Hey guys,
Sorry about the delays, but I'm going to need a few more days before I can get back to the game. I'll try to get a new post up by the end of the week - please be patient. And now that you're back, Steve, don't go anywhere! :)
Congrats, again, Rob. It looks like "The Final Wish" is about to come hit stores. Could you share with us what else are you working on publishing? I remember seeing your name mentioned as contributing monster(s) for the second adventure - so what was yours?
Thanks, Billzabub.
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to seeing "The Final Wish" in it's final form. For "House of the Beast", I did the Buraq, from Islamic mythology.I'm not sure if I can talk about some of what I'm working on now, but I can tell you there will be some of my stuff in the upcoming Pathfinder RPG Bestiary and Cities of Golarion, and I'm writing Pathfinder Society scenario #35, Voice in the Void. Got some other things in the pipeline as well, but it's still early for those!

Another high level one #35, in the Kingmaker series if my maths is okay. Its good to see you getting on Rob.
There's more to the Superstar competition than winning, I'd guess, because you and Jason seem to be the ones getting the most work out of it.
Oh and Neil I have no issues with Liet at all, you play a great LN cleric. But I've never been one to explain away my roleplaying unless it becomes really necessary. Just let the posts to the talking.
Someone just lent me the complete back issues of Dungeon, I have lots of them but I sifted through from issue 1 onwards looking for gems. I found lots.
But it made me think that Paizo should be doing more smaller adventures. The APs and single adventures represent a great deal of effort compared to what I was reading in old Dungeons. Some of the creativity was astounding.
Cheers

I think he meant the Pathfinder Society stuff, not the Kingmaker AP. But Rob's definitely getting along just fine, regardless, I think. :-)

There is indeed! It's far more important to be consistently polished and professional and I think both Rob and Jason bring that to the table more than most. I'm going to do what I can to follow in their footsteps, if I can.

Will do. When something like that comes up in play, though, I usually offer up one explanation of how I'm approaching things, just in case someone takes offense...or doesn't understand what I'm trying to do with the character. After that, the stage is pretty much set and I think people know me better as a gamer. In other words, I just wanted to be extra sure by being up front.

The 32-page modules are about twice the size of the 10,000-word adventures Paizo preferred when doing Dungeon magazine. But the PFS scenarios are much shorter and more in line with what the magazine used to publish. I don't know that they're quite up to the same quality as what Dungeon used to publish yet. But I'm sure Josh would be elated if he could reach that same plateau.
Maybe another avenue could be something like the fan-produced Wayfinder from PaizoCon? If they'd be willing to spare 5,000-10,000 words for an adventure in the next issue (which won't be coming out for awhile), that might be interesting. Of course, it would have to be a free product under the Community Use policy.
Or, if Paizo realizes they could do a PDF-only version of a Dungeon magazine, maybe they could do something similar. But I think the work effort for PDF vs. print is still about the same. And they might not have the manpower to pull that operation off with all the other balls their juggling right now. On the other hand, a PDF-only product might not be as costly to produce since they could eliminate the printing and shipping costs. But who knows?

P.S. Rob? Is there an email address where I can reach you? I'd like to bounce an idea off you that I was discussing with Jason yesterday.

Guys,
My apologies again that I haven't updated the game thread like I said I would. I've just been WAY too busy with wedding planning and trying to get a few projects out the door.
But rest assured, I am NOT going to drop the game. Things should slow down (slightly) by this coming weekend or the beginning of next week (if for no other reason than my fiancee is going back home for a few days!), so I will definitely pick the game up soon.
Thanks for your patience, and I hope you'll hang around to get started again! :)

No worries Rob. What I did when my wife and I were wedding planning, was to just give in with whatever she wanted. No stress and no fights are the result, and usually a very good wedding too. It came out just the way I wanted it. Women tend to know what you want and take that into account anyway :-)
So when is the big day?

It was before Paizo took over, but one of my all-time favorites was Deadly Treasure (issue 41). My second Planescape campaign went on that little sidetrek. I had a table of 6 players screaming "Quick! Everybody into the well!", and another table of 5 players (pretty big game) yelling "Holy! Everybody out of the well!"

