Pop'N'Fresh |

If you could persay, put a section in the Wiki for conversions to other game systems, I would be more than happy to post my True20 Conversions for RotR and CotCT.
I believe I have covered all of the feats and gear in the Player's Guides, and am working through all the Bestiaries at the moment.
Planning to tackle NPC's next.

Brinebeast |

Brinebeast, that is pretty cool stuff that you have compiled so far. Care to add it to the Indexes on the wiki website?
I didn't really want to add it myself,(I'm Lazy and don't want to have to sign in) but feel free to add it to the wiki yourself.

I did not know about the template capability. It would be very helpful for consistency. Could you create one for the site or give me some examples?
Templates are pretty straightforward to create...we'll use a pretty basic format one for example.
1.) Go to a new page, titled "Template:Magic"
2.) Edit the page, and place the following text in the entry block:
''[[{{{1}}}|{{{2}}}]]''
3.) Save the page.
The triple curly braces are parameters to the template. To use:
1.) Edit a page.
2.) Type "{{Magic|Fireball|KABOOM}}"
3.) Save
4.) The resulting text will have italicization, will display "KABOOM" but link to the fireball page.
Voila! There's a bunch more you can do with it, but that's the basic stuffs.

Heaven's Agent |

A wiki template is basically a page design that can be copied and edited from page to page.
For example, in my edits of the FR wiki I used Template:Book quite often. Rather than edit and design each individual page every time I created it, I simply called up the template and it dropped a basic formated object into the page. At that point, all I had to do was edit the variables to match the article. The result was something along the lines of the information box on the right of the Old Empires article I wrote.
Each template needs to be designed and added to the wiki as a seperate page before it can be used. That said, I don't like the idea of stealing a template from another wiki without the author's permission (it is someone's original work, after all). And while I'm learning how to code them, I'm still a novice.
EDIT: Maybe Lilith could whip some up for us?

I'm using this one in my RPG-Group's Wiki. Copy the content to the edition section of a new file named Template:Whatever. This one is for PCs, but you can easily adapt it.

This template should be used in any article referred to a PC. All parameters will appear as "N/A" by default. Recommended image size is 250px wide.
Copy the following code text and include it at the beginning of your PCs articles. You can use wikilinks in the template.
==Usage==
<pre><nowiki>
{{Whatevernamehasthetemplate
|image=herethevalue
|caption=
|name=
|nicks=
|home=
|gender=
|race=
|age=
|classes=
}}
</nowiki></pre>
You can use two additional parameters in order to change the template box title colors. Fgcolor sets the text color and is set in white by default. Bgcolor sets the background color. Use hexadecimal values.
<pre><nowiki>
|fgcolor=#fff
|bgcolor=#000
</nowiki></pre>

Lots of good stuff getting added to the Wiki. We have the basics of most of the gods up and the first True20 conversion stats are going up as well. As soon as I get the official word back concerning the limits of what we can and cannot post, we're going to kick this project in high gear.
Don't forget to check back daily for new updates. And while you're there go ahead and sign up. The more contributors the merrier!

Just to give an update on the Wiki status:
1. I've updated all of the indexes with new info through Pathfinder 7 and Module J3.
2. The Pathfinder RPG has been added to the product list.
3. Several minor edits, mainly spelling/format errors.
The announcement of the Pathfinder RPG is a very momentous occasion, so it may yet be some time before I receive official work concerning the wiki from Paizo. As soon as I know more I will post it here.

I have updated the Pathfinder Wiki website with some basic posting guidelines and have been adding several new article stubs waiting to be filled out. Come check out and contribute to the wiki!

