4th - 12th! THAR SHE BLOWS! Good call! Let me get that up on the site.

Sweet. I'll listen up to the podcast, before I go asking a buncha more hairbrain questions.

It should be noted that the Indulgences will explore and expand that level range to probe lower (I always like to probe lower) and also to go higher (potentially much higher).

Nick! Looks awesomeness man! Congrats.

Minor problem - just tried to register on the the site, but keep getting errors on the page and can't type anything into the registration fields - anyone else having that problem?

Haven't heard of anyone having similar troubles yet. But I'll look into this (or rather have someone smarter than me help me look into it!). ;-)

Edit: For now though, not to worry, registering doesn't do much for ya until we get the Forums live in a couple of days...but sorry about that, I'll work out these kinks!

Liberty's Edge

Thanks Nic - it could be a problem at my end, I don't know, I'm a bit of a luddite...

Looks really good though man! Can't wait to start buying and reading!

It did the same thing to me too.

I figured you didn't want me freaking out your site, but Mothman's pretty relatively subdued.

So Master Nick...

I saw you were talking many versions. A version for PRPG??? That would be nice. I have purchased your fine products. After HMM how could I resist. I cringe to think what your work is going to be like without Doctor James pulling hard on the reigns...

EDIT: You had me at Sinister...

Nick- Great job! I love seeing capitalism at work. The site looks fresh and I eagerly anticipate the forums up to speed this week(?). What made the Razor Coast your first showcase? My Cthulu-lovin' players will be asking me to buy more of the insanity-in-a-can soon...

I have tons more questions, but will respectfully wait until more time goes by to see what utter maddness may yet be revealed!

Also, I cannot seem to register my vote in the recent poll, as a registered user. Help, please?

Well, i like what i see there Mister Logue. Have a lot of your product from the years by. going to pick up what i see here that catches my fancy.

most everything i think. heh.

This looks great!

Though I do say if this had turned out to be an April Fools joke I'd have removed you from the 'To be kidnapped' list Mister Logue! :)

I'm expecting Great things from Sinister Adventures, and I'm looking forward to reading more.

The Exchange

Alright Logue I am currently purchasing all the 'Indulgences' as a test..... and we all know how that's gonna turn out, so expect to see me buying much more in the near future.
Dammit.
FH

Wow, Great news just keep coming up. I was kinda sad other day when I wrapped up my near-only-Logue campaign, and was thinking how to get that fix... Well, here's the answer.

The Exchange

Nick, this looks amazing. I am sitting here simply squirming with excitement. (You have my permission to use that image in one of your dark fantasy adventures.)

I'm excited that Sinister Adventures is finally out in the open. And I have every confidence that the company will do well.

Two open calls on the first day! Very cool.

Anyway, as one of the hosts of Dark Whispers, the official podcast of Sinister Adventures, I hope you all will give us a listen - and your feedback.

Yay!

Nick, I'm so stoked I can't sit still!

Yeah, I knew Craig could sword fight like a demon, but I had NO idea just how cool he could make it in D&D. He's a maestro with sword and pen if you ask me...though I'm not sure which one is mightier in the Scribe's poet-swordsmaster's hands truth be told.

Bah! Who needs all of that poncing about with a crochet needle? Give me a good claymore any day!

Hey... am I the only one who gets a craving for barbecued ribs at the end of Rob Roy?

Seriously, good luck Nick! There are some really cool products proposed here. Are you going to be able to set up somewhere at GenCon? I know you're already going to have an overflowing plate with the Pathfinder Society, Iron DM, and (hopefully) Paizo Delve.

Liberty's Edge

Well, I just finished my morning read of the four Indulgence PDF's, and I preordered the big 130-page Dark Vista due in June (if this is any indication of the quality).

In fact, these are the types of articles I had hoped to see on the (in my eyes) utterly failed online Dragon fiasco currently up at WotC. In fact, I haven't read as good articles since Paizo ran Dragon!

I had ran a longtime Maritime D&D campaign and found out the 3.5 rules worked rather well to support the stories I wanted to tell there and this makes me want to fish it out and start it up again.

In short, very well done. *golf clap*

It's cool, really. A great listen. But Nick mentioned a free maritime character sheet on the site and blast it all if I can't find it. Any clues to this lost treasure matey?

I'm confused. Which are the modules and which are the setting supplements?

I've done the same, in spite of danger from the shipping&handling costs.

Will the print books be hardcover?

I echo the esteemed Shem's sentiments when I both cringe and revel at the depths you're going to plumb for everyone's enjoyment, Nick. ;P

Congratulations on the launch, sirrah - I can't wait to see all the nasty goodies you set loose!

The character sheet is a wee behind schedule, but should go live on the site in the next two days or so. Sorry about that everyone!

The character sheet is awesome, btw! Richard Clark (an awesome new artist and designer I am working with) did it up and I've only seen roughs so far, but the final is gonna be really cool!

roguerouge wrote:

Dark Vistas are the mega-modules! The Indulgences are supplemental material for those modules, but some of these are side-trekky smaller adventures.

For example, this month's Blood Waters is an adventure. Next month has two adventures actually. One called Shrine of Frenzy[i] by Brendan Victorson (who co-wrote Obsidian Eye with me all those years ago and has been doing some awesome work for 0one games on the Great City line).

The other one is called [i]Still Waters by Richard Pett. That's right. You don't have to wait until October to get your first dose of Sinister Pett.

I've seen the good chunks of both of these adventures already and they are CRRAAAAZZY!

Question 1 has already been asked. Will those large adventure be hardbound.

