Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Should have started this a little bit ago, but between the Devil's Rejects and Suicide girls I got kinda distracted...

Anyways, after a comment made in another discussion I thought I'd open up a topic on the humble grimlock, as they are (at least in my opinion) an amazingly cool concept that doesn't get nearly enough attention.

For insperation, most of my external ideas come from the movie the Decent, as well as the Monster Manual (obviously), and an encounter in the Three Faces of Evil not so long ago.

The person who made the comment that sparked this mentioned Papa New Guinea headhunters and African zulu warriors. I like the potential that has.

One thing I was thinking about while watching Devil's Rejects is having a few different cultural lines dividing up the base concept. In essence, for my decent idea there would be one type of grimlock (perhaps a tribe or clan, or maybe something as broad as just a variety) that live in, and have adapted to forested mountains on the fronteer of society. The live underground, come out at night, prey on stray cattle, wild animals, and the occassional unlucky villager/hunter. Going with the zulu theme we could have another variety come from a more arrid region, where they still live underground, but are more active hunters than opportunist. Perhaps they lie in shallow depressions in the ground, covered in sand and loose dirt, using their blindsight to detect approaching food, and burst up out of the ground in an ambush.

Please, anyone remotely interested in this subject, the more ideas the merrier.
