1.5G VRAM?

God, that's obscene - sounds like fun.

Xfire lagging up eh? Perhaps we should use Skype. Good luck until I can join you (sigh).

P.S. So your all on Shulgoth U.S. server, yeah? Wouldn't wanna get the wrong one or anything.

Xfire wasn't being very consistent...I could get a decent connection with one friend, but another would produce an echo, echo, echo, echo.

We bagged it and went with Skype, which had ZERO issues.

The lag was in the game, when you get 4 characters, all their bots, summons, missile fire, toxic and spectral splashes, and a dozen demons on the screen together. It was so bad, I couldn't activate abilities or heal. Which equals death, most certainly.

Skype, though....never flinched. Solid Voice Chat the whole time.

The Overkill Engine is online and functional! Hellgate looks amazing with 1.5 GB of NVidia VRAM behind it! Sorry I couldn't join on Wednesday, I was encountering some serious issues getting the new computer to connect to the internet. I didn't resolve them until almost 1 am. :(

Fates, Karelzarath has all the new neat shiny Cabalistic stuff we found. See him. ;)

I did save some for you though....I think. :\

Dark Archive

YES!!!!!
Finally got it started! Of course, after my internet finally got uncapped following a week-long download, the thing failed with 120MB to go citing "not enough Hard Disk space" when there was over 13GB free. So eventually I just got my buddy around with his copy and installed using my codes and details and, after a few false starts, it works! I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys online, so for reference, our characters are:

Me: Shyloque (Level 6 Engineer)
Buddy No.1: Oloneshot (Level 9 Marksman)
And, so he swears after he gets it from his sister as a birthday gift tomorrow,
Buddy No.2: Phyro (Name unconfirmed, Evoker)

I was given a Hellgate:London novel to read: Exodus by Mel Odum.

Supremely cool. Takes place right after the Hellgates opened in London. The whole time I'm reading it....I'm playing it as a game in my head.

The Internet hates me. After finally giving up on the wireless card and hardwiring my computer via a 25' phone cord.... my Ethernet has decided that it wants nothing to do with the DSL modem. The modem connects just fine. The wireless computers in the house can get online without issue. However, MY computer can't connect at all now.

*sigh*

My ISP is sending me an updated driver CD to install which should hopefully resolve the issue. It's expected to get here Wednesday, so I can hopefully join you all then.

I feel your pain.....;)

So, regarding our Wednesday Demonkill Fest, I'm wondering what is going to happen with more and more people joining...in terms of the lag we saw last week.

Two people = fine.
Three people = OK...some lag, but not bad.
Four people = LAAAAAAAAG.
Five or more = Unplayable??

One thing I've thought about is that we should limit the number of minion-controllers (i.e., one engineer or summoner only). I don't know if that will make a difference though.

Thoughts?

The Exchange

**Be forewarned I give a basic review of the game after a long absence. Mainly for people that may see this thread and decide to get the game. There are better reviews out there from legit companies but I had an itching to get this off my chest**

**For the TLDR crowd feel free to skip to the end**

Just wanted to jump in to say I re-installed the game about a week ago. The last I played it was beta and right after the launch. My first problem was pre-ordering it from EA.com (which is another matter I am not going to discuss here) because I liked their dye kit better. The game itself didn't look good on a Pentium D 3.4GHz, 8800GTS 640MB vid card, and 2 GB of ram. Lag all by myself was almost unbearable. Having said that, this thread got me thinking about the game again. So on a whim I used the crappy EA download manager to get the game again. Since my last playtime with the game I have added another 8800GTS 640MB card in SLI as well as a brand spanking new 780i eVGA motherboard. The game loaded up, downloaded all the patches, and created me a Marksman. Visually the game is a lot nicer looking, most likely due to the graphics power of my computer. Framerates seem to be really high now with no slowdowns in fights. There are still some graphical clipping issues but for the most part it looks good enough. I can't really comment on the sound as I usually only hear my automatic rifle or rocket launcher blasting the spawns from hell apart. I should also point out so far I have only played single player since the re-install. The SP quests are the typical MMO variety. Kill 20 zombies, get 10 eyes of whatever, but they go very quickly as each zone or instance is preset to give you the right number by the end of it.