Question 2 would be, will it be possible to order stuff from you site in other countries (such as... oh... let's say... sweden)?

And I shall hope this buisness venture of yours is successfull. Congrats.

The Dark Vistas will be soft bound, but sleek looking.

You should be able to order stuff from us regardless of where you live, but I'll double check with my fulfillment guy (the man who will ship the books) just to make sure.

Nick,

First, let me add my congrats to the list. I'll now have to figure out how to fit this in my budget and find time to read all the great material.

I do have a few questions though:

1) How will the adventures work with all of the different gaming systems? Will there be separate versions of each product, one for 3.5, one for True20, etc? Or will the product have stats for all the systems in a single appendix and some of the page count therefore will be for systems any one person is not likely to use all of?

2) Once Pathfinder RPG is out, will that be a supported system as well? (I'm guessing yes, based on your new employer.)

3) Is the messageboard thread about your dark space OGL adventure going to be part of Sinister Adventures, or is that something different?

4) Most importantly, will left-handed customers receive a "sinster" discount, in honor of supporting your company name on a dialy basis?

The plan is to have separate whole versions, not just conversion notes. I plan to stick to that plan. :-)

When you buy one version, you will get PDFs of the others for free.

JoelF847 wrote:

This will depend on if the Pathfinder RPG is Open License or not. But if there is an Open License, then definitely, in fact I will make a Pathfinder RPG version my first priority for each project.

JoelF847 wrote:

The adventure mentioned in that thread (Cold Black) is indeed our first Dark Horizon release. Lots more info on that in that project in the coming weeks.

My daughter is left-handed, but she's only eight and doesn't have a credit card, so I can't really get her to buy stuff for me.

OK; registered, activated, logged on, read the previews.

Nick, in the previews I noticed several things with a Hawaiian/South Pacific flavour to them (both Sweet, and Sour): Pele, shark gods, etc. Is this deliberate? It is certainly an under-used mythological source.

Also, did you catch my GenCon question above?

Very much so! Hawaiian mythos is some of the most interesting I've ever encountered. The Razor Coast is sort of a mesh of Old Hawai'i, the Carribean, and Indonesian Mythos - though you'll soon see some Aztec flavor injected in there by the evil mind of Tim Hitchcock. I'm not personally ever interested in a one to one fantasy analogy. I like thinking about when things get mixed up a bit. Razor Coast is a melting pot of a lot of mythos, but yes, Hawai'i is definitely the dominant analogy. I wrote most of this piece while I was still living there.

Gencon Question!!! Let me look...

Ha! Got it!

Somewhere my stuff will be for sale at Gencon, but I probably won't have my own booth (since I'll be chillaxing with the Paizo dudes most of the time!). But yes! I'll do a deal to offer my stuff at the con somehow! If you are just looking for me though, that's easy, just hit the Pathfinder Society Hall! I'll be there ALL THE TIME! :-)

Oh, dem warwoofs ain't outta the picture yet. In fact...if the PCs decide to go that route, they can help those warwoofs out a lot, and maybe join em. I'm redesigning lycanthropy and vampirism in Ebon Shroud. Much much much cooler.

Nicolas Logue wrote:

May Talos strike you down, you SILVER-TONGUED HAWKER OF FINE WRITINGS! Between you and Paizo, those PEDDLERS OF GLOSSY PAGED GOODNESS, this Rogue may once again have to resort to picking pockets. I hope you are happy!

Spoiler:
The above should not be taken to mean that Last Rogue at any time actually quit picking pockets.
Spoiler:
The aforementioned text should not be used as incriminating evidence if one's coinpurse were to go missing.

Spoiler:
Um,Nick, sorry about that Talos thing . . .got a little heated. You might want to stay out of the rain though for a bit, because I did sacrifice a gnome to give that curse that extra oomph, you know. Again, heat of the moment.
Spoiler:
Sorry Mike! It was an evil gnome, I promise!

That's right Lords and Ladies of Paizo.

I've launched my own publishing studio, nothing gigantic, but we're scrappy, and we don't disappoint. Come check us out. We've got adventures and articles by Greg A. Vaughan, Wolfgang Baur, Craig Shackleton and myself for sale right now here:

Indulgences

Pick up an adventure by Greg Vaughan for $3. That's also not an April Fools' Joke...I'm just an April Fool!

Get an article on adventuring under the sea by Wolfgang, or one on the dueling arts in D&D by Rambling Scribe, both for a $1.50.

Come snag a Core Beliefs style article on an all new deity - an ancient Shark God of slaughter newly re-risen from the deeps, for $2.

Or read a little bit amount the DARK VISTAS, the main event yet to come.

Or just drop by and check out the Game Designer Blog

Or listen to our official podcast DARK WHISPERS

Let the madness begin!

Cool! I like your work, and that razor coast book looks pretty spiffy. I'll be watching this closely and probably snagging an indulgence or two.

Edit: Make that the first wave. I'll be buying the combo pack. Soon.

Sea based adventures are sexy!

Everyone wants to prance around in the desert. Never understood that, really.

I don't suppose there will be halfling pirates?

I sinned, and bought the First Wave! With my players, I have discussed playing the new adventure, at 7th level. We intend to use the new Pathfinder 1.1 Alpha rules, along a fast-track advancement. Our party is less than complete, but the players have committed to trying the new core classes, but eagerly anticipate a ranger or paladin very soon, too!

From what I have read, I love the quality, Nick. You should be proud of this showcase presentation. I'll very likely submit my creation for the contest, and look forward to the Character Sheet soon!

Thanks!
