Liberty's Edge

The goblin besides Tamai tries to swipe out at him with its torch when he pulls his shortsword, obviously not viewing the gnome as enough of a threat to use the dogslicer in its hand. The swipe is wide, though close enough that the heat can be felt upon his skin.

The creatures swing leaves the goblin off balanced however, allowing Tamai to sink his blade easily into its gut, stabbing deeply. The goblin lets out a surprised gurgle and slumps forward down the bloodstained metal.

(Damia, you are up next. Then its the goblins)

Female Human Monk 1

With all the enemies dead that were around her, she looks around for where Jereth and Dannie had run off to. Finding the direction, she runs off to see if they need any help with things.

Liberty's Edge

The two goblins from down in the alley turn the corner and start to dash into the main festival square, one of them quickly approaching Damia, the other hopping up onto a table as if to gain some tactical advantage, though it quickly seems to forget what it was doing and bends down to grab some of the salmon off a plate and stuff it into its wide mouth.

The goblin leader manages to scramble down off his dog and stumble back five feet out of the reach of Jereth. Its clear that he shakey on his legs, but when he swipes out with his dogslicer the swing is true and he lands a solid blow across the paladin's side(8 damage) but his weapon seems almost too heavy for him at the moment and he does a half spin as he swings it, collapsing to the ground after, bleeding.

The goblindog seems infuriated in some way by the big creature in front of it, though it is still disorientated by the storm going off over its head. The dog snaps forward, scoring a very lucky hit to Alana's chest(8 damage) and bouncing back on its paws.

The other goblins look around as if ready to flee as their leader falls, but with the sounds of battle dying down in the rest of the city and calls of the watch ringing out down the alleyways, it is obvious that their only hope to flee is through north gate out of the festival grounds.

The goblins strike out with a ferocity born of desperation, fighting like cornered rats. One of them cutting across Alana with its blade(5 damage), while the other two step up to dannie and lash out at her, scoring two cruel strikes(5 damage, 3 damage). The creatures are almost frantic as they try and cut down the heroes to get past them.

(Jinn, we are back to you, then Jereth)

Male Human Fighter 1

Hearing the sounds of the watch and seeing the fear in the goblins demeanor Jinn takes two calming breaths and then begins to walk to where the biggest concentration of goblins is seeing the goblin engaged with Damia he lets fly an arrow in aid.

Point Blank Shot (1d20+5=9, 1d8+1=3)

Liberty's Edge

Jinn's arrow whizes past Damia and the goblin as they struggle, seeming to take no notice of the outside assaults. These two goblins, being already in the square and having a clear line to the exit, don't seem so concerned as the others were.

(Jereth, you are up. Then Dannie)

Male Human Paladin 1

Jereth grunts in pain as the wicked blade of the horsechopper carves into him, but he manages to keep his seat upon Alana’s back. When she herself is struck Jereth winces as the cry of pain that issues from her.

Alana’s eyes seem to turn red with passion and anger as she focuses her attention upon the hairless dog that dared to attack her. Her white legs, spattered with both the blood of her enemies and now her own, rear up and then slam down towards the monstrosity of man’s best friend even as her neck bends forward and she aims to tare off one of its’ ears with her powerful teeth.

Jereth himself fights to remain in the saddle. It sounds as if the fight is winding down elsewhere, but that doesn’t help him right now. With his own blood staining his tunic the young squire lifts the tip of his lance and plunges it over his left arm intending to skewer the goblin standing there. His eyes are filled with the light of battle, and a loud cry issues from his lips as he thrusts downwards.

Luck does not seem to be with Jereth this round as Alana's hooves bat somewhat feebly at the goblindog, who nimbly skips to the side. However he is able to jab his lance down forcefully, impaling the goblin at his side with a sickening crunch.

(Jereth, does Alana get a bite attack too?

Dannie, you are up next, followed by Tamai)

Aasimar

Dannie steps back and closes her eyes as she draws her hands around herself. Then after a quick pause she throws her arms out wide and expulses a burst of golden light that speeds healing for herself, Alana, and Jereth.

Common:

Dannie converts her other Cure light Wound spell into a burst of fastheal 1 for the next three rounds for all allies in 30 feet. So heal 1 now then 1 on the start of my next 2 turns.

