Question about Bloodcut Armor (Slight Spoilers to KOTSF)

4th Edition

So my group managed to defeat the Goblin Torturer and win themselves some Bloodcut Hide Armor.

Now the module states that it has a Daily power to gain Resist All 10 until the end of your next turn. It even goes so far as to state that if the Torturer uses that power, the armor will not regain that ability until after an extended rest.

The PH has a different build for Bloodcut Armor. Same benefit, but it is now a minor action that uses a Healing Surge. I am assuming this is the offical release of that armor?

On one hand it seems powerful (could have it for the entire combat if they have enough healing surges)

So I just wanted to clear some stuff up about it:

1. It takes a minor action to activate the armor. This seems straight forward.
2. You can replenish the power by spending a healing surge.
- You DON'T get the healing benefit of a healing surge when spent for this purpose
- The activation of a healing surge is a standard action? So you could rejuvenate the power as a standard action and activate it as a minor and not attack that round. Or spend and action point to geain an attack).
3. If someones power allows the use of a healing surge as a free action, the bearer of the armor could decide to use that to replenish the power of the armor instead of healing?
4. I assume that this power does not count as a 'Daily Power' when keeping track of how many times per day a PC can activate a magic item's daily power?

Thanks,

Larry

Yes to all your questions I would say. # 1, 2, and 4 are pretty easily explained in the PHB. #3 is the only unclear one, so I would probably say if the effect that lets you spend a healing surge specifically says just that, then it works to recharge the armor. Also remember you can only activate it when you are bloodied.

The reason the adventure is different than the PHB rules is because it was published before hand, and is trying to make up for the fact that the actual completed final edition of the rules isn't out yet.

I don't know about the other questions (no books on hand) but this one would depend specifically on what the power allows. Second Wind as Minor Action, no dice (so Dwarves couldn't do this). Some other wording could possibly allow it though.

Cheers! :)

I would go with the actual PH on this one, unless you dont want to. I dont think it'll matter much either way.
Activating it is a minor action, recharging it is a standard action that burns a healing surge from you (and you can do this outside of combat).
I would say that you could use the healing surge activated by someone else to power the armor instead.
You dont get the benefit of the healing surge at all: it powers the armor.
It doesnt say daily, so I dont think so, either.
