The movies are typically considered either parallel worlds or dramatizations within the main world. Do You Remember Love for instance is a movie made about Space War I (the first three quarters or so of the original series) in 2031. No word on where the Frontier movies fit in that scheme.
Macross II wasn't done by Nue and is a completely parallel world, although you could shoehorn it in as a science fiction movie made in the Macross world at any point.