(Damia, you are up. Then the goblins)

Female Human Monk 1

She lets out a little yelp of surprise as a goblin approaches her, stopping and jumping back away from any incoming blows. "Stupid creature!" She yells as she attacks it, "Get out of my way!"

Attack: 20, Damage: 5

Liberty's Edge

The goblin lets out a little squeek of surprise as it is slashed across the chest as if it was mostly expecting these humans to run off like all the others do rather then actually standing and putting up some sort of resistance.

The creature raises a hand to touch the blood now seeping from its chest and then just turns and bolts, running as fast as it can for the north gate near where Ameiko and Hannah are hiding(makes a full withdrawl to get away.)

The goblin standing on the table drops what is left of the salmon it was eating and shakes its fist towards Damia angrily shouting 'Stupid Longshank!' before chucking the spare dogslicer it had picked up off its fallen friend at her, causing it to hit the ground at her feet and the poorly made blade to shatter. The goblin then draws its other dogslicer as eyes towards her, as if trying to scare her off, which is hard to do when his foot is in a meat pie.

Down in the alley, hearing Dannie get hurt seems to embolden Aldern and he hurries from around behind the boxes to stand where the goblins leader had fallen, snatching up the horsechopper(go quick draw!), and making a swipe at the goblin that is attacking the elf. He manages a surprisingly lucky shot around the boxes, sinking the horsechopper into its neck and causing the goblin to collapse just as it goes to lunge for her.

The dog and goblin circling Jereth don't seem so dissuaded yet, the dog snapping up and trying to pull Jereth from the saddle, though he manages to step out of the way. The goblin takes the moment of distraction to slash across the side of Alana(2 damage), and though the wound is mostly superficial its clear that the variety of cuts all over her are weakening the animal.

Male Human Paladin 1

Feeling sick in his stomach with the knowledge of how much pain Alana in is Jereth doesn’t know what he can do except finish this battle as quickly as possible. It is the work of a moment to get himself back into position after the dog nearly dragged him from the saddle, and now he surveys the immediate battle trying to gauge what he should do. He thinks for a moment about moving so that the goblin is no longer right behind him, but fearing that it would then chose to go after Dannie or Aldem instead Jereth remains where he is.

Alana, with her eyes grown large in pain and anger, rears back once more to attack the insolent pup before her. How dare that creature try to take her human from her! Alana’s steel shod hooves rise up into the air once more and fall down towards the goblin dog attempting to cave the creature’s skull in. She even lunges her head forward trying to rip the things nose off. Jereth finds himself slightly off balanced by the sudden ferocity of Alana, and his own lance thrust towards the dog goes awry.

Stopping the goblin from retreating, Jinn moves forward and fires an arrow in a straight volley, striking the fleeing creature square in the center of its back and causing it to drop like a rock to the earth.

Alana raises up and manages to stomp solidly on the dog, crushing it with its second hoof, causing a weak yelp that dies off quickly. However, the lance swipe and Alana's bite both miss the remaining creature, who is looking intensely nervous now that the odds have turned so far against it.

(Damia, you are up, then Aldern and the Goblins)

Female Human Monk 1

She scoffs at the creature, wrinkling her nose in disgust. She nods a thanks to the small man, then runs once more to find Dannie and Jereth.

Liberty's Edge

The final goblin appears to realize that he is surrounded and that his enemies are closing in on him. He appears just ready to make a final wild stab at the horse when Aldern suddenly tumbles past it, nimbly squeezing by the goblins feeble thrust. He posistions himself across from Damia as he swings out with the horsechopper, landing a slashing blow across the goblin, but enough of one to cause it to collapse.

With a curled lip the man spits on the stinking creature before offering Dannie a small bow. "Mi'lady, are you well?" He glances up towards Jereth then and to those approaching down the alley. "All of you of course. Are you injured?"

In well less then a minute the town guard has arrived at this point and some of the citizens are starting to mobilize back into the square, running with buckets from the nearby creek to try and extinguish the flaming wagon.

Sheriff Hemlock himself, hand resting on the pommel of his still bloodstained sword looks to those who have apparently held their own in the square with a nod, gesturing to them to join him as he circles the square, though he gives each time to gather themselves in their own way and to sort their affairs.

