Pathfinder: A Cool Concept

Alpha Playtest Feedback General Discussion

Newbie here... not to gaming or even writing for games, but to PF.

In fact, I just heard of it today and decided to come over and see what the fuss is about. I downloaded all the free PDFs in order to get a grip on the game.

I have a love/hate relationship with 3.5... I've always wanted to like it, but my experiences with it have been less than stellar. Perhaps PF will give me a new spin on things!

In any case, congratulations to Paizo for taking this step. I'll try to contribute a little something along the way.

I am also going to chime in here and state how much I am looking forward to seeing more info on Pathfinder as an rpg. Our GM has run a few of the adventure path games, and I have been really impressed with the quality of work you all at Paizo have put out! I have enjoyed 3.X, and while it needs some cleaning up and toning down (way too much splat material for instance, to me at least) it has remained a favorite since it came out.

My dissatisfaction with what I have seen for 4e has made me start looking away from DnD in general, but this announcement and what I have seen in this first alpha release has given me new hope for the game (and so far I really like what I am seeing).

Hopefully we will see the Alpha 2 and 3 releases somewhat soonish (I know that it is not something to rush however!), mostly because our group is pretty mixed, class wise, and I am sure will be quite interested in testing this out. Luckily we only have one "odd" class in the mix (one guy playing a Warlock), but I know the Bard and Sorcerer's players will be very interested to see what is proposed for their classes.

So definitely looking forward to seeing more of this and testing it out, and if things stay as interesting looking as they are now, you will have at least one other set of players buying Pathfinder next year when it finally releases!

Your translation module is stuck in the wrong language again.

You are telling me! I am going to be starting a new campaign in a few weeks and have told Jason that I really need to core classes to get going. <cracks the whip> Get designing Jason! :)

Sort of a tangent, I'd like to see 12 total core classes, three each for Adventurer, Arcane, Divine, and Warrior.

I'd also like to see Prestige Classes folded into core classes (as much as possible) by expanding class options and possibly adding in racial feats or other racial bonuses by character level.

Not sure where this comment is best placed, but your comment on fleshing out core classes reminded me of this! Thanks :)

You would't have any more of those complimentary cookies? I'm new, honest, oh ok I'm not new but I'm a sucker for cookies.

I think 3.5 Pathfinder is your cookie, my friend. ;)

I've seen your mention of homemade Oreos on other threads. Can those be had on a subscription basis? How do I add them to my cart?

Sure. Farm stuff out to a lawyer on the east coast in the DC suburbs. I have my own business to run and a ton of work, but working on Pai20 would be a lot of fun. I'll even discount my hourly rate, or better yet, let you compensate me with products.

Yes, there's the Cookie Subscription. You get pdf's of the cookies (i.e. recipe).
