Quinn also wakes up and tries to stretch a kink out of his shoulder. His crossbow wounds seem to have finally stopped bleeding though. He dons his gear and lifts his warhammer up onto his shoulder.
"Aye, I'm ready Gran. Perhaps we should be lettin' the goblin go now? He hasn't tried anything since we picked him up and didn't try to sneak out during the night. If we take him back to the entrance and let him go I believe he may actually stay away from this place."
With that, Quinn takes a discerning look at Splug.

Splug nods vigorously. "Oh, yes -- Splug stay far away. Splug thanks master Dwarf."
QUinn:

"That my friend is up to Splug, and yourself. I won't stop from letting him loose, but I pray that nothing bad comes from it"
To the party, "Very well, lets take him to the entrance."
To Splug, "Okay Splug, ye' get to go. Good luck with yer travels and I hope ye' fall in with a better crowd."
Assuming he makes it unmolested, Quinn will lead Splug back to the entrance and let him go with a day's worth of rations from his pack.
Then he'll head back to where the runes were located.

When Quinn and Splug get to the doors at the top of the steps from the "quiet" area, they find them stubbornly closed.

Gran Rey |

"Thinking about rituals that you don't know is of little use, is it not?" Gran gives a harsh, digusted look at the Eladrin. "Instead of running your mouth over thigs you don't have...Perhaps you should be trying to help your comrades"
"On three...", Gran puts his shoulder into the door.

"Perhaps you'd better tell us what you know about this Balgron," answers Dyrnwyna, slightly winded from her feeble push against the doors. "If he defeats us, he will surely not be as merciful to you as we have been."
"Balgron," he squeaks. "Balgron is chief goblin. Balgron makes deal with priest to come here. Balgron fat -- fat and mean. Balgron fight dirty. Dirty and sneaky. Master dwarf, Mistress eladrin, don't want to fight Balgron."

Quinn Quartzcutter |

Quinn inspects the wall around the door and the door itself and mutters to himself, "Well then...perhaps we could burn it down? Although without any chimney or some such we'd just as likely suffocate ourselves. Can't get at the hinges....don't have anythin' sturdy enough to pry...."
Quinn looks back at the rest of the party.
"Maybe we should just look for another way out? Perhaps we'll find somethin' to use as a batterin' ram."

Gran Rey |

"Burning would be the worst idea. We'd wind up not only alerting anyone near us, but would also choke ourselves out", Gran holds out his glaive.
"If getting through this door is so important leave to me. I'm sure this door wouldn't stand long against a few strikes. But the noise will probably bring out whoever's here aswell. Best to try to find another way." Gran turns his attention to the goblin.
"Unless of course you want out that desperatly, and don't mind drawing our, your enemies"

Quinn Quartzcutter |

Quinn hefts his warhammer characteristically and turns to the northern corridors.
"Very well, I'm with Gran. We look fer some other route and hope for the best. Lets deal with these runes."
From our last checks, do we know whether the runes are triggered by simply passing over them or whether contact is needed?

Quinn Quartzcutter |

Quinn looks over the runes for a bit and then snaps his fingers. Setting his pack down, he begins rummaging through everything, pulling out small candles, chalk, and some other odds and ends. He finishes by pulling out a heavy, leather bound book from the bottom of his pack.
"This may or may not work, but it's worth a shot."
He begins looking through the book and drawing runes and symbols on the ground....
Arcana DC20
Quinn closes the book as the components are consumed and then takes a tentative step up. His foot steps up onto something solid and he takes another step with his other foot. Quinn appears to float about 1 foot off the ground for a second before sinking back down.
"Well.....this one ain't very powerful but if we take our time and ferry our heavier equipment, we can still use it to try and cross the runes without settin' 'em off."
Quinn strips off his armor and pack and sets them on the invisible disk.

Dyrnwyna |

Dyrnwyna watches as Quinn attempts to ferry his stuff across the runic design. She waits from a prudent distance away from the runes, just in case.
There are no enemies around that we know of, right? Just this zone to get by, which will presumably cause goblins to magically appear as soon as one of us is on the other side, wounded from the inevitable explosion and sans armor? I'm not sure what there is for the rest of us to do except delay until the situation changes, e.g. enemies or explosions occur.
I don't suppose Dyrnwyna can assist in the ritual and get a higher weight limit on the disk so that Quinn can keep his gear on while crossing? Here's an arcana check if you'll allow it: 24. Unfortunately D doesn't know Floating Disk herself.

Dyrnwyna can assist, as long as she's within 5 squares and makes a 10+ on Arcana -- adds 2 to the check. So can anyone else.
I have not read Quinn as ferrying stuff just yet.

Quinn Quartzcutter |

I'll need one more +2 to increase the load of the disk. In the meantime, the disk will be around for 24 hours and I can control it so that we can get everyone across the runes. If there are more runes then we can get across those as well. Characters that weigh less can take the equipment with them on their trips so that we can get everything across. Quinn's estimated weight is probably around 310 lbs. or more right now with all his equipment. :)

Gran Rey |

How many squares is it to the other side of the trap?
"Good idea my friend, but I would rather do something that didn't leave me bare", he says looking at the dwarf.
How many squares is it to the other side of the trap? If not too far than...
Gran prepares his glaive and backs up to give himself room.
Atletics (Jump) Check 1d20+3=21. 21/5=4.2 squares

Quinn Quartzcutter |

"Hrmph...well....not all of us are so light on our feet," grumbles Quinn as he begins putting all his ritual components away.
He mutters to the others behind Gran's back, "Likely it's his head that do be light enough to lift him."
Quinn will start ferrying Frivry and anyone else who doesn't want to risk a jump. It should only take a few minutes.
On the other side, if it doesn't look like there are any other runes to worry about, Quinn will pull his chainmail back on over his head. If not, he will continue to ferry as necessary unless something else happens.

As soon as the airborne Gran crosses the threshold of the rune-marked area, it (the rune) emits a ghostly scream.
Splug screams and claps his hands over his ears.
Frivry, meanwhile, bolts from the runes toward the south at a dead run, coming into a room filled with the remains of humanoids that start lurching toward him. Pieces of rotting flesh hang from these shambling forms. Tears in their flesh reveal exposed bone.
Frivry:
Frivry was the only one to act in the surprise round. Initatives, please. If you go before 5, go ahead and act.
