Gashelle Smith |

Gashelle charges: she moves to D7 and attacks with her glaive.
She hits AC 28 for 14 points of damage (or AC 30 for 21 points of damage if it's chaotic).
"Ugn! It's like sinking your weapon into the side of an over-ripe gourd."

Holgur |

Holgur would have been about N8 when the fight started.
[i]Holgur gasps when the thing engulfs the young elf. He must fight his insting to chop at it, instead opting for a thrust so as not to endanger his comrade.[/ooc]

Layjiani |

Caught completely off-guard, Layjiani is once again grabbed by a slimy tentacle. She desperately tries to escape (1d20+7=11) it's grasp

Eltariel Elessand |

Hang on, I'm trying to get the tactical map right here. Gashelle can just move far enough to reach the tentacle holding Layjiani and attack it, and that's all she can reach (assuming she moves to G7). Holgur will have to double-move to reach anything at all, and leave his attack until next round (I am guessing he moves to C7 or thereabouts), and Aude is effectively holding position, correct?

Gashelle Smith |

Gahselle begins her move in M8. Each square is 5'. Moving to D7 (where she can attack the Otyugh in B7 with her glaive) is 45', which is more than her base move of 30', but well within reach of a charge.

DM Wellard |

Holgur could have charged as well and the creature has a 15' reach with its tentacles...the round as written stands..total damage delivered 46 points(ouchies)
The creatures wounds close before your eyes the corpusculent flesh knitting together slowly but surely. Layjiani feels the breath being squeezed from her lungs as the tentacle holding her contracts(6 damage)
The other tentacle targets Gashelle hitting hard(confirmed critical for 8 points)however it fails to gain a hold on the half elfs body

Avinar |

Gashelle Smith |

"An overripe gourd that reseals itself after taking damage!
"Eltariel, do you have any spells that might suggest to this big ball of putrescence that we mean business?"
Gashelle casts Blade of Blood (move action, taking 5 points damage) and Shocking Grasp (part of her standard action) and strikes again. She hits AC 24 (26 if it's chaotic) for 7 points of damage (14 if chaotic) plus 15 points from the blade of blood plus 7 points of lightning damage. (29 points under normal circumstances).

Eltariel Elessand |

Layjiani |

Barely able to gasp for breath as her lungs contract, Layjiani once again desperately tries to escape (1d20+7=15).
Damn it! IC hasn't been my friend lately, can't roll over a @%#% 10!

Aude COOPER |

Layjiani |

Completely healed Layjiani still stays on the floor for a few moments to enjoy the sensation of breathing freely once again. Then, putting out her hand to Aude for a help up, she looks the cleric in the eyes and thanks her sincerely. Her hardy adventurous spirit unharmed, the curious ranger moves over the the squishy mess and squats down to inspect it. As she pokes and prods it she can be heard to grumble "Tentacles. Why do it be always slimy tentacles.. This one no do be liking them much..."

Gashelle Smith |

"... on the other hand, it looks like it's no longer required," Eltariel relaxes and looks around. "Do you need healing, Gashelle? I know that spell takes a lot out of you."
Gashelle nods, still keeping an eye on the thing. "If there are no more pressing concerns, that would be good of you."

Eltariel Elessand |

"If there are no more pressing concerns, that would be good of you."
"Of course," Eltariel takes out one of her scrolls of Lesser Vigorand quickly casts it from the scroll.
[ooc]You gain Fast Healing 1 for the next 11 rounds. Wellard, what else is in here?[/i]

Layjiani |

Layjiani nods silently to her leader and backtracks to head down the indicated passage. Her new 'glow stone' lighting her way, as always when in a new area, she moves slowly and keeps a lookout for traps and secret doors or anything else of interest

Gashelle Smith |

I have never seen anything like that before, I hope its singular, something that ugly has to be...
Gashelle smiles and gives Avinar a thwap on his backside with the flat of her glaive as she follows Layjiani back to the south. She speaks quietly: "Call the monster ugly today; apologize to its mother tomorrow.
"We've run into an assassin vine and this 'hillock that walks like an otyugh, and heals like a troll'. I wouldn't be surprised if we ran into some more wrathful vegetables.
"If we do meet another one of these, could anybody venture a guess as to how we can keep it from regenerating?"

Avinar |

"Gash, careful were you poke that thing...you might make Eltariel jelous, I once heard acid and fire may cease a troll's regenration [occ]know Arcana[/ooc], what do you know childhood friend? motions to Eltariel. Bends down beside Eltariel
whispered in Elvish

Eltariel Elessand |

Eltariel continues to examine the corpse.
Whatever knowledge skill is appropriate!

DM Wellard |

As far as she can determine Eltariel is looking at a dead Otyugh.Theres no obvious indication of it being anything out of the ordinary for these eaters of carrion
Layjiani finds that the corridor stretches away into the darkness

Aude COOPER |

Aude goes near the remains of the otyugh
" Oh, Otyugh, be not angry ! Your death is upon your slight pause tentacles. you attacked us instead of speaking with us . Be comforted! This is but a stop in your eternal life . There is no shame in failing before superior numbers . Go fast from here to your next incarnation and be judged according to your life before rather than the way you died . We were nothing but instruments of your fate. "
With this , Aude turns to Elandriel . We should check the wounds of our companions . If I remember rightly , an otyugh is renowned as a bearer of diseases but this might be because they usually live in sewers .

Eltariel Elessand |

"Only Layjiani was injured, and you have healed her already. Gashelle took some injury from her spell, but not from the Otyugh, but we should always keep wise to the dangers of disease and infection regardless, you are correct. Come, we had best catch up with the others."

Layjiani |

Layjiani nods in appreciation for his support to Avinar as he catches up. Making a signal to return the way they came, she backtracks to the door and uses all her Senses to try and determine what may be beyond it
You can roll Wellard

DM Wellard |

IS that the door to the south..or the one back at the cellblock?. I'm going to assume its the former as the party will have back tracked for no reason otherwise
Layjiani hears nothing through the still stout wooden door and all she can smell for the moment is the otyughs noisome stench from the slime still liberaly smeared on her leathers.

Layjiani |

Yes, sorry for any confusion, Layjiani, at Eltariel's direction, had gone to explore the passage near where they came in and now is listening at the nearby door.
Looking down at her befouled leathers in disgust and frustration she tries to clear some of the slime off, and pours some water from her flask over the worst areas. She can be heard to grumble under her breath again "....damn slimy tentacles..."

Holgur |

Looking down at her befouled leathers in disgust and frustration she tries to clear some of the slime off, and pours some water from her flask over the worst areas. She can be heard to grumble under her breath again "....damn slimy tentacles..."
Holgur thinks to himself "What are we looking for here? Of course there is the chance of treasure but why must we always face hideous, unnatural things? Better for a man to know what he is confronted with than to have to make guesses over its corpse."

Aude COOPER |

"Aude, can you get that wand ready? I have a feeling that we may need it," I warn. "This way points toward the tower and that spirit may have some influence below ground."
In that case , we should explore other ways first. As we have seen, even protected by the spell , we will be affected .

DM Wellard |

I'm going to assume that the majority opinion is going to be in favour of opening the door.
This 30-by-30 room is littered with broken weapons and overturned weapon racks. It clearly used to be an armory. It has been disturbed fairly recently, as evidenced by the clawed tracks on the dusty floor.

Layjiani |

Layjiani squats down to try and identify the tracks; what kind of creatures, how many, when they were made and were they went.Survival (1d20+9=18)