Walking beside him is Father Zanthus, hurrying to anyone who seems the most injured to try and heal them. He does this task silently, seeming almost shell shocked from the horrors that came on this supposedly glorious day.

(He doesn't have too much in the way of healing, but between him now and his acolytes in a few moments you will be able to consider yourselves all fully healed. We're out of combat now, so feel free to shift back into RP pace)

Male Human Paladin 1

Jereth watches the last goblin fall and feels an immense relief come over him. Drooping somewhat in the saddle he reaches forward with his left hand and pats Alana’s neck even as she lowers her own head with exhaustion. “Well done Alana. Thank you.” The squire smiles as he pats her neck.

Recognizing the form of the town sheriff Jereth slowly turns Alana to follow the man, and then a bolt of fear jolts through him. “Shayliss!” he says without even realizing it. Which way did she go? Was she safe? Perhaps the goblins had wounded here! He had only just met her, but can’t help the fear clutching his chest at the thought of her needing help when no one is there.

Straightening up in his saddle he looks around him and then chooses a street leading in the general direction he thinks he saw her go earlier. Without even stopping for healing, and with blood still spattering Alana and himself, Jereth turns down this street and starts Alana cantering down the street as he looks around trying to gain a glimps of her dark hair. “Shayliss!” He cries as he reaches each intersection. Whenever he sees wounded people upon the streets he stops to speak to them. "Have you seen the girl named Shayliss? Is she well? Where did you see her last? The clerics are by the temple. Do you need help getting there?"

Aasimar

Dannie looks a little worse for the wear but still standing. Her blood stains her dress but finally stops flowing with the end of her heal spell.

If approached by the priest or acolyte she insists they tend to Alana and not her. Pointing to Alana and saying "Her, heal her."

Elven: "More of my blood was spilled than I hoped, I'm afraid I'll soon need to rest. I don't know where to go, I cannot stay in the woods this night I am too weak to fend off any stragglers." She lets the unasked question hang in the night air, giving it time to breathe before turning her attention to Alana.

In a more melodic voice than what she said in Even she intones an ancient verse long ago whispered when the Elves were but infants.

Sylvan: "The courage you showed rivals any steed, your spirit more noble than any golden mead. When you blaze in the night trampling your foes, know that my soul burns with you, know that my spirit with you goes."

Dannie gives Alana a hug and a kiss on the forehead before she trots off with Jereth to search for Shayliss.

Female Human Monk 1

Damia grins widely at Aldern, nodding an approval. Then she looks around for Ameiko. She had run quite a ways. She runs off to find her, sheathing her weapon as she goes. Reaching Ameiko, she is still grinning. "Did you see that? Did you see how many I defeated?!"

Aasimar

Dannie will walk the town and make sure no one is still hurt, I can use Stabilize (Druid Orison) at will (magical effect that makes a dying character instantly stabilize.) and also administer heal checks.

Liberty's Edge

As Jereth moves off to explore, the town is in odd shape, several sections of Sandpoint seem to have been hit solidly by the goblin attack, none more so then the festival grounds, while large portions of the small city went completely unscathed.

The trip around the city shows that while many are lightly wounded, there is only perhaps a handful of dead. The citizens of sandpoint are a tough people, having hardened themselves after the late unpleasantness to this sort of tragedy and though they had hoped never to live through such a thing again there is even a dark humor on the streets as people fish goblins out of wine barrels where they drown trying to get a drink, or shake their heads at the thought of re-tiling a roof when a goblin trying to sneak along it slipped and took a row of shingles with him before breaking his own neck in the fall. For how vicious the little creatures are, they seem to have been as skilled at eliminating themselves as the town guard was in doing it for them.

A bit of questioning about Shayliss mostly recieves blank stares, few know where anyone is in all the chaos of the afternoon, but eventually someone is able to point Jereth towards the Sandpoint General Store, mentioning they saw her flee that way when the attack started. The store's door is currently closed and locked, but a single knock will bring it open with the drunken older man from the festival standing just within, squinting at the person on his doorstep. "And what do you want?"

-------------------------------------------

One of the acolytes, giving Dannie a wide eyed look after her display of divine power out in the square, nods his head and quickly hurries to tend to Alana's wounds as best he can(with a single cure light wounds) before hurrying off to try and at least bandage others as they stagger into the square.

