As night falls, the outdoor activities draw to a close. Villagers and visitors alike retire to taverns and inns to continue the celebrations around warm, glowing hearths where beer and conviviality flow freely. The inn has gotten busier even for the short time you have been here. Its standing room only, and it also has gotten harder to hear each other talk in you normal tones......

Peitor Sallievnya |

Peitor uses his active prestigitation spell to slide four cards out onto the table, one in front of each player. For himself, he deals the Brass Dwarf, for Desna, The Forge, for Artemis, The Wanderer, and for Erelle,The Paladin.
Peitor laughs a little. " Well dear lady, what connects us is quite simple. Our futures are connected by the ability to overcome a future danger,( he points to his card), strength through great diversity ( he points to Desna's card), the ability to find something of worth in what at first appears worthless (Artemis' card), and by standing strong in the face of adversity ( the card in front of Erelle). In short dear lady, we few, we happy few, are about to be heroes to someone. A bastion of strength for those without any... the rock in the middle of a rushing river of evil...or in plain common, adventurers about to go on an adventure.
Peitor, winks, smiles and orders another drink.

The night winds down to a close as you all get to know each other over many drinks. There is hardly any room in town to stay so you all just decide to crash in the common area of the inn like many others who have drunk far too much tonight. As you get up a lovely female dressed in simple farmers clothes starts to yell at an man who appears like he's had too much to drink and is making unwanted advances on the women. She slaps him in the face which brings on a drunken rage from the man who gets up and roughly pushes her down, which brings others to the women's defence. The once peaceful inn's bar has now turned into a full blown drunken battle field. There is no room for an easy exit. The drunken man who started the whole thing gets pushed back into your table knocking over your drinks and takes a swing at Artemis who was actually trying to help the man up. He misses by inches but is loading up for another swing. His two friends are moving his direction to help their friend...........

Roll for init and any attacks. There are three men you are facing, the drunk man and his two friends. The woman is on the other side of these men from where you are standing. Peitor, make a concentration check for you spell! The room is in chaos, drunken merchants, travellers and some locals are present.

Desna |
Desna tries to smile at the men. "There really is no need for violence, I'm sure this is all just a misunderstanding. Why dosen't everyone go home and sleep on this before you men do something you will regret?" She tries to lace her words with command and persuasion.
Diplomacy 18

Erelle Ravenstone |

As chaos breaks out in the bar all of a sudden, Erelle tries to back off from the drunken man at the table, but finds nowhere to go. Having been travelling, the offensive spells that she does have prepared are not ones she would want to use in a bar brawl unless she absolutely had to - they did use lethal force, afterall, intended for bandits and monsters..
Clutching her staff defensively, the wizard nods in agreement with Desna.
"Yes.. we've done nothing to you." The barn owl on her shoulder shuffles uneasily from foot to foot, unhappy to be in here. This time, Erelle's feelings match his.

Desna yells out at the men to try and get things under control but they are to drunk to listen to what she is saying, the drunken rage having taken control over them it seems. Both of the friends jump into the fray, one making an attack on Peiter with his bare knuckles but misses, his mind deciving him where Peiter actually is standing. At the same time the other man takes a swing at Erelle and connects, hitting her in the chin and knocking her back into her seat, the owl takes flight to get out of the way. Peiter waves his arms and mouths something in an harsh language, his spell goes off but the man who hit Erelle shakes his head and still seems intent on doing harm to your friends. The big male drunk takes a punch at Artemis swinging wide of the mark as Artemis just moves to the side a bit to avoid the blow.
The female who was at the start of this whole fight is now where to be seen at the moment, the chaos of the brawl making it hard to see anything but the person trying to hit you.......
End of 1st round, roll for next round actions

Artemis Grayson |

Sorry I missed the first round, call it stunned reflexes because the man pushed him back onto the table.
Artemis sees one of the men hit Erelle and his face takes on a hard edge. Having no mercy for a man who would hit a woman, he reaches over and plucks up his Quarterstaff, taking a swing at the man that attempted to hit him, but keeping his eye on the man who callously attacked Erelle.
Attack vs. Drunk #1. (1d20+5=11)
Damage. (1d6+1=3)
If this blow either drops him or frightens him off (which I doubt, but one can hope) Artemis will take a 5' step towards Erell's Attacker. If not he will just stay put to defend himself.

