I move to block the door and Channel Positive Energy to heal!

Channeling Positive Energy! (1d6=6)

Make a Local Knowledge Check, (DC 12) if you really want to know.

Magazin's burst of healing energy washes over one and all, including the half-elf that just kicked Eugen.

"Wow," says the half elf with a grin, "Many thanks! That took care of my hangover and now I can take care of you!"

Eugen's attack. If Eugen wants to flank the half elf, he can by moving so that the half-elf is between he and Magazin.

Male Human Fighter 1

i move to flank, and swing my sword in a horizontal arc as i spin to face the half-elf:

attacking, flanking (1d20 +5 +2=27)

critical (1d20 +5 +2=14)

is that a critical?

Eugen Enescu wrote:

Sorry, nope. But very close.

Male Human Fighter 1

alas!

"you'd make this easier on all of us, if you would (grunt) just surrender now!"

damage to half-elf (1d8 3=10)

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

1d6=1+1=2 damage

Kenzo kicks the door again.

1d6=3+1=4 damage

Does Kenzo get any of that healin'?

Below the Glassworks - Round 2
Jessa - Initiative: 22
Kenzo - Initiative: 21
HALFELF - Initiative: 19
Magazin - Initiative: 11
Gyorgy - Initiative: 10
Eugen - Initiative: 7

The door is thick wood (hardness 5) and Kenzo's kicks don't do a whole lot to it. On a more positive note, Kenzo does feel more rejuvenated from the healing energy (both Kenzo and Jessa are affected by it.)

Will Save: (1d20+7=20)

The half elf easily shrugs off Gyorgy's spell but he stumbles as Eugen's blade strikes him. However he remains on his feet.

"My love will bring me back," he grunts as his fists fly rapidly at Magazin.

Flurry of Blows: (1d20+1=19, 1d20+1=10)
Damage: (1d6+1=5)

"Out of my way Moth!" he snarls angrily as one fist catches Magazin across the chin.

Jessa straightens up as she senses the wave of healing energy suffuse her. Feeling much more like herself, she eyes the door that refuses to give under Kenzo's assault. "Come on...hurry up..." she urges.

Still readying an action to daze anything that comes out the door. If Jessa can do the same in the event Eugen's attacker breaks free, she'll ready an action for an enemy appearing through either doorway.

Gyorgy

Spoiler:
You do recognize the half-elf to be Tsuto. Seeing as how Ameiko is fully human, as were both of Ameiko's parents, it was obvious that something was up when Tsuto was born with pointed ears. The elder Kaijitsu, now dead and embalmed in glass upstairs, was furious and immediately placed Tsuto in the orphanage in town. It was always obvious to everyone in town that the whole deal soured Tsuto on Sandpoint and no one was surprised when he left several years ago after his mother's death and a fight with his sister.

Male Half-Elf (Shoanti) Cleric 2 (Favored:Cleric)

Reeling back from the punch, I regain my footing and swing at the Half Elf with my Mace! (1d20+2=22, 1d8+2=6)

Sweet Sweet Luck!

Crit confirm and damage if necessary! (1d20+2=20, 1d8+2=4)

Magazin's blow catches the half-elf aside the head. He is flung to the side and strikes the door before falling to the ground in a heap.

It is apparent that the fallen half-elf is not quite dead. Though how he is hanging on to life is anyone's guess with the head injury he just took.

Go, Magazin!

Kenzo keep kicking at the door.

By my calculations, you have done 1 hp of damage to the door with your foot. It would probably be faster at this rate to find a sledgehammer, a locksmith or a key. Just saying. ;)

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Since no one has tried coming through the door, Kenzo has come to the conclusion that it's possibly Ameiko is on the other side. Realizing things have gotten quiet in the next room, Kenzo looks in to see Magazin standing over a body. Looking at the body, a thought pops in to his head, and he searches the body for any keys.

Oh. Good Call. ;)

There are several things of interest on the barely living half elf, including a silver flute and a bottle of blue liquid with a white flower floating inside. But finally in pouch on his belt filled with small heavy bags, Kenzo finds a key.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo looks at Magazin and says, "Nice work," and then hands him the bottle and the flute. He says, "I think we've found Ameiko," and leaves the room. He sheathes his sword, looks at Jessa, and tries the keys.

The key does indeed fit the lock.

Opening the door reveals a store room, much like the other one.

However, on the floor, next to a borken window pane she just knocked over and broke is Ameiko. She has tied up, gagged, and blindfolded.

As the door opens, she kicks and strains against her bonds, as if scared of what is going to happen to her next.

"Oh dear! It's AMEIKO!" Jessa calls out for the others to hear, rushing past Kenzo to assist the girl, "What have they done to you? It's alright...it's okay...we're here to help you. Bethana sent us. She told us about the letter."

She removes the blindfold first so Ameiko can see her rescuers and calm down. Then Jessa goes to work on the gag so the girl can talk again. Lastly, she tries her luck at undoing the knots. When they prove a little too tightly drawn for her, Jessa frowns and then passes her hand over them, chanting, "Ouveros!"