Help is greatly appreciated around town as there are a number of wounded, but there don't appear to be any who are simply unconscious. The goblins are not wise or skilled fighters, but they are cunning enough to know that if they bring down a foe they must keep them down, so nearly anyone who they were fortunate enough to drag into unconsciousness was swarmed upon by the others and finished off quickly.

---------------------------------------------

Ameiko shakes her head as Damia runs up to her, pulling the girl in close for a nice big hug. "You shouldn't go running off into danger like that and you know it, Damia. Your mom would have my neck if you got hurt out here when I was around to look after you."

Aldern walks along at Damia's side and ruffles the smaller girls hair lightly. "You did well, girl. Don't let the worrier here tell you different." He glances up towards where Belor is motions them to approach. "It looks like the Sheriff is going to want and accounting of what we saw in the square here. And I'm going to need to track down my servants and make sure they are ok. I had invited Jereth and Dannie on that hunt with me, but you may come too of course." He glances a moment towards wherever Jinn and Tamai have set themselves in the square, calling out "All of you are welcome to join me in the morning. Those goblins would have overwhelmed me if not for all of your help. I would wish to give a proper reward."

Male Human Paladin 1

Jereth finds himself feeling a little relieved that so little damage appears to have been done. Still, he bows his head when coming across the remains of those who have been killed. Offering a simple prayer for the souls of the dead he continues his search for the living.

Following the directions of a day laborer Jereth finds himself in front of the General Store. Tying the lance to the saddle horn so that it stands upright and hanging his shield from the saddle Jereth dismounts and approaches the door. Raising his fist he knocks upon the wooden portal and waits for an answer.

The sight of the drunken man from before surprises Jereth somewhat, but then it clicks in his mind that this is probably a relative or guardian. Offering the man a smile Jereth speaks, “Greetings, I’m Jereth Holtan, squire to Lady Dame Elane Keldonza, of Magnimar. Please forgive my rude appearance. I assure you, the goblins I faced came off far worse than my horse and I.” He gestures at the blood, both his own and goblin, which spatters his clothing as well as Alana behind him. “I am a stranger to Sandpoint and met a young woman named Shayliss who was kind enough to show me around the festival earlier. I am concerned about her and wish to make sure that she, and her family, are safe and unhurt. I was told that I would find her here. May I enter?”

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai walks over to the others who helped defend the town and asks if they are ok, thinking that Hosk would be disappointed about missing this fight, and wondering if Hosk's staff had come back to him as a message. He takes out his current piece of work, and starts to whittle a design to remind him of his questions later, when in the company of some who will listen to them and maybe know the answers. Then he looks up at the burning wagon of wood and walks over to the well to help organize a bucket brigade.

Liberty's Edge

The older man squints out at Jereth as he is spoken to, sputtering slightly. "My daughter?! You wish to come into my house to fraternize with my daughter? No, young man, I can assure you that she is alright. Much better then you'll be if you don't leave my little girl in peace!" This last statement is punctuated with a thick finger poking Jereth firmly in the chest.

Through the doorway, at the far end of the shop is a stairway leading to the upper floor. At the very top of it a familiar female's head peeks down, hearing the voices. Seeing Jereth there Shayliss flashes him a bright smile before disappearing upstairs again.

------------------------------------------------

The bucket brigade is immensely grateful for the extra assistance and within a few moments the fire is brought back down under control as the wood becomes soaked with water from the nearby creek. There is a strange odor coming from the smoldering remains though that is very different then what is expected of smoke.

Male Gnome Ranger 1

my director is standing about 15 feet behind me right now, so I can't roll.. I believe gnomish racial gets added to smell perception checks too
Tamai pulls his short sword and starts sorting through the burned wood, hoping that the smell is burned goblin and not a towns-person.

Male Human Paladin 1

Jereth doesn’t step back, even though the pain of the finger poking his wounded chest makes him wince, and instead meets the mans gaze with his own. Offering the man a smile he bows his head slightly. “Thank the gods that she is alright. Still, sir, I fear you misunderstand my intentions. I am no ruffian or callous youth. I came here to be sure that she is safe from the attack, and to offer my services. As repayment for the kindness shown me I give my word that while I am in Sandpoint you and your family may call upon me for aid, and it will be gladly given.”