Peitor Sallievnya |

Peitor rolls 18 for initiative; he attempts to cast prestigitation to make his eyes glow (concentration 15) so he can bluff the attacker that he is a demonic creature ( bluff 13). He starts speaking nonsense in a harsh voice to add to the effect and clenching his hands in such a way to give the impression that claws are about to burst forth from his fingertips.

In his anger at seeing the thug hit Erelle, Artemis takes a swing at him with his quarterstaff, his anger gets in the way as his attack flys over the man's head. The man who Artemis attacked tries to take a punch at him but misses as he ducks under the quarterstaff that is flying over his head. The other man steps back out of the way of both attacks and almost trips over a chair behind him. He pushes the chair out of the way as he sees a demonic creature in front of him speaking in some harsh language he does not understand, he turns to run and runs into another combatant who pushes him to the ground. The drunk man sees Desna and takes a swing at her but misses. Erelle is just getting back up from her fall.
You can do nonlethal damage as far as I know with a quarterstaff!
Peitor, I only do one init roll for the whole combat, it saves time for pbp. Also could you please use invislble castle for all rolling, everyone else does so it makes it fair for all, thanks! Here is the link to that sites web page invisible castle

Erelle Ravenstone |

Apologies, fell a bit behind here. :( Did Erelle take any actual damage from that hit?
Somewhat shocked at being hit by someone she was trying to talk calmly to, Erelle takes a brief moment to recover before attempting to rise to her feet again. Fortunately, the wizard managed to keep a hold of her staff.

The room is slowly clearing out a little as some of the fights have moved out the door and into the street. Artemis's threat to the drunk man can be heard around the room and some of the fights even stop. The man trembles at this plus the demonic figure standing next to Artemis scares him to take his leave, running out the door with his friend as fast as they can. You see the women who started it all on their heels. The third man takes flight also, trying to head out the back way. You can now here the city guard breaking up fights in the street. Upon hearing the guard shouting the rest of the room stops fighting altogether.
Erelle took no damage, just got knocked down on her butt!

Erelle Ravenstone |

Erelle shakes her head, brushing off her clothes a little. "I'm fine. I didn't expect him to knock me over like that, but I'm not hurt. But thank you." She smiles at Artemis and the rest of the group, before looking up for her familiar. "Serne?" she calls to the barn owl above. "Come on, it's ok now." The wizard attempts to coax her familiar down from the ceiling of the tavern.

With the fight at its end, the guards come into the tavern and tell everyone it might be a good idea to go to bed. They seem to be making an order not a suggestion to all the inn folk. You can see everyone starting to make their way to the door to go home or up to their rooms in the inn. All the guards leave except one who keeps an eye on everyone still in the inn. The inn keeper and his helpers start the cleaning up process, cleaning up spilled drinks, broken glass, tables and chairs. The inn keeper notices your group while sweeping as you stand there. You better do as the guard says you don't want to end up in jail for the night folks. He moves on with his sweeping.....

Peitor Sallievnya |

Eyeing the women, Peitor says " Well, I am off to my wagon then. It is a warm and safe place my darlings if you care to join me. Ta. "

![]() |

The inn keeper looks up from his sweeping and addresses the group as Peitor heads out the door, alone, all his attemps with the ladies come to no avail, he says I have two rooms you can have, the ladies will have to share of course. It will be one gold each and you get breakfast in the morning, served until 10 bells. Your lucky, the fight left some rooms available, no payment no room. So do you want the rooms?

Artemis Grayson |

Artemis glances at the ladies before saying, "certainly my good man, that sounds like an excellent suggestion." Artemis takes 3gp from his belt pouch anf hands it to the inkeeper. Taking the keys from the man, he hands one to Erelle and escorts both of them to their room, before retiring to his for some well deserved sleep. Before going to bed for the night he offers a prayer to Desna for their luck tonight in avoiding any problems from the fight.