Hi there,
Do you have the permission to do all these "copying" of the
contents into your wiki.
After the Pathfinder RPG was released for download I asked
the people from Paizo for permission
http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/pathfinderR PG/general/aRequestForPermissionFromPaizo
but never got one answer.
You just went along and created a wiki where you put in stuff which is
in the magazines of Pathfinder.
I am just feeling something like "What the heck, if you don't have
to ask for permission why don't go and implement a game - Nethack style -with the rules of Pathfinder?"
That would be cool and fun but I don't really know if it is allowed!?
Anyway, have fun with your wiki
:-(

As Salama said, there has been no material from the magazines posted to the Wiki save for the index which is just an index. I have been in contact with Paizo concerning the website, and while I do await final word on content I have been told that the material on the blog and message boards is permissible so long as the source is cited.
Trust me, I do not want to include any material that Paizo does not want me to. However, due to the announcement of Pathfinder RPG and Lisa and Erik's busy schedules I have as of yet not received a final answer.
Thank you for your concern and for watching out for Paizo's interests sunmaster.

sunmaster - it also took 4-5 threads about wikis to come up before we got an official 'the R&D team doesn't have time, but a fan run one would be helpful, at least to organize where things are' We were asked that for now to concentrate more on indexes and such until firmer guidelines can be established. We have been asking the powers that be if its ok throughout the entire process.

Just a brief update on the PathfinderWiki. I've setup a message board to facilitate discussion related to the wiki. You can check it out HERE. I look forward to having a chance to further discuss the design and content of the wiki with you all.

I'm no legal expert or anything, but based on similar wikis for other campaign settings, you should be able to list details of the world, but not provide any game rules information. Listing feats and where they can be found should be fine, but to actually post the details of said feats is a definite no-no. Same applies for monsters, guilds, spells, magic items, etc., etc.
I think that having a wiki will only help build enthusiasm for Golarion and increase the level of support and easy access to basic setting information that we as the gaming community can provide as opposed to always having to ask one of the Paizo staff for answers on things that have been published or could be found with some searching. I'm all for the wiki and look forward to using it an contributing to it when I can.

This has generally been my experience as well, fluff over crunch. That said, I know I'm hesitant to add fluff content due to the fact that a number of Pathfinder books are being written system-neutral; unlike most published campaign setting books, the majority of these are filled with fluff, with the crunch being limited or even eliminated. If we were to add the fluff from these books, we might as well be posting a downloadable PDF. This is one of the reasons why we're waiting for official word before pushing forward.

![]() |

Heaven's Agent is right, the wiki will be focusing a bit more on fluff than on crunch. Eventually we will probably add a section for fan-created content and such to add in some original crunch.

;P
The list wasn't as much a question of using the art, but more in case someone wondered where the art originally appeared. :-)

I've been working on both - Heroes hasn't been updated since early Feb though. I have all the data in heroes and a great deal more saved on my laptop (as soon as i get it back from my girlfriend) I'm waiting for an official say on what we can put on before I edit too much either way, so right now I'm just making lists for it since that is what we told to start with for now since it is safe(copywrite-wise)

I have just received word from Mike McArtor that Wes Schneider has taken over the wiki initiative. I have just written him a letter for assistance with clarifying Paizo's stance on the wiki. I am hopeful that we will soon receive official word and can begin moving forward. This is an exciting project and I am eager to begin in earnest.

I have just received word from Mike McArtor that Wes Schneider has taken over the wiki initiative.
Does this mean that he will be overseeing and contributing to our wiki or will Paizo be making/hosting their own? Should I cease work on the existing wiki so as not to waste my efforts on something Wes will be doing or has already done?

I believe that just means that he is the 'go to person' for wiki questions and/or is writing up the details on what we can/can't post ( I hope)

I emailed his honorable M. Schneider, who said that anything (text and art) on the blog or boards is fair game to include on the wiki. He didn't specifically say that anything that wasn't on either isn't, so take that as you will. We're starting to get a lot of the basic formatting and templates in place as it is. The site is just asking for people to start to use it. With organized play and the gazetteer coming in the next few, it seems like the perfect time to create the resource that will help everyone involved. So please!!! Everyone pitch in. If we the fans and players really get behind this, a company as good as Paizo will support it.
We've decided on including background info only, nothing that will give away one of the adventures. So we can write an entry on flavor for Kargouz, but can't (or rather shouldn't out of respect for our fellow gamers) reveal that

The PathfinderWiki has undergone a major upgrade in both look and functionality over the last few days. It should be much easier for people to navigate now. And to add articles to! Check it out, and look back often as it will continue to develop.
