what do I need to wake up? a perception check? I'll put one in just in case.
perception to wake up.. (1d20+10=27)
lets hope THAT rolling trend continues
Kelborn
Kelborn to Klyndak: "At least two kobolds on the way, wake up! Uh, lord Klyndak."
To Hru: "Yes, cut those kobolds down! I'll be with you in a moment."
Kelborn draws his bow and steps back and approaches the kobolds so that he can have a clear shot.
Is this a surprise round? If so, I move 5ft back and shoot. If it's not, however, I move 30ft. closer to get in range for sneak attack.
Attack & Damage (1d20+6=14, 1d8+3=4)
Sneak attack, maybe?

If you move towards them, you will be moving across a rope bridge. You would not be able to cross it at full speed without making an acrobatics check. Moving it safely will make it a full round of movement.

Hmm. I've had enough bridge incidents with this character already. I'm going to go for the safe route. No sneak attack, it is! 5ft step back and shot as above.

One of the kobolds falls forward and onto the rope bridge. The blade he was carrying falls between the ropes and drops hundreds of feet to the valley below.
The other kobold whimpers in fear but begins to slice the ropes that hold the bridge to the other side.
Note, there are 8 ropes, four holding each side of the bridge. He has sliced through one this turn.
Round 2:
Kelborn
Kobold
Hru
Klyndak

Ack is right! The Empire's sinister agents have jammed the SRD's transmissions to my work pc! I feared this day. @%$$#((^&!! web filter! They really know how to hit a guy where it hurts. "The days have gone down in west..." S'ok I have prepared for this day with a disc of the BETA...just no hyperlinks :(
Hru charges across the bridge at the little monstrosity
"Gorum is with me little fools, you should have kept running!!HOO HOOO!" he growls as he brings the love of the Iron Lord to bear!!
EDIT:Threat and extra damage if I crit (1d20+5=7, 2d6+3=12) NARP

Sorry 'bout that, busy couple of days!
Kelborn simply continues to fire arrows at the kobolds.
With that, the second kobold tumbles back and the bridge suffers only minimal damage ... you lucky bastards.
The site's been so screwy. It's like they want us to go cold turkey ... mmmmmmm ... colllldddd turkkkeeeyyy.
Tarren the Dungeon Master
Darn golem. Okay, we're back.
Hru makes it across as Kelborn's arrow takes the other kobold down. He hears enough noise to know that any remaining kobolds are retreating back into the spires. Damn things are like cockroaches. You lock things up tight but they still find a way to get in.
One of the ropes is cut and another only slightly damaged.
There is enough kobold skin to make a pair of boots, Hru, if that is the direction you want to go.

i'm no cobbler but unless one of the guys accompanying Rellios wanted to part with some boots for a fair price then I have to at least attempt it....I'm thinking of it from the Survival ck angle ie. they may look bad but do the job in a Barbarian sort of way..if so I'll set about curing the hides at daybreak EDIT: It's your play-by-post activities that are slowing the site down!! dude!! you must have 17 going now!! NICE!! ;)

" These miserable wretches ruined my boots an' I want 'em to know that their course of action has only one end result. Come to think of there ARE many better choices for makeshift boots...hmmmn" Hru trails off holding 2 fresh sheafs of kobold hide in one hand and the other scratching his chin as he stares at the darkened chasm, where, somewhere far below creatures hunt and prowl in the blackness.
I want a whole pimp suit of exotic monster hide

Spells Prepared (CL 4th)
2nd - Bull Strength, Scorching Ray, Flaming Sphere
1st – Magic Missile, Mage Armor, Feather Fall, Shield
0 - Light, Detect Magic, Mending, Prestidigitation
Come the morning, barring further incidents, I prepare my spells and then crossing carefully out across the rope bridge, crossbow loaded and ready, I mend the cut ropes.