![]() |

The inn keeper takes the coins with a grunt. He sets aside his broom and gets the keys to both rooms handing them to Artemis. Second floor rooms 2c and 2d. Your have to go out the back there and take the outside steps up, watch your step its pretty dark out there. He grabs up his broom again grumbling about the mess and begins to sweep.

Erelle Ravenstone |

Erelle glances at Peitor, a little bemused by his offer. She shakes her head. "Thank you, but I'm not sure that would really be suitable.."
As Artemis discusses rooms with the innkeep, Erelle feels a soft whoosh of air as her familiar begins to silently descend from the ceiling. The owl lands on her shoulder and ruffles his wings, more than a little put out from the events of the evening.
"There. See? It's alright now," the wizard says to him, attempting to soothe him somewhat. She finds him a treat from one of her belt pouches and offers it to him as Artemis hands her the key.
"Oh, thank you. Here, I can give you some gold for that.." She offers him a couple of gold coins in exchange for the key.

The night goes by uneventful and you all get a good nights rest until early morning when you are waken up by shouts from outside the inn. You can hear a panic in their voices, they seem troubled, many voices talking all at once. There is a lot of commotion going on downstairs in the inn too....
Peitor, you wake up to the same disturbance while sleeping in your wagon. You peek outside and can see what must be the whole town congregated around the town Square.....

Artemis Grayson |

Artemis wakes up and says his morning prayers to Desna, then goes over to the window to see if he can see what the commotion is about. After that he heads over to the girl's room and knocks on the door, waiting for Erelle to answer so he can inform her of what is going on outside. As they make their was downstairs for some breakfast, they are struck by a similar commotion in the common room. He tries to head over to the bar to ask the innkepper what is going on.

Erelle Ravenstone |

As dawn breaks Erelle's sleep is disturbed by the commotion going on outside. Sitting up sleepily, she rubs at her eyes before padding over to the window and peeking outside. Just as she is doing so, there is a knock at the door.
Moving over to the door, she opens it to see Artemis there. The wizard will nod to him as he talks about the commotion, having heard it herself.
She will ask him for a few moments so that she and Desna can ready themselves, and then head downstairs with him once they are ready.

![]() |

Desna will no longer be with us and in her place is Firefly, a cleric/warlock. I think the easiest thing to do is pretend she was Desna all along! She stayed the night with Erelle and is woken up by all the commotions as every else is. Shenzoe might still play with us as another character as Desna was not fun to play.
I will be out of town attending Gen Con the rest of this week, my plane leaves in 6 hours WOOT! I am going to try my hardest to keep up with the game, I will have my laptop with me and the hotel is supposed to have free wi-fi so keep checking here.

Firefly |

How about I was present at the bar, including the fight and slept in an adjacent room that night near the current PCs?
I'm quite different from Desna in a lot of regards and wouldn't want to step on her toes. I can get to then interact with people my style while your away for a week to giving us something to talk about. I'd be happy to be heading downstairs after hearing all this commotion, being a light sleeper I'm sure I heard the start of it well.

Firefly |

Having been up for hours now, Firefly descends the stairs to check out what all the commotion is about. She tucks a small notebook into her empty arrow quiver that hangs on her hip.
Her hair cascades freely down her back and ends at her waist, fiery red hair with accents of blond and gold, catch the morning light it seems to vibrate like a wall of shimmering heat. She wrangles it into a ponytail and ties it back with golden ribbons.
The Elven girl wears, over a short sleeved cotton shirt, a gleaming suit of mithral armor, fashioned from what looks like tiny leaves that overlap each other. Wrapped around her left wrist is a black leather wristband, embedded in the bracer is a silver holy symbol. An image of the sun, with some strange language etched around it shaped like clouds. Besides her tight, form fitting black pants, and her thigh high leather boots she seems unarmed.
She walks with a confidence of someone not needing a weapon however, almost as she could talk - or fight, her way out of a situation.
Her eyes however reflect a very benign being, a warm shade of Amber, they sparkle in the morning light with energy and vibrancy.
Waving off any offers for breakfast she seems very interested in what interrupted her morning rituals.
She wanders over to get a better look from the doorway before venturing outside. Pulling out a stick of Cinnamon she playfully moves it back and forth inside her mouth with her tongue while she tries to sneak a peek at the commotion.