Jessa will use a prestidigitation cantrip to untie the knots.

"There...better?" she asks, helping Ameiko to sit up, "It's okay, they stopped...Tsuto?...was that his name? And the goblins too."

Ameiko moves wobbily to her feet.

"My father..." are the first words she gasps and then she is overcome by tears.

"Tsuto," she asks after a moment, "Is he...," but she cannot bring herself to finish the question.

Male Human Fighter 1

noticing a touch of the quick still left, i muse,
"do you suppose there might be a reward for this fellow's capture? maybe somebody would like to talk to him."

i help kenzo go through his pockets and generally try to set the half elf's mind at rest by relieving him of his weighty earthly burdens. it just seems like the right thing to do.

as an afterthought, "who do you suppose he was calling?"

Jessa bites her lip, nearly as distraught as Ameiko with the thought of breaking the news to her about her father. If she didn't know his fate already, how much more horrifying would it be to learn the manner of his death now? Thankfully, Ameiko asks a different question for her to focus on instead...

DM Wicht wrote:

"I...I don't know," Jessa answers, "He put up quite a fight, but the others stopped him. I think maybe he's just unconscious. Magazin?! Ameiko wants to know about Tsuto. Can you check on him? And someone tie him up if he's still breathing."

She looks back at Ameiko. "Um...can...can you tell us what happened?" she asks, "The glassworks is...well, a mess. There were goblins everywhere. And their cruelty...it was just...horrible. How did this happen? Why? Did Tsuto say anything?"

Diplomacy check... (1d20+5=23)

Jessa is doing everything she can to put Ameiko's mind at ease. She has no idea what the poor girl may have experienced at the hands of Tsuto and the goblins, but she knows it's often better to have another woman at hand to talk about such things sometimes.

Ameiko tries valiantly to compose herself. After a minute or two, she seems to be in better shape. And when she finally answers the question, she does so with a very clear, almost distant voice, though her eyes still tell a different tale and it is clear that she is in pain from wounds.

“I came to the glassworks because Tsuto wrote me a letter. When I arrived my father… my father was already dead and Tsuto had…. He had encased him in glass. There were goblins everywhere. He said he was in love with… with Nualia and that it was her idea. He wanted me to join him. I couldn’t believe what I heard,… what I was hearing and I… I slapped him. He and his goblins beat me and then dragged me down here.”

As Jessa holds her, she realizes Ameiko is still fairly beat up and wounded from her ordeal. "Magazin?" she calls out, "Ameiko's hurt. Can you come take a look?"

Nualia was the name of the late Father Tobyn's foster daughter. Her grave is next to Tobyn's grave in the boneyard. The name is not unusual, but neither is it that common.

I approach Ameiko, but pause without invading her and Jessa's space.

"Ameiko...I'm glad... well, um... it's good that your safe."

Then I dawdle awkwardly for a few moments before moving back toward the rest of the gang.

"Um..."

Channel Positive Energy! (1d6=6).

Eugen Enescu wrote:

The book is a loose leaf journal. A quick perusal reveals some personal musings, some telling maps of Sandpoint and the region around it showing plans of attack, and some drawings of a white haired woman in erotic poses. Several of the drawings of this woman depict her with a massive red claw on her left hand, others don't. One of the drawings shows the woman in the form of a succubus.

Several of the maps show a tunnel under the Glassworks heading north.

More details will require more extensive reading.

The half-elf does not awake, but everyone else feels much better. Only Ameiko still shows signs of injury following the strong blast of positive energy that crackled through the air.

As an aside, a gamekeeping note if you will, each PC has earned a recalculated total of 2000 exp. This, using the Pathfinder Fast Track EXP chart is enough to advance to 2nd level. My general rule of thumb is that advancing requires at least a day or two. Story wise, the party is in a good place to take that day at this point. On the other hand, there is, as the maps show, and Ameiko can confirm, a tunnel that connects the Glassworks to the coast. Whether you choose to explore the tunnel immediately is entirely up to you.

Male Human Fighter 1

i'd be down for a brief break, i've not found time to update my character to the new rules, and this might be a good chance to fix him up when i maybe have some free time on sunday. but if people want to press forward i wouldn't argue too much.

Well, we've got to sort things out with the bereaved families of the glassworks staff, help Ameiko pull herself together after the death of her father/betrayal of her brother, interogate Tsuto...

That should take a few days.

and I'm sure Aunt Luba will have some chores (especially at the Dragon now).

Female Human Wizard (Diviner) 2 / Cleric 1 of Sivhana

"Let's get you out of here," Jessa tells Ameiko, helping the girl to her feet. She keeps a protective arm around her and helps her back upstairs. And she pointedly avoids taking her past any of the bodies, especially her father's for now.

Male Human Ki Mystic Monk 4

Kenzo agrees that leaving the glassworks is a good idea, as is taking some time to go over Tstuto's journal and digesting what's going on. He also retrieves his other dagger from the furnace room before leaving.

