bullet is just like an spit in the eye

Scarab Sages

Frustrating his every move isn't good enough.

Spoiler:
He Kills your sister, your wifives and children and most importanty he kills your dog.
I wanted to make the son of a b$#%h suffer.

good point

still you get almost all back
actually my worries were for the dog, not the rest of my 3 families :P
we stillthink we can find the sister around :S

Let me know if you succeed on the sister front. I've finished the game twice, choosing 2 of the 3 'endings'. Have to try the 3rd one. Kinda sucks that if you go 'evil' some doors close. Others open, but not as many. Still you can always adjust your alignment later.

I like that you can still knock around after the main quest is complete.

BTW, the temples are only 100k, the castle is 1 million.

Liberty's Edge

you see there
size does matter :P

that or albion's religion is understated

but aye... ia have been doing a few of the quest after the main game finished and i did now a villian...

a friend gave me some weapons, items, money and clothings...

she looked so sexy and innocent
then we play his game both playing evil... when i returned to my agme she looked taller, deffinitively not inncoent... all white like a corpse and beautiful red eyes :D

and the cute black dog :P

the change was so drastic it was almost choking

need to keep away of corruption... i don't liked the horns

Yeah, that's frustrating. Your appearance is a result of your actions. And your dog gets cool red eyes too.

Spoiler:
BTW, you can log into both of your characters at the same time, using 2 controllers, then shift your gold/EXP share to the new one. No item swap but it's a good way to get cash.

Cool, I'll add you my list also. On a side note what do you think of the new 3-d avatar? I think it's kinda 'gay'. It's like a very bad Wii ripoff, also my old theams don't work anymore.

No Xbox live for me, since I rarely get to kick my children off of it. Still, I'm BlueSgt Joe.

Hate the new avatars. Very Wii-like. Like the expanded features though, and my son is loving the free NetFlix trial.

Left4Dead is a blast. I play with my son, 'til he gets too mad at me for shooting everything that moves (including him). Zombies, especially fast super zombies, get me jumpy.) Finished 1 story on Normal. Time to up the ante.

Have to try Gears2. Looks cool.

Watch out for the green orbs. They tell all your dirty little secrets.

Sovereign Court

Adding you both. My tag is Uzzy102. Original, no?

well my old themes work decently, but its harder to see them all

i know its very much like wii... but PS3 was doing the same, just less cartonish...

i think its foolish... and my avatar looks fat :P

even then my normal avatar is still 'John Lloyd' from Vampire Rain, so not complains

its all for the casual gamers... that is why they chose a 'pretty look'
still the scenes shown when you have a game inside are cool :D (fable 2 backgrousn look great) i would prefer to chose i don't know a modified version of Master Chief or Ryu Hayabusa, John Lloyd, etc

Woot, got the Ruler of Albion achievement on my 2nd playthrough. I'm now King of Albion, ruling from Castle Fairfax (which is a beautiful place)

Now to try and get everything else. Along with having Lady Gray as my queen!
