Hit points I think I'll leave as they are max at first and roll from then on. I don't think anyone needs a beefing up on the HP front.

Once ability scores are all sorted I think we'll be ready to add Grond & Thane as their backgrounds are done.

Grond is probably in town and wondering where one of the Longbottom halflings (Tobin) has run off to, meanwhile Thane is waiting for the return of Kells after their 'divide and conquer' notion of looking into the local mines. As they're both dwarves they've likely met in one of the local taverns and have gotten to know one another as there aren't many dwarves around (then of course the PCs return to town and the two dwarves will learn that their acquaintances are travelling together)

Elian I can add on mark's return, likely at the cairn itself once the party & other new memnbers have returned there, as he's tracking and watching Kessel he can be added whenever Mark is ready :)

Grishnak needs a backstory tweak and I'm still waiting on the potential cleric but don't want to delay (almost) finished characters from entering play!

So when and where do you want us to start posting.

Actually, Kells is human, but...

I am fine with him having a connection with Grond. He left town when he was a young adolecent and has come back under an assumed name (Kells HearthFlame). Grond cold easily recognize the now grown Kells and be helping to keep his secret.

Also, Grishnak and I have somewhat polar alignments (law vs chaos), but as I serve Bahamut, we have some very simmilar intrests (the protection of the innocent and down-trodden).

I think Kayos was linking Kells to the other dwarf Thane.

Grond has been working with the nearby Halfling community and the family has sent him off to find where Tobin has wondered off to.

You are exactly correct. Sorry, I grabbed the wrong dwarf's name.

Liberty's Edge

I am so sorry for not working on Grishnak's background. It's been a busy week.

Changed Con score (reduced by 2) and all connected stats. I'm back so Elian can turn up whenever it fits the plot.

What is the pathfinder dwarf racial bonuses, I'm not at home so i don't have any of the pathfinder stuff with me. So i know which one to subtract.

Is we good to go yet?

I think we're almost there.. I'll give Grishnak until the end of the day to put in some background bits and I'll do intros first thing in the morning either way. I can always weave Grishnak in later if he's still lacking background links :)

So we are waiting on an intro post to introduce us newbies to the story and then we are free to post?

Male Humanoid Orange Mage / Epic

I'm beginning to think I'm doing my calculations wrong! If I'm not, the new characters are all still out of whack in the point buy:-

Elian Oakspar: 36 points
Thane: 37 points
Grond Aarde: 38 points
Grishnak: 30 points

The last two are unchanged from before. (Grond Aarde would be 32 points without the Pathfinder +2 Wis modifier for dwarves.)

I'm not sure where your geting 38/32 points on a point buy. I just reversed my stats and come up with 25pts on the Pathfinder system.

CURRENT SCORE
S 14
D 16
C 13
I 11
W 18
CH 6

REMOVE RACIAL ADJUSTMENTS
S 14
D 16
C 11
I 11
W 16
CH 8

POINT COSTS
14 = 5PTS
16 = 10 PTS
11 = 1 PT
11 = 1 PT
16 = 10 PTS
8 = (-2 PTS)

5+10+1+1+1-2 = 25 TOTAL POINTS SPENT.

Doesn't Pathfider have 10 as the base score instead of 8?

Liberty's Edge

Here's my background. Sorry for the wait. Things have calmed down now IRL.

Grishnak is the offspring of a consensual orc and human relationship. His mother was the lone adult on a steading on the Savage Frontier; she had been widowed when her husband went missing on a trading trip. Grishnak's father was a lone wanderer who somehow befriended the woman and her family. Year after year he would return at the end of every summer with game and gifts. Some years he would winter with the family.

After a while the orc too went missing, but not before Grishnak was brought into the world. The boy inherited his father's wanderlust and decided when he grew up he would see every corner of Faerun. Of course, at the time he thought the world couldn't be much larger than the vale he grew up in!

Pathfinder does indeed start at 10, I can try some maths in a bit.

In the meantime the intro posts are there, sorry they took even longer than expected I've been a bit too worried to work on writing as my husband is quite ill.. it's really not a good year for us.

I'm a bit sick right now, and with a lot of work to be done, won't risk really falling ill. Bottom line: me -> bed, instead of sticking around for PbPs tonight.

Feel better Terra!

On a different topic... did we level up and I just forgot to do it? Kells and Tobin are still listed as 1st level, Kessel and Darie are 2nd.

That's where we differ! The plan was to use a 3.5E 32-point buy for generating the ability scores, add the 3.5E racial ability score modifiers, and then build the rest of the character using Pathfinder rules (as outlined here).

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

This is sort of confusing now. If we use 25 points from the pathfinder system Kessel is underpowered as he is only a 24 point buy and is missing the +2 racial adjustment (Kessel is a 20 point buy with racial adjustments though). We need to choose a character generation method and build all characters with that system.

Personally I'd prefer to use Pathfinder for building characters.

Scarab Sages

Male Human (by at least 25%)/Gargoyle Lovable Rogue 11th, Antiquarian 7th, Test Officer 6th

Yeah, since we in a 'cut-scene' right now, it's a good time do decided if you want us to retool into Pathfinder or what exactly you want. I honestly don't care about the mechanics, I'm not a number cruncher. I am fine with the Pathfinder scheme.

And, as I wanted to check before, are we 2nd level now? If so, I missed it and both Callum and I need to update.

It's not surprising that you can't remember Gavgoyle, we actually leveled quite a while ago:

Okay guys, here's the plan. After dealing with the beetles it'll be time for you to level (yay you guys!) I was also thinking that it may be worthwhile switching to PFRPG rules as that'd give you a little boost and more interesting character bits, but of course that one is totally up to you.

We appear to have lost our new recruits also, I've poked at their aliases and they appear to have dwindled away. I've been chatting to seekerofshadowlight about the game and he's interested in maybe getting involved if you'd like to try again for including someone else..

That was September of 08 :D

Hi guys, sorry I've been so quiet. I've been quite unwell and had a trip to the doctors and my husband has been really bad - he's injured his back and as such I'm helping him a lot and tend not to have the time to sit and work on a good post. Today is our wedding anniversary and we have a trip to the doctors planned to get the wound looked at whilst we await an appointment for him to have surgery. We are having dire luck this year!

I promise to get back to posting asap!

So sorry to hear that, get better both of you and most importantly, Happy Anniversary!

I hope everything improves as the year continues. Sending good vibes on your way (for what it's worth.)

BTW, can someone put together a short summary of what's happened in the game? We're still on the first adventure of the series, right?

Scarab Sages

Male Human (by at least 25%)/Gargoyle Lovable Rogue 11th, Antiquarian 7th, Test Officer 6th

Yes, we are still on the first one. So far Darie, Kessel, Tobin, and Kells (along with some friends who have drifted off) have gone off to explore the Whispering Cairn (although I don't recall if we actually know a proper name for it). This being Forgotten Realms, the Cairn is a tomb for a air gensai, not one of the Wind Dukes, and we have found several odd artifacts along the way. The monsters we have fought have been relatively mundane... the kind of things you would expect from 'squatters' constrictor snakes, bug swarms, mold... We have explored one branch pretty well, and started on a second. There is still lots to look at, I'm sure.

m human 1

Ok, thanks Gav!

Okay, I had this character already built for another PBP that fell apart so I retooled the background and made him for the realms. I have cut five points from the build to make him more in line with the characters in this thread. My mistake I though we were using the same 25 point build. Grond is now 20 pts.

I'm going to bow out. Sorry.