"Um. Or you could just take these," Kelborn says as he removes his boots and gives them to the half-orc. He then reaches into his own pack for an extra pair of boots (of a clearly higher-quality make) and puts them on his own feet.
"Consider it a token of gratitude, and a way to start our partnership along on the right foot... so to speak."
So now Kelborn is wearing the boots from his Noble's Outfit.

Hru will be allowed a pimp suit of exotic monster hide only if he can find an avatar to go with it ... and I mean ostrich feathers and purple dragonskin sombrero.
Rellios departs early in the morning.
Crossing the bridge you find that the kobolds have lowered the portcullis and locked the doors again.
If you listen carefully, you can hear a *chink*chink*chink* sound from deep inside.
Kelborn
"Well, I could be climbin' all the way around the tower, but I would rather be 'avin' you lads wit' me. I suppose we should be expectin' the porticullis ta be trapped. Ideas?"
"Trapped, you say? I can find and take care of it if I have some relative calm around me. I suggest we get started as soon as we can, no?"
Does Hru take the boots?
Hru Gorumgrag
sorry sir, I was trying to see where we were headed before I posted any RP :0
Hru laughs, happy with the prospect of new footwear "I thank you. May Gorum smile upon your blade....Hoo Hooo!" Then with a sweeping gesture points across to where the Kobolds are holed up. "I am in your debt sir, I believe we should proceed to yon trapped door"
My spells:Orisons: Detect Magic,Stabilize, Resistance,Create water
1st Level: Bless, magic weaponx2
2nd level:Spritual Greatsword, Lesser Restoration
As usual...although I realized something the other day (when I was rolling up another half orc Beta style) I had overlooked, Cleric is no longer favored class for Half orcs...I guess I'm down a couple HP from that
Tarren the Dungeon Master
"Alright, this will take some time, but it's best to be safe rather than sorry." Kelborn begins to look for traps around the porticullis.
Take 20 on Search check, for a total of 30.
Kelborn detects no traps on this portcullis or the locked doors just beyond it. The winch to pull it up is on your side of the portcullis. The doors, however, have been locked from the other side.
Klyndak
"Argh, I wonder what those little vermin are gettin' at..., be checkin' that door real well when we get the porticullis up. Still thinkin' it would be better ta go around the spire. I suppose I could enlarge meself 'n carry the two o' you on a rope or something like it."
As the orc-blood lifts the porticullis, I pace nervously, expecting the door to be heavily trapped.
Tarren the Dungeon Master
Kelborn
Do you want to make an open locks check on the door?
Somehow I missed the doors...
Kelborn will take his time to make sure the door isn't trapped either, and then proceed to finangle the mechanism until the door unlocks.
Take 20 on both checks, 25 Perception, 30 Disable Device (to open the lock). Note that I made a mistake last time, I actually had a search of 25... Got confused with the new skills!
Hru Gorumgrag
Hru casts a nervous glance every now again at the drop off beyond the portcullis and figits anxiously as Kelborn works on the lock.
"Father Gorum may my blade find the way to the ruin of my enemies, and preserve thy name, and may the blades of my allies also find their marks."
Hru draws his sword and tests it quietly in the hall

Kelborn does not find any traps and succeeds in picking the lock ... eventually. Opening the door reveals an empty corridor.
This is the map from their previous explorations, Kelborn.
You continue to hear the *CHINK*CHINK*CHINK* sound from down the corridor. Klyndak recognizes this sound as the unmistakable -- to a dwarf's ears -- sound of metal pickaxe on stone. It is coming from around A3-4/B3-4.

Do we enter from the top or the bottom of the map?
"Job's done, gentlemen." With that, Kelborn gestures toward the entrance.
Kelborn
When the door opens, I peer in cautiously.
"Stealth or Force," I ask quietly, "Rushin' forward or movin' cautiously? Meself - I say we rush 'em. Only down the side corridor..."
"I'm not one for rushing, but I'll do my part, don't worry." With that, Kelborn slinks into the shadows as he enters the spire.
