I have never liked the plastic minis anyway. I'd rather buy quality metal minis and leave them unpainted than play with ugly plastic minis.

Sure, those automatic or semi-automatic paint jobs they pull in their factories in china can't be as good as quality work by professional painters or even gifted amateurs. But there was a time where those minis looked actually rather decent. Forget the first set, it had many awful parts (stuff where half the helmed was skin-coloured), but after that, things got steadily better. By the time we got Underdark, there were very few (or even no) really ugly pieces any more, even the commons looked usable, and the rares were actually really good at times.

But after that, things got worse again. It may be coincidence that that change happened at the same time as the guy in charge was replaced, but I since the drop in quality was so sudden that I can't believe that.

Yeah, I agree with that. Underdark was the best set in my opinion, and that was Rob's last set. The quality has been going up steadily up until then. But afterwards, things went downhill, and fast.

As far as I remember, every set after UD had its scandal...

Y'know, yer my kinda worm!

Y'seem to trawl the 'boards lookin' fer any opportunity t'smash Wizards of the Coast.

Did they decline to employ you, or somethin'?
Turn down too many crappy adventure proposals?

Not sure why y'seem t'hate 'em sooooo much, but I like it! Spread that hate, buddy! Yum!

There's no smashing involved. It's all absolutely true. Not even opinion. You can go and look it up. And last time I checked, I was still allowed to post facts. If they happen to show that someone's been doing a bad job, then that's what it is. Don't kill the messenger and all that.

By the way, how much does wotc pay you to go to boards and insult people for them?

And the last time I checked, people who included the phrase 'the last time I checked' in their posts were aware that ... I lost my train of thought there. ;)

I looked over the photos and I see several that I like. The Elf Warlock and the Emerald Orb Wizard will certainly be pressed into use in my game.
I also like the large (instead of huge) Bullette, the Fen Hydra, most of the translucent minis and a couple of the others. After looking at the 'harem shot' images in the blog, I think that I will be soon be needing a Rakshasa Baron, and I do like this one better than the old.

I don't care for the Vampire Spawn, the Champion of Baphomet (how many varieties of minotaur do we need?), the Halfling Paladin, or the Troglodyte Bonecrusher.

I really dislike the Magma Brute, Elf Archer, Skeletal Tomb Guardian, Bralani, and especially the Grick. The old one is so good and this one is so bad.

What are you implying??? That I'm aware that you lost your train of thought? Do you say I stole it? Why should I do with a train? I don't like them, they run on tracks. I'm too spontaneous for that. Also I don't like railroading.

Just so we understand each other. Unless you can prove that I have your train, don't insinuate anything or my lawyers will eat you alive. They're ninja cannibals. They'll eat you and you won't even know it!

I know some of the pics are little, but they still look awful.

Oh, they look worse close up:

Large Pics of Starter Minis

I like the Oni, Magma Brute, Howling Hag, & the Immolith. But most of the rest are a giant step backwards. Going to be interesting to see the spin.
