Alright, time to roll on the events table?

FW:

Spoiler:
Initial rolls: 8 and 16. One good event, one bad.
Bad Event: Rolled 14: PC loses something important to them.
Good Event: Rolled a 17: Kidnapped by dryad or satyr.
If it’s too early to roll, that’s cool, let me know if you’d like me to reroll later.

Two good events rolled a 12 and a 17 Intimidate a class skill good for the command in the role play and hey I too was captured by a dryad. Yay I do nto smell like a pig and I keep my lone remaining eye!!

OK FYI my posting will be spotty Mon until Weds aft. This will be normal for most of the Fall.

Rolls 13 and 9 ( 1 good 1 bad)

BAD: 6 Mentor dies naturally
GOOD: 13 My glare is like death to others (GRR!)

Feel free everyone to roll on the events table. Then we can work out what the rolls mean on the discussion thread - to build into people's backgrounds.

Roleplay is important for Orick to finalise things with Hortin. The rest of you can discuss the matter of the gang fight with whoever you choose. I shall then ask for appropriate bluff/diplomacy checks to see how this effects the game in the longer term. Though to most people, other than parents, it will just seem like children being children and everyone gets a clip round the ear.

No one died and only the sneaky Darnis was hurt. You guys handled it well. But Jerrid isn't over with you guys.

Daetha - gets a class skill in heal 0 ranks for his layman roll.

A roll of 18 is pretty good.

Female Half-orc Wizard 0 (Evoker)

Whoo - looks like I missed a lot with that fight!

Event rolls:
First event: 5 (bad event); 10: The nightmares begin.

Second event: 14 (good event); 6: gain Perform (stories) as class skill

I think its a dryad grove with more than one dryad. Since Vladimir and Daetha both rolled that event, we should probably say that you were nabbed together (perhaps by the Tadpole Pond).

Your mentor probably had cyrhosis of the liver (or some other spelling).

In my mind Asfer is still a little girl but your intimidate shows you are growing up fast. What do you think?

M Human Paladin 0

Two bad (my rolling continues):

9) Lost in the woods for a week – eventually returned by a wood elf, warned to use common sense or torn apart by an owlbear next time.
20) Cruel children hide your clothes whiel swimming in Tadpole Pond. Made a laughing stock as you return home naked.

(Oh, look, I rolled high!)

Female Human Sorcerer 0

One good (16), one bad (6)

Good - 3) A mentor or family member tells many stories about magical spells; gain Spellcraft as a class skill, 0 ranks.

Bad - 16) PC falls down a sinkhole into darkness after heavy rains. Tired, cold and hungry the dark closes in until eventual rescue by a search party.

And Taya continues to not be best friends with that natural world. Spellcraft is a bit of bonanza though, given her possible path.

male Human (suel) 0 level

Rolls: 11, 20, 11, 17

Two good . . . OMG! What is it about Orick that says 'abduct me!'

Seriously. Looks like I stumble across my old dryad friend and yoinks me . . .

Just to be clear: 11 & 20 means two good things. The 'good things' are:

11) A dryad asks you to pass onto Orick Faust a gift of thanks, a cure minor wounds (gnarled stick) wand, 10 charges. (this can only be rolled once)

"I am Orick!" the little wanna be priest exclaims

"You are?" asks the sick, sick Dryad, "you're even more handsome than I remember."

"Wait . . . what?" Orick manages to sputter.

" Glomp!"

"Aaaaaaaaaghhh!"

17) A dryad or satyr grabs you and takes you away from the village for a month, gain +1 Cha and +1 Wis from this maturing experience.

Orick stumbles back to town several weeks later clutching his new wand.

French Wolf:

Spoiler:
Well, it looks like three of us (so far) have managed to roll the same good event (17), kidnapped by Dryads … if that stretches credibility / continuity for you, I’m happy to re-roll my good event, or let you do so.

Poor Feisam, the sauce will always get you in the end. I think of Asfer as a little girl, but as these characters progress in age I was anticipating you crafting her into Korgoth's love interest (either long-term or tragic) She's already shown her chops as a convincing hostage, and Superman always needs Lois Lane to rescue! ;)

As for intimidate, I think the roll works well with Korgoth. I'm sure as he grows older the village will still think of him as 'Korgoth's Grandson' and treat him as if he has dark powers. He also just gave a big bully and his minions a good whallop (with the assistance of his new friends) so kids in his peer group might well become wary of him.

O sweet mother of macrame I just ended up howling at 5am to the thought of poor Orick and the pedo Dryad.

Is he going to flinch every time he passes a tree from now on?

The avatar is more perfect for Orick "Dryad bait" Faust than words can convey. Your rolls are awesome. At this rate the poor kid will be joining Taya as a founder member of the Forest Abolition League.