He resists the urge to call out to Shayliss when she smiles at him, although it does warm his heart. He does turn his head slightly though so that his smile is directed towards her for an instant before turning back towards her father.

Liberty's Edge

With a few moments worth of sorting through the burnt logs, several of the larger ones are pushed aside and the source of the smell becomes clear through the cracks in the bottom of the wagon.

There appears to be a body trapped beneath, half-charred from the fire. The corpse was pierced through by a rusty and now blackened dagger that managed to stick in the wood behind it well enough that rather then coming loose it dragged the body along with when the wagon was moved. The fire and even the stabbing don't appear to be the cause of the death however, as even a casual inspection of the grisly sight makes it clear that from how the head dangles back unnaturally far the throat had been slashed. Its impossible to tell now, but the girl may have once been pretty, and if she was near the wagon when the attack started it seems likely she was the cause of the scream that punctuated the beginning of the assault.

The man frowns a bit at this, raising a large hand to scratch his chin in consideration. The alcohol is still clear on his breath, but it seems that he has somewhat calmed. "As I told you, young man, she is here and safe. The damn beasts would have had to kill me to get to either of my daughters."

He pauses then, rubbing at his chin again. "Shayliss is a bit shaken up from all the ruckus. I'll let her know she had someone calling after her, but you'll have to come back another time. Perhaps then we'll talk about these services of yours, and you may speak with my girl." His eyes narrow for a moment again and he adds "Supervised, like."

With that said he starts to close the door, though he quietly adds "If you protected her, you've got my thanks."

Male Human Paladin 1

Jereth bows his head slightly. "Your words do you much credit sir. As for myself, I only do what any man would in the face of evil. Thank you for the invitation." He turns slightly and mounts Alana. Holding his lance steady with his right hand he turns back towards the doorway.

"Should you seek to find me I plan on staying at the Rusty Dragon Inn. If that changes I shall let you know Mr...?"

Male Gnome Ranger 1

Tamai looks sideways at Jinn and sighs. Being small, he crawls down to see if he can identify the girl as the Young man's love before he notices the smell/body. perception:sight check (I'm going to look for another roller cause invis castle doesn't like me when I'm at work... keeps giving me errors )

He tries to prevent any larger people from climbing onto the wagon, for he doesn't want a log to roll over and damage the body any more than it is already..

If he does identify the body as that of Jinn's girl, he will first cover it with something before bringing it from the woodpile. If he is not able to do identify it, he will make sure the logs around the bottom are sturdy, and then quietly ask Jinn to carefully join him on top of the pile.

Male Human Fighter 1

With the goblins gone Jinn takes a deep breath to refocus his thoughts. He looks around at were he had left Lenna before the goblins had arrived not seeing her he joins the little gnome in the bucket brigade. Once the fires are down he turns his attention to finding Lenna once again while the little gnome begins going through a wagon.

Female Human Monk 1

She hugs Ameiko back, giggling slightly. "I am tough! All I got was a little scratch."

She then tries to duck away from the hair ruffling, narrowing her eyes slightly. Then the ruffles are quickly forgotten with the praises, and she flashes a grin, puffing her chest slightly. Her eyes widen at the invitation, and she nods eagerly, "I would love to go! Let me just go tell my mother."

Then she runs off to find her mother to inform her of what happened and to tell her about being invited on the hunt.

Liberty's Edge

The man pauses, looking out at Jereth. "Vinder. Ven Vinder. Should we need you, I'll send word." With that he simply closes the door, rather rudely as he didn't even bother to seek out the paladin's name himself.

Within a few seconds of the door being closed a giggle is heard from around the corner of the building and Shayliss peeks out from the alley with a coy smile. "You came looking for me, Jereth?" Then her eyes go wide as she sees his bloodied clothes. "Oh! You were hurt! Are you alright?" She rushes forward to check on him.

-------------------------------------------------------

(I don't think Tamai has seen Lenna to be able to identify her properly, she never came into Hannah's or the like)

It takes a bit of doing to be able to work the body free of the underside of the wagon, the dagger that pierced the girl sunk deep into the wood and had to be pried out. The girl was clearly caught by surprise by her attacker, showing no signs of having had the opportunity to fight back.