Leaving it is then. Go ahead and level your characters. For skills, follow the Alpha 2 rules except for one thing. Each PC was allowed a bonus skill when creating the character (Craft, Profession or a specific Knowledge (Local, History, Geography, Religion)). Allow yourself one bonus skill point when leveling but it must be applied to your bonus skill.

Hopefully this evening I will have a longer post summarizing discovery, treasure and story for the next two days of IC time. If you have specific goals or questions, let me know before then.

Sorry for the delay in posting. What follows is a breakdown of what was found on Tsuto in the Glassworks. I am assuming that someone in the party would take the time to have some of the items appraised and that the spell users would check to see what was magical and what was not. I will not always just assume this, but in this case it seems reasonable. You guys are responsible for determining what goes where. You can handle it however you want, either here or in the discussion thread.

* The bottle with the floating flower in a blue liquid is a potion of cure light wounds
* The flute is a silver plated masterwork flute worth 100 gp, resale value 50 gp
* The composite shortbow has a +1 Strength bonus
* The silver ring with a shield shaped green stone is a ring of Protection +1
* The High quality steel thieves tools are worth 100 gp, resale value 50 gp
* The Silver earrings are worth 25 gp, resale value 13 gp
* The 6 pouches containing gold dust have a value of 50 gp each, worth a total of 300 gp
* The 8 pouches containing silver dust have a value of 5 gp each, worth a total of 40 gp

There was also...
* 10 platinum credit coins issued by Seven Brothers Lumber, worth 10 gp each
* 20 arrows
* A full bottle of wine made by the Two Knight Brewery (worth 1 sp)
* A quill and a half filled vial of ink (worth 5 sp)
* A round ball of red glass, one inch in diameter (worth 1 sp)

When you have distributed these things, we'll deal with the journal.

Tsuto, still unconscious, is taken into custody by the guard.

Ameiko accepts the bags of metallic dust a little numbly. Within a day however she seems much recovered and announces publicly that her rescuers can eat free at the Rusty Dragon for a month and a day. The move seems quite popular and for the next few nights the Rusty Dragon is filled with business.

Garridan Viskalai, the owner of the White Deer, takes Kenzo aside the next morning and tells him quietly that though he doesn’t want it spread around, he too appreciates the parties help in protecting the town. If they want to eat at his place sometime, he won’t charge them for their meals either.

By that afternoon, there are notices in Cracktooth’s announcing “Public Heroes Eat For Free in this Establishment!” and in the Hagfish saying “Free Food for those Brave Enough to Slay Goblins and Drink Norah’s Water.”

After distributing the items removed from Tsuto amongst themselves, the party works to sell off some of the things they don’t want. The various shopkeepers seem happy to purchase the items and ridding themselves of the loot is rather easy.

Meanwhile, the journal is examined in some detail and the secrets it reveals are unsettling.

First of all are the drawings of the woman that is soon confirmed to resemble Nualia, the adopted daughter of the late Father Tobyn. She is quite striking with white hair and violet eyes. Most of the pictures are of her in various erotic poses, but one of the pictures, as noted before, shows her with a large red claw. The last picture shows her with horns, a forked tail and bat wings. A notation on the back of the drawing reads, ”My love seems bent on going through with it – nothing I can say convinces her of her beauty. She remains obsessed with removing what she calls her 'celestial taint' and replacing it with her Mother’s grace. Burning her father’s remains as an offering on Thistletop seems to have started the transformation and I can’t say her new hand is pleasing to me. Hopefully when she offers Sandpoint to Lamashtu’s fires, her new body won’t be as hideous. Maybe I’ll luck out. Succubi are demons too, aren’t they?”

Perhaps most telling are the maps in the journal. The maps each depict different attack plans, mostly concerned with Sandpoint, though a few show raids on nearby farms. There is one map that shows an attack force of thirty goblins attacking Sandpoint. That map is circled in red ink and a notation follows it.

”The Raid went about as planned. Few Thistletop goblins perished, and we were able to secure Tobyn’s casket with ease while the rubes were distracted with the other tribes. I can’t wait until the real raid. This town needs a good burning, that’s for sure.”

The next several maps show an attack on Sandpoint by what appear to be about two hundred goblins. None of these maps are circled and a few are scratched out. A notation accompanies these as well.

Ripnugget seems to favor the overwhelming land approach, but I don’t think it’s the best plan. We should get the quasit’s aid. She and her freaks can come up from below the town through the smuggling tunnels in the Glassworks. Then we invade from the river and from the glassworks in smaller but more focused strikes. The rest except Bruthazmus agree, and I think the bugbear just wants to annoy me. He says he favors killing the town’s children first in the night and then attacking a day or two later. I told him he was impractical. My love is too distracted in the lower chambers to make a decision. She says that once Malfeshnekor is released and under her command, we won’t need to worry about being subtle.
