Beamus can scribe four scrolls for you (Cure Light Wounds or Cure Moderate Wounds as you wish), but then you'll have to buy your potions at the Temple of the Sun. They, on the other hand, are well stocked.

The Wizard's Academy can provide you with many different scrolls and some wands, too. Are you looking for anything specific?

Upon seeing the ogre (and recognizing him), Roylenna will run forward to say hi. "We might have trouble with the ratmen, but we found a bunch of goblins and I think we will going there first. Do you like bashing goblins? Maybe you could come with us!"

The ogre scratches his head, then looks happy again. "Yah, I bash goblins." He will never fit into the passage from the coffin, though, so you need to find another way if you want to bring him.

I'm confused. To clarify, he has a CMW and CLW potion on hand, which I would like to buy. Then, I'd like to have him scribe four CLW scrolls. That should bring us to a total of 750 gp. The potions costing 450 gp and 300 gp for the scrolls (75 gp each). Is that gonna work?

I figure we give the potions to Rana and Ka'kara. Then Royl and I both carry two scrolls. I know that leaves Sandros relying on others, but it saves us 300 gp. Is the rest of the party agreeable to that as well?

That works fine, and he could scribe the scrolls at caster level 1 to save you some money, too.

That works even better! Then, we can get everything for 525 gp. Still waiting on the okay from some of the other members of the party.

This sounds reasonable, and I was going to suggest scrolls from a cost perspective, but would Roylenna be able to use divine CLW scrolls without resorting to UMD?

Black Tom:

Spoiler:
I'm needing to figure out how much, if anything, I can spend first. A partially-charged wand would be great, if such an animal existed, 'cause I know I can't afford a fully-charged one.

I'm thinking things along the line of Web, Sleep, etc. She's not a stone-cold killer, so things that hamper or disable are preferable to fireball, etc. She'll grow into those later. ;-)

In Giant to the ogre:
"Great! This could be fun! Oh, wait - they are on the next level and the stairs are small. Do you know another way to get to the next level?"

Female Human Barbarian 7

Ka'kara is ok with the split of treasure and items. Which potion do you give to her?

As the others attention is on the ogre Ka'kara slips off into the darkness.

BT:

Spoiler:
She pulls out her everburning torch when out of sight and follow the quickest path to the way down to the goblin area (she will sprint across the short distance in the mephit area to avoid it).

No such animal, I'm afraid. Please choose some scrolls before we go on. They have (or can produce) most low-level/common spells.

"There is another level?"

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Roylenna's eagerness fades for a moment, "Oh, you probably didn't need to look...," but is soon back in full force, "I know! We will look for another way in and come back and get you if we find one! How does that sound?"

Black Tom:

Spoiler:
While in town, what would an ogre-sized fur or something similar cost? And I'll work up a shopping list for the scrolls.

Actually, Ka'kara deserves the credit for that idea. I'm just the mouthpiece. As usual.

All:

Spoiler:
If you haven't been following the spoils discussion on the other thread, please check this out and let me know if it's cool. I believe Rana and Hella, in particular, haven't spoken up.

A link to the post is here.

Thanks.

Time warp back to Warwick:

Black Tom (and Hella, if she's coming shopping with Roylenna):

Spoiler:
Back at the Wizard's Academy:

Do they have bard's spells, too? I'd like to get an arcane Cure Light Wounds since I can't use the divine one, in case I've used my spells and Proteus goes down.

I'd like to get a scroll of Color Spray, Hypnotism, and Summon Monster 1. If the Cure Light Wounds is not available, I will get two Color Sprays.

That should come to a total of 100 gp, correct?

Spoiler:
No luck with the CLW, I'm afraid, but the other scrolls are avaible and will cost you 100 gp. If you want to buy furs for the ogre, it would cost you about four times a medium-sized winter outfit: 32 gp.

Spoiler:
Done, including the furs.

Time warp forward to the conversation with the ogre:

"Oh, and look what we got for you while we were in town! I thought you might like some new, warm furs for your cave!"

She would have had to press someone into service to haul this mass of fur back from Warwick, so I hope someone's willing to help, but someone (Ka'kara?) suggested it and it seemed like a good idea to keep him happy with us. This is, of course, assuming that the funds discussion is satisfactory to everyone and I haven't overspent what Roylenna's actually going to get.

"Hey, has anyone seen Ka'kara?"

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

"She's right,,," Proteus turns to where he last seen the barbarian ",,,there. Where'd she go?" Proteus asks quizzically.

Male Human Fighter 1 (Two Weapon Archetype)

Is it possible to make a spot check to see where Ka'kara headed to?

Sandros frowns into the darkness as well, trying to determine what happened to Ka'kara.

Perception, with vision bonus (1d20+3=4)

Even his elven eyes are overcome by the gloom, however.

Male Human Fighter 1 (Two Weapon Archetype)

Perception + 1d20=20

Looking around to see where the barbarian woman might have gone Rana thinks he spies something in the dark.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

You see Ka'kara rapidly disappearing into the dungeon, using the entrance with the stairs.

Meanwhile, the ogre is very happy with his new furs. He says that he's going to curl up and take a nap.

Male Human Fighter 1 (Two Weapon Archetype)

Pointing at the dungeon entrance,"There she goes." Rana quickly starts after Ka'kara. "What does that woman think she's up to."

I'll to my best to try to catch up to her but at the same time I'm going to be cautious about running into anything that feels like a trap

"Why am I always running after people going off to do insane things?" Sandros mutters to himself as he sprints after Ka'kara - or what he hopes is Ka'kara, anyway. It's still awfully dark...