Female Human Sorcerer 0

Looks like Taya got herself into trouble yet again falling into a sinkhole while looking for Nagy after he got lost in the woods. How do the Risper family ever have time to raise horses? They spend their entire lives wandering around the forest getting stuck under or in things. No wonder Ma Risper is worried about them.

The Exchange

Now for the horse trading.

All these rolls need to be incorporated into your events for the first two year training and in some cases they will add to stats, skills and background. That bit is up to you guys.

Meanwhile looking at the dice rolls and the way that the tax collectors have been supplanted by the dryads I could ask one or two of you to roll again, but I'm sure we can use the fact that three went missing for a month.

I see the dryads and faeries in general as being akin to Midsummer's Nights Dream. Lots of pranks, fun and games, with the various dryads vying for the attentions of the three boys. Orick is an old hand at this adn this sort of fits with Norebo - Orick=Puck? It could be a sort of otherworldly experience, (not to concentrate on the sex for one minute).
The dryads could also have an ulterior motive tied to the problems in the forest. Problems which the PC's know nothing of yet.

Here's what I suggest

For Daetha, Orick and Vladimir, it is a maturing experience as they spend time with the faeries. They will face a multitude of fun and games, charms and intrigues and have to deal with the ever changing emotions of the woodkin girls.
By the end of the month they will probably be more than happy to leave and find themselves different to all the other boys in the village.

I could write more but its up to you to say what you reckon. Add to it and run with it because it is moving the game in an interesting direction.

Also Taya cold have been part of a search party looking for the lads and got lost, Nagy too.

Cheers

Paladin's never have it easy. This is your rite of passage.

The wood elf is likely to Running Fox. He was probably out looking for Daetha and the others too.

I think its trying to fight without any real weapons or abilities that raises the bar.

Beth

Spoiler:

The nightmare thing seems to centre around a large female spider and her brood.

A question here...What do we do about the stuff we were actually training for? Do we see if we were successful or not, do we need to retrain it for the second season?

The Exchange

Events then stat increases then skills/spells/weapons training.

The events could have effected your training.

The stats come next to show that you have grown, then finally we find out how lucky or skillful everyone has been over the two years.

I should just like to get everyone's events done right and then we can move on. The dryad thing needs a little sorting to make sure everyone is ok with what happens to their character (and if they have any suggestions or ideas).

Cheers

As for Vlad and the Fey. COuld we say there was a Fey in the Barn watching us as the events happened and upon seeing Vlad muster up the divine spirit they took a keen intrest in the boy. Thus while Vlad was walking to/from the Risper horse ranch after a days work, The fey spirit approached and absconded with little Vladimir to a frolick in the Fey realms. Maybey this is where Vlad harnessed the ability to cast cure minor and refined his belief that he is a divine conduit.....

At least it wasn't a satyr asking him if he wanted a 'magic wand'

Its a good idea and definitely helps explain the healing ability.

Although the dryads are in the woods, it is linked to the Fey Realm also.

Daetha
[spoiler]Since you spoilered your suggestion to re-roll I wonder if you would prefer Daetha not to be "damaged goods". If that is the case we can have you re-roll that event. I am sure the others wouldn't notice or mind.[/spoilered]

Spoiler:
No, I didn’t mind the result (damaged goods via dryad sounds like a good thing!), it just doesn’t sit well with me that three of us got the same (very good) result. Doesn't seem fair to the others. Variety is the spice of life after all…

Yeah - the secret is never let your son interrupt you when you are trying to finish a mail. Should have checked it. Idiot father!

Apologies Mothman.

Over the next four days I am going to produce a list of rumours and other general happeninge that occur during the two years. One or two of them will impact the campaign area.

Once you have incorporated the events into your alias then everyone can roll the stat rolls for the end of training. That is three each. That is an additional 1d4+1 roll.

Finally everyone can roll a d20 for each ability that they wanted.

Any questions then ask.

By Sunday night we should have completed the first two year cycle.

Cheers

No worries man, I know how it is. No harm done, it wasn’t really super secret.

So, you’re not going to believe this … I just re-rolled my good event, and guess what? I got 17 again. Man, something really wants us to be molested by Dryads. So I re-roll again and I get 11 … which is Orick’s gift, it can only be rolled once (and already has, by Orick). Third re-roll and I finally get something that (I think) is unique, 10 – Mentor redoubles efforts.

But I don’t know now, maybe that 17 is telling me something, and I should join the dryad exodus … what do you think?

EDIT: also, my bad event, that I lose something important to me; do you want me to throw out some ideas for that, or is that DM territory?

M Human Paladin 0

Background updated. Rolls below.

Not sure whether Weapon Prof should have been dagger (as planned) or spear (as played).

STR, WIS, CHA (1d4 1=2, 1d4 1=3, 1d4 1=5)

Handle Animal, Detect Evil, Weapon prof (1d20=8, 1d20=15, 1d20=20)

Stick with the dryads, you know you want to.