Her right hand is formed into a tight fist around something that gives a hint of metallic gleam between two slightly parted fingers. It seems that in her last moment she must have clenched down hard on the object as there is a trickle of now drying blood from where it had cut her palm.

(Jinn, Lenna wouldn't be where the wagon was previously, obviously and a quick asking around wouldn't show anyone who saw a sign of her. It sounds like you are remaining with the bucket brigade and since Tamai couldn't identify her certainly it sounds like he is going to call you forward.)

---------------------------------------------------------

As Damia bolts off through the slightly dazed crowd of onlookers, she makes her way across town to the house of the blue stones, hurrying into the building, only to find it empty. It takes only a few minutes of searching to find Sabyl on the street, questioning everyone she can find about Damia's whereabouts.

It is likely the first time the girl has seen her mother, normally a picture of peace and serenity so obviously emotionally flustered, and when the woman sees the girl she scoops her up in a tight hug. "Where did you get off to, Damia? Are you hurt? I lost you in all that happened..."

Female Human Monk 1

She hugs her mother tightly. "It's all right Mother." She chuckles for a moment, knowing that once she tells her mother that she fought with the goblins, she was going to throw a fit. "There are a few new people in town, and with their help we fought off all the goblins."

She steps back for a moment, pulling out her kama. She does a few swipes with it, trying to show off. "You should have seen me! I killed three of them!"

Male Human Paladin 1

Jereth is slightly affronted with the man’s lack of courtesy, but tries to shrug it off. What with the attack added to the amount the man seems to have been drinking he can’t be expected to be a complete fountain of civility. Shaking his head as he gently turns Alana towards the location, he thinks, of the temple square Jereth lets her pick her own pace.

Then he hears a familiar voice and turns his head to see Shayliss giggling in an alley. Swiftly dismounting he walks up to meet her even as she rushes forward with concern upon her face. “This?” He says gesturing to his own blood, “It is nothing. Forgive my appearance Shayliss. I was concerned for your safety and rode out to try and find you as soon as we fought off the goblins.” He smiles brightly despite the pain, “I am glad to see you unhurt.”

Male Human Fighter 1

Hearing the gnomes call Jinn turns around and makes his way up the pile of wood seeing the body of the woman he loves in such a state his expression takes on a look of utter bewilderment. Falling to his knees he exclaim. "No!" And takes the body of his dead lover in his arms as he begins to weep.

He's not going to be very responsive to anyone for a while he's just going to stay there weeping with her in his arms till some one comes to pry her away from him.

Aasimar

Dannie witnesses something wrong with Jinn while making rounds, and understands the symbolism of the clenched ring in the girls hand. A fear she dwelled on not moments before the Goblin attack moves her to tears as she approaches Jinn slowly and wraps arms around him. She makes no motions other than to lay her head near his shoulder and whisper to him privately:

Unless Jinn understands Sylvan he would get the impression of a sing-song children's verse, or perhaps a lullaby spoken in hushed and soothing tones.

Sylvan (Whispered): "Shoma men ho cet au-Mithoseyna n nai ante, eval Eniya ante tem sholiay utholil, ni inlitel hanaka."

(There is too much Sylvan to translate, and I wanted to get this post in now, but there are 3 more sentences spoken.)"

Rough Common Translation from Sylvan, for those that may hear and understand:

Spoiler:

Whispered to Jinn, intentionally trying to let only Jinn hear the words, but I assume theres a DC for Tamai to overhear.

"There are no words of comfort to be given, but I offer you my vengeance, my burning anger. When the ashes of pain subside stoke my promise back to life and we shall burn them from this world, through fire and flame we will immolate the unclean so that life can bloom again."

"When that task is done, when anger is sated and, love blooms again, your love will return. I will guide her back to you when we both are ready."

Liberty's Edge

Sabyl's eyes go a bit wide at Damia's words, shaking her head slightly. "You know better to be fighting! Especially with those little beasts that could be truly dangerous." She sighs, shaking her head again. "You are a strong girl, Damia. A good girl. And you have learned well from me as you have grown. But you've always had this fire in you." She quiets for a moment, lightly stroking Damia's hair as she hugs her again, still worried for the girl. "Your mother must have been quite a warrior."