Female Halfling Rogue 2

Looking over to Roylenna, the only person she can keep up with, "Shall we?"

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

Proteus follows after Sandros chanting "Luminas" as he goes and his holy symbol shines brightly to light the way.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

I doubt that Ka'kara can run at top speed carrying the portable ram, so you should be able to follow her (unless you are also encumbered). The girls will have to come after, though.

Rana, Sandros and Proteus need to make Perception checks in the ghoul's room to guess where she went. Or they could just choose a passage.

Perception check (1d20+3=22)

She went left. ;o) You can try again in Burg's room.

Ka'kara:

Spoiler:
Make a wisdom check vs 10 to remember a shortcut.

Wow, two 22s in a row.

Male Human Fighter 1 (Two Weapon Archetype)

Hope this is good enough

Perception+1d20=12

Sandros follows Proteus' apparent certainty, but has the presence of mind to tell him to "Light the wall to show which way we went!"

Hella wrote:

"Yes, I think we shall. I will keep an eye on our leaders - can you keep a watch out for surprises?"

Dancing Lights leading the way as usual, lighting the leaders' path as much as possible to aid the halflings in following.

"I'm pretty sure she's headed for the goblins. Do you remember the fastest way there? We might be able to save some time."

It certainly appears that I don't. Intelligence check 1d20+2=7

Female Halfling Rogue 2

BT: Would a knowledge(dungeoneering) apply to remembering/figuring out the fastest way back to the goblins? If so, Hella is at +7.

Hella wrote:

Yes it would. I'll roll for you.

Unfortunately Hella is confused by the dungeon design (3+7=10). On the other hand the ogre looks confounded. "Friends run from funny girl. Not nice." he ruminates, grabbing one halfling under each arm and running after the others.

That is, assuming you let him.

Female Halfling Rogue 2

With only the slightest amount of surprise in her voice, Hella looks to Roylenna and proclaims in Halfling:

Spoiler:
"Well isn't this an interesting way to travel? I hope our new friend here isn't too angry at the boys that just ran ahead. Perhaps you should assure him that they are chasing another friend, not running from us."

Black Tom wrote:

I'm quite convinced that I would be hard-pressed to stop him from anything he had his mind set on.

"Wha? Oh! Whee!"

In Halfling:

Spoiler:
"Haha! This is a great way to travel! Oh, good idea - I'll let him know!"

In Giant:

Spoiler:
"Don't be angry at them. They are worried about the crazy woman that ran in ahead. This is fun! Thanks for the lift! Just don't squeeze too hard - we're just widdle tiny girls!"

Does he seem to know where he's going? Or is he successfully keeping up with the boys?

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Suddenly the ogre appears behind you, carrying the two halflings and chuckling.

1d20-1=13 She remembers the shortcut, which is saying something for her

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Ka'kara:

Spoiler:
There is a long corridor from Burg's room to the lake. Unfortunately the opening of the corridor is 10 feet above ground. So you have some alternatives: Jump for a possible d6 non-lethal damage, climb (where you could probable use the portable ram as a pole). Jumping is of course the quicker method, so knowing Ka'kara, I guess I need an acrobatics check.

Proteus: She went right, straight towards the lake.

Male Human Fighter 1 (Two Weapon Archetype)

Rana keeps pace with Proteus, drawing his swords as they go deeper into the dungeon.

Female Human Barbarian 7
Black Tom wrote:

BT:

Spoiler:
Acrobatics:1d20+4=18

Yep, your right on the money with the jumping part.

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

"She went that way," Proteus says to the group. "It looks like you are right Royl, but why in the nine hells would she go after the goblins alone? This makes no sense, not to mention reduces the capacity to be able to plan. I'm half tempted..." He shakes his head without finishing the thought and proceeds down the corridor.

A little unsettled about having an ogre at his back, Sandros nevertheless follows Proteus toward the goblins' lair.

Male Human Fighter 1 (Two Weapon Archetype)

"She is reckless and will likely get us all killed," Rana follows Proteus down the passageway. "If she wants to get herself killed I say let her."

BT I can't remember, has Rana been down these tunnels before? If not he will do what he can to remember his out if needed.

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3
Bhanbhagta Rana wrote:

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

No, Rana hasn't been this way.

The passage ends abruptly at the lake, 10 feet above ground level. You could jump or climb down if you like, and make another Perception check to locate Ka'kara's receding footsteps.

The ogre is slightly uncomfortable in this constricted passage but he ambles along anyway.

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

Proteus will attempt to climb down.

Climb check (1d20+1=4)

A rock beneath Proteus foot slips and he is unable to hold on, falling to the ground. "Ouch!" he says as he lands awkwardly and thuds upon the cavern floor.

Perception check (1d20+3=8)

Proteus is unable to determine Ka'kara's direction.

Intelligence check - to remember the path. (1d20+2=22) Eww, natural 20, nice!

However, he thinks he remembers the path to the orc tombs where the secret passage to the goblin lair lies.

Male Human Fighter 1 (Two Weapon Archetype)

Climb: 1d20+3=13, Perception: 1d20+0=2

Having a slightly easier time getting down to the lake Rana stops to help Proteus up off the ground. "There you go shaman. Which way next? You seem to know where you're going."

"I seem to recall having had a rope at one point for this very purpose," Sandros comments to no one in particular. The lack of equipment does not seem to cause him many problems, however.

Climb check (1d20+6=26)

Once down, he casts about, hoping to spot more tracks and verify Proteus' recollection. Nothing appears to his eyes, however.

Perception (sight) check (1d20+3=4)