My only problem with the SP aspect of the game is it is verrry boring. I have hit level 11 and I am finding it to just drag on. The monsters seem to be all the same with the occasional blue or gold/yellow elite to kill. It is a nice escape for mindless entertainment though and it doesn't have a monthly charge like WoW does. I will try MP this weekend to see if that seems any better. Other than playing co-op mode, what is the difference between MP and SP?

With all that said, can the others tell me what you find enjoyable about the game? Do you prefer SP or MP play? Are the item drops better in MP even if playing solo?

Personally, I SP and MP play pretty much the same for me. The only differences I see with MP are that they are updating MP far more often than SP. I like the updates I've seen in MP, and wish they were in SP too. Plus MP has Stonehenge, whenever I get that far in the game (which I have not). AND, in MP, I can play with Lilith, Fatespinner, and others, which is great from the social aspect. That said, I'm not a big MMO player. I like to know the folks I'm playing with.

However, MP requires me to depend on the server to play. It requires group coordination. And most of the time, I just want to sit down and play for an hour or two, independent of all outside forces.

What do I like in the game? Ease of hitting. In DDO, you actually had to be facing the target EXACTLY, or you missed. So, hitting was less dependent on your character's abilities and moreso on YOUR ability to exert precise control of your mouse. But, I mostly enjoy the Diablo-esque scavenger hunt for better items, and then tweaking and modding those items into even BETTER items.

I also love the randomization of the levels each session I go in to play. Looks the same, sure...but just enough of a mix to be new-ish.

My computer works! My internet woes are resolved! I shall join the masses for Hellgate tonight at 9pm PDT.... which... should be 9pm MST as well. Damn you people and your Daylight Savings Time. We don't tolerate that crap here in Arizona. It makes us confused.

EIGHT pm, Fatey, EIGHT! :D

After a marathon weekend of playing, I have caught up to you Lilith, Fatespinner, Karelzarath. Just finished Millenium Battle, and I'm Lvl 14. Half of my equipment is now legendary.

Still hoping for a chance to buy 2 GB of RAM...my load times are horrid...about twice that of everyone else's. Unfortunately, $$ is tight right now. :(

Bard: Sorry I didn't reply when you hailed. I had the chat window off, and didn't see it until later.

Ugh. So, how far am I behind NOW? :/

Seriously, I haven't played in over 2 weeks. Between taxes, extra D&D sessions, visiting friend, and Paizocon planning....who has time for demon-killing?

Slightly off topic, but in Real Life, Boris Johnson has just been elected mayor of our capital city, here in the UK. BORIS JOHNSON.
Wikipedia link here although it really doesn't convey what an idiot he has made of himself at times.

The board members of Paizo have an official guild now:

London Pathfinders

Thanks to Fatespinner for getting us hooked up. :w00t:

Sweet carnage ensued once we hit level 25 and Karelzarath gave his Warper some sweet abilities, I got my Bomber Bot, and Fatespinner with his Spectral Lash Mastery.

Glorious Carnage.

OK. I'm depressed now. I'm Lvl 21, but you've certainly left me in the dust, now :( (Stupid slow a## computer!!!).

Is the guild membership for subscribers only? Or can non-subscribers join as well?

Anyone can JOIN the guild, it just requires a subscriber (me) to START the guild. Lilith and Karelzarath, as far as I'm aware, are not subscribers, yet they are guilded.

OK, I logged on and played last night...Level 22 now! W00T!

But, how do I find and join the guild? Do I need one of you to invite me? I didn't even see a list of guilds to join.

BTW, Lilith and Fatespinner....check your mailbox next time you play. You will have a Legendary Delivery!!

Tim

Yeah, you have to be invited to the guild by one of us. I'm not sure if there's anyway to recruit people offline (via mail or something of the sort) but I'll look into it.

LEVEL 30!!!!!!!

Hellfire is frickin' sweeeeet. Also, I upgraded the hell out of my foci, but I'm still holding out for something with more damage and mod slots. I'll make due for now. Also, Necropolis is awesome!

YES! Level 30 is mine. Go go go Napalm Strike!

Yeah, Necropolis is damn awesome, one of those freaky "This is what the Underdark should look like" after you take the laser sights off.