I reckon it could be tied to the stuff in the woods, but I'll let you be creative on this one.

Go with the spear, the militia would have concentrated on your weapon of choice.

You have succeeded in Detect Evil (perhaps thanks again to the dryads in some small way) and also got the Simple Weapon. Good stuff. Since I already gave you Handle Animal for the sterling work with the hound, please choose a different skill that you didn't get. Then if you wish to try it again next time you'll get a +2 bonus to attempt it.

By the way everyone will be medium sized by the end of the first training two years.

From a mechanical point of view, the most important things are probably the kit he’s got stashed away (which will pretty much reset his cash from event 1 to zero, so I guess that’s relatively important), or his training (losing a mentor, for example, before his two year training is complete would really stuff him about).

From a character, rp point of view, the most important things are probably people; his mother, brothers, friends (including Finwe), mentors (Palfourd and Running Fox). And yes, the creatures in the wood could certainly have a hand in this, but, with the exception of the mentors (possibly) it doesn’t really give me a mechanical disadvantage.

Thinking...

Female Human Sorcerer 0

Updated profile, but please can you confirm you are happy with that interpretation.

Rolls

Stat rolls:
Str 1+1=2
Int 1+3=4
Cha 1+3=4

Skill stuff
Concentration - 15
Know (Arcana) - 18
Simple weapon prof (whip) - 10
Bluff - 20

Looks like the fever she picked up in the sinkhole slowed down the whip practice a bit.

training rolls.
Simple Weapon Proficiency=6; Concentration=12; 0-level Spell=13

Didn't include anything -- thought it was a raw d20 roll. Doubt it changes anything, though.

Vladimir's rolls with stat bounus then are 7, 13 and 14 respectively thanks FW!
I was oging to train a 1st level spell in my second training but I have already cast COmmand, hiw will we work this?

Afternoon, French

Well, as suggested I'm putting an initial post here to introduce myself, and start getting involved.

Of course, as part of that I've generated some statistics for character generation, so here we go:

As previously indicated, I'm human, aged 17 (bloody rare for me to roll 20!). My father's an animal farmer (7), and my mother's a simple, hardworking homemaker (13), so I've had a hard but fair life so far. I've worked on the farm since I was young, and I'm used to elements of physical labour. For my siblings, I have a young cousin who's a child prodigy - sorcerer (19) (smug git!).

My early experiences have been mixed. There was a lightning storm during my journey, and I got lost in the woods for days, giving me a dreadful phobia of owls (14 then 11), but whilst out playing in woods I befriended and trained a wild dog (presumably to kill owls!) (6 then 9).

I have no family history of note (unless you count my father's 'best in show' for his cow daisy!) (3), but my father was clearly very hardworking, because I've got 50 gold pieces (13). Presumably, I got decent pocket-money, which I've saved!

Personally, I've got a burning desire to become a paladin - to right wrongs, fight evil and rid the world of monsters (and, for some inexplicable reason, cabbage!)

If you're happy with the above, I'm happy to join in.

19 years old you are a GEEZER LOL and u have a beard wow you are mature. Pleasure to have you aboard my character is Vladimir. ANd hey at least you have both of your eyes and parents, ah I wish I had a family :) I know of a great dog you should take he is very well behaved, he is owned by halflings....

I'll lose the simple weapon proficiency since it was the worst roll if that's OK with you. Or I can re-roll the lot. Your choice and I will abide by it.

EDIT: In view of my last post on the game thread, I'll forgo the concentration roll and keep the simple weapon.

There is nothing wrong with sorcerers. Some of us are trying quite hard to become one. Smug git child prodigies however are fair game.

Old Movomm gives Vlad a +2 bonus, she is a good teacher. Domar does too but that makes no difference. As such you can choose another 0 level spell that you have in your arsenal. But you can only cast it once per day.

Master Leeth gives you no bonus what so ever.

You needed to know a 0th level spell before you could manage a 1st level one. Plus it covered one of your objectives which was good at the time.

I will allow you a bonus +2 for your next attempt to cast Command (either in adventuring or as part of your second stage training) so that you get something for your troubles.

Old Movomm proves a dour and dry stick, but she will persevere with you. When you return from being missing, She finally cracks and gives Vladimir a big hug. The training moves on a pace and one night she will let the boy in on a secret, she is in truth a haggard old priest of Hieroneous. Not aparticularly good one but one nevertheless. To aid your training and help fire that faith, she provides you with a silver symbol of a longsword.

Skill stuff:

1d20+1=6, 1d20=20, 1d20+1=9

Diplomacy (CHA): 20
Tumble (DEX): 6
Balance (DEX): 9

Is this correct FW? I am trying to get a feel to making Korgorh an old-skool Errol Flynn swashbuckler.