The game is back on - thanks for being patient, guys.
Thanks for the congratulations as well - the big date is September 5, less than a month away! (Which also means the game will again be on hold for a few days, but not long, I promise!)
As for my projects, I was indeed talking about the short Pathfinder Society scenarios - I just turned in the manuscript for #35. And now that they have officially announced the authors, I've also just finished up a lot of work for Classic Horrors Revisited.
But that's enough pimping of my work! Don't forget Neil's got Fellnight Queen coming out at the beginning of the year, and Larcifer is working on another Pathfinder Society scenario as well, I believe.

Hey, guys! A little pre-emptive warning...as I may have to slow down my posting over the next 3 months or so. There's a new writing assignment that may keep me tied down a bit.
I still expect to post every so often...just not as verbose or frequently, probably. I like to use PbP gaming as a "warm up" exercise before going into a full writing zone anyway. So I should still be able to keep up.

Neil Spicer Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut |

...using pbp writing as a warm-up is a great idea! I may have to try that!
It's a technique I believe Rich Redman (formerly of Wizards) shared about how he writes. He would assign himself a goal...like 2,000 words or something...for that day. And, when the subject matter of that particular writing assignment wasn't all that gripping, he would turn to messageboard posts as a warm-up exercise as long as they involved a topic he found more interesting at that moment.
The trick, of course, is setting a limit on exactly how much of that "warm up" writing you allow yourself. Otherwise, it quickly turns into procrastination. Or so I'm told... ;-)

The game is going om hold on again, guys, sorry. :(
It's T-minus four days to the wedding, the family is already here, and there's a whole bgunch of little details to work out.
So give me to the end of next week to get a new post up, and we'll go from there (before going on hold again while I'm on my honeymoon).

Kobold Catgirl |

Thanks for the good wishes, guys. As for the honeymoon, we're actually not going until the end of September, so there's a few weeks between the wedding and the honeymoon when we can do some pbp-ing.
Rob, just thought you might wish to know that Radavel's Rise of the Kobold King is restarting, in case you didn't see.
I apologize for the threadjack.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the congrats! We're doing well and happy, and looking forward to the honeymoon! And FW, I meant me and the wife for the honeymoon, but the group for the game. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get back to the game before the honeymoon.
As you can tell, I've been so busy that I haven't even had time to check back on the boards. I know, I know, lots of excuses, but it doesn't look like I'm going to get back into it before I leave for the honeymoon. I SUCK!
But I absolutely promise to get the game started up again when I get back, round about the week of October 12. So check back then - I've got some plans to jump-start this thing and get it going again.

Hey guys,
I'm finally back from the honeymoon (we had a great time, by the way), but I've got some good news and bad news.
Bad news first:
It looks like I'm going to have to cancel the game.
The good news:
I'm canceling the game because I'm moving to the Seattle area in 2 weeks. Why? Because I'll be joining Paizo as an Assistant Editor!
I wish I didn't have to stop the game, but things are so crazy now what with moving to another country and starting a new job that there's no way I can keep up with the game right now. Unfortunately, I can't really say when it might be back - I'm not sure yet how busy I'll be (other than "very" probably). Of course, I'll still be around on the boards - I think it's a job requirement. :)
So I think it's best to cancel the game for now. If, down the road, I have the time to get back into it, I'll be sure to track you guys down if you're interested in starting it back up.
I've really enjoyed DM'ing the game for you guys, and loved the characters and the roleplaying. Thanks for a fun time! I hope to stay in contact with you, on the boards and elsewhere.
Rob

Cool. No worries on the game cancellation. I'm spread a bit thin to keep up with so many PbP's anyway. And, I'm learning the time demands on a Paizo freelancer are pretty significant, too. I'm sure you'll be hit a lot harder than me, though. Best of luck with the new job. Thanks for having me in your Iskandria game and giving me a chance to experience the campaign setting. I had fun.