Shayliss gingerly rests one of her hands on Jereth's upper arm, in a spot where he doesn't appear injured while she takes time to look over his other wounds, trying to determine if anything needs immediate attention, though she makes rather horrified faces at even the more minor ones.

"I am fine, Jereth. I was on my way back here when it happened. I saw one of them though! I came running down the alley and it set after me. Lucky I ran by Korvut's smithy and his dogs came tearing out barking their heads off at it. Though the goblin was going to die of fright. I used to always be scared of those dogs myself, but I suppose when this is all over, I'll have to stop by the butcher and pick them up a thank you."

She bites her lip lightly then, giving Jereth a sideways look with a light flush touching her cheeks. "I couldn't imagine standing and fighting them as you did. You are very brave. And... I can't believe the first thing you did was come look for me."

(Jinn and Dannie, I'll let Tamai make his post also since he's right there with you two. Then I think you three will be the first the sheriff actually catches up to even though he indicated he wanted to talk to you all.)

rolled low on perception

Tamai watches silently and waits. Years as a warden had seen many of his friends die... and he knew that grief is sometimes better with someone standing there able to support you if needed, but as a silent sentinel. This is why churches have so many statues, he thinks. Since, he is still on the wagon with the firewood, he looks absently for a charred, but not actively burned log, which he can carve a pocket-able size bust of the woman's face for Jinn to keep with him.

Jereth feels the warmth of her fingers upon his arm, and feels his throat go slightly dry. Still, her look of concern and the way she looks at him shyly is enough to make the young man feel ten feet tall. His expression becomes one of concern when she tells him about the goblin that chased her. But when she relates the fate of the little menace he manages to chuckle grimly. “I’ll bet it did indeed almost died of fright. Those must be some big dogs.”

His smile is very wide indeed when she praises his bravery, but he tries to keep his pride from showing. “The kindness you showed me touched my heart. It is very rare for me to encounter someone so willing to help a stranger and make him feel at home. I…I.” How can he explain something that he hadn’t really even thought about? “I was very concerned that someone as kind and fair as yourself…” Again, he is lost for words and blushes knowing that he must sound like a fool. Inhaling slightly he simply smiles. “I am very glad that you are safe.”

Liberty's Edge

Sheriff Belor approaches the trio with his normal grim look. He stops short of directly moving up to Jinn and Dannie when he sees the body at the fighter's feet, frowning a bit. He looks down to the gnome as he digs through the remaining wood and speaks quietly to him. "I would speak with you three and the others who I have heard fought to defend out city. Give him time to mourn, but if you would extend mine and the mayors invitation to meet at the garrison in the morning, I would be very grateful. I should find the others now."

-------------------------------------------------------------

Shayliss giggles at the compliments paid to her, flushing even more warmly and leaning a bit against Jereth's arm now. She turns her head for a moment back towards the shop when she hears some rummaging from the rooms within and then glances back to the paladin beside her. "I am going to have to go soon, my father would be mad if he knew I was out. But... Come see me again soon? And please, have Hannah or Father Vanthus look at those wounds. I would hate to have my big brave man hurt."

A playful grin is given at those words, and she leans up to press another little kiss to Jereth's cheek, though if he doesn't draw away from it she turns her head at the last moment to brush her lips across her own. This action seems to be enough to send her giggling and she turns and jogs back towards the alley to try and get away without being questioned of the little kiss.

She hugs her back tightly, burying her face in the crook between her neck and her shoulder. She knew how worried her mother is about things lately, especially since Sabyl's father had died. "You have no reason to worry for me Mother. Those goblins were wimps anyways," she says with a grin. She hugs her once more upon hearing the compliment, "I hope so. I have a pretty tough mother right here though."

She steps back for a moment, "Aldern Foxglove has come back to Sandpoint. He has asked me and a few others to accompany him on a hunting trip tomorrow."

Tamai stops and looks at the sheriff and puts a grim smile on his face "I'll stay with Hosk if you need me - I just met the boy, but I'll do my best to help him" He walks over to Jinn and the elf saying in Sylvan

The mayor and the sheriff would like to see us in the morning - all of us who helped stop the thieving lizards. Help me get the young man to a state where he can process and move on
