Aw man, I shoulda got the hint in the poem you did. Still, that guy has put out too much stuff for me to keep up with like I should. Him n Bowie n Prince n Sly Stone are juggernauts!

Own 'em all, myself. Not just the music but their immortal souls.

Did I write loaner instead of loner? Jeez.

You captured them in one of those Stephen King-like Kodaks? Or Faust them away?

Hey, get Sly to release some of his tapes. You ever hear his version of "Que Sera Sera"?

OK, here is one of my favorite set of lyrics. I used to think about these whenever times got tough. And I'll be shocked if anybody gets the song, even though it is a major artist.

"My karma tells me, you've been screwed again. If you let them do it to you, you got yourself to blame. It's you who feels the pain. It's you who takes the shame."

-Lisa

Dirty Jobs I think is the name of the song. I think that's the Who?

Yes! Excellent! Btw, The Who was one of my favorite bands growing up. Pete Townshend's lyrics really spoke to a shy kid who was trying to find her way in the world. Glad to see I am not the only person who remembers. :)

Here is some more Townshend lyrics that really spoke to me at that time of my life:

"Every year is the same and I feel it again, I'm a loser, no chance to win.
Leaves start falling, come down is calling, loneliness starts sinking in.
But I'm one. Yeah, I'm one. And I can see, that this is me.
And I will be, you will see, I'm one."

Inspiring, shining.

Me from you 'cause we're in this together,

AC/DC, Dirty Deeds! Good choice.

My last one seems to have been too obscure. It was "27 Needles" by John 5.

Let's try this one...hopefully not as obscure.

But the men stood fast with their
guns on their shoulders not knowing
what to do with the contradicting orders.

If that's too small of a portion of the lyrics, I'll add in more later.

Crap. I revoke my last set of lyrics. I was reading through and seeing what songs were used on some older pages and I saw that drunken nomad specifically mentioned my song.

The General by Dispatch. Truly an awesome song, though.

I'm gonna replace that with this one which I'm very sure has not been mentioned at all...

I didn't mean to do it
It loved me in my head
I tried to be a charmer,
but I got a bit hopeless instead
The world is very sexy
It's part of my collapse

Y'know, I like "Take the money and run" too, but the lyrics are so stupid that I catch myself giggling evey time I hear them. Your lyric is annoyingly familiar - I can almost place it, but I'm not quite there. :(

Here's a set of words to a classic tune from one of the UK's finest. What is it?

Some people might say my life is in a rut,
But I'm quite happy with what I got
People might say that I should strive for more,
But I'm so happy I can't see the point.
Somethings happening here today
A show of strength with your boy's brigade and,
I'm so happy and you're so kind
You want more money - of course I don't mind
To buy nuclear textbooks for atomic crimes

And the public gets what the public wants
But I want nothing this society's got

Did you ever really know before, my face shamed to break?

Did you ever really know before, my mind, scared to think?
Did you ever really know before, my name, sung to a beat?
Did you, did you come clean in the end from the stars?
Dear Ambellina, the Prise wishes you to watch over me, oh oh...

I fought the decisions that call and lost

My mark has the revelant piece in this
I will come reformed.
In short, for the murders of those I court
I bless the hour that holds your fall
I will kill you all!

The Crowing, Coheed and Cambria, In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth. Great song and album.

Here's mine.

Through sixty-six and seven they fought the Congo War.
With their fingers on their triggers, knee-deep in gore.
Through days and nights they battled the Bantu to their knees.
They killed to earn their living, and to help out the Congolese.

Funny thread. Here's my contribution. This song popped in my head a couple of days ago and I couldn't get it out until I listened to it this morning.

And the preacher said, "You know you always have the Lord by your side"
And I was so pleased to be informed of this, that I ran twenty red lights in his honor.
Thank you Jesus.
Thank you Lord.

Oh. And here's a new one since Drunken Nomad succeeded on my last set of lyrics. Probably the easiest set of lyrics I've posted yet. Mainstream, popular, and an iconic song for an equally iconic band.

"The Girl With the Faraway Eyes" by the Rolling Stones

How about this song I totally forgot about but was reminded about by your song above:

Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner
Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee
I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat
By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set
It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray
One of them said "what do you want more than anything
in this whole wide world
Do you want money, do you want sex, or do you want all that succes?"
I thought about that myself
(Then they came upon the thing)

-Lisa

The Thing. The Men. The roadside attraction...

He has no friends
But he gets a lot of mail
I'll bet he spent a little
Time in jail...
I heard he was up on the
Roof last night
Signaling with a flashlight
And what's that tune he's
Always whistling...

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

That makes three. I am curious if anyone gets them.

But still, you push me to see
Something, I can never be
Why am I their shattered king?
I don't mean anything

and this...

I want to ride out on your quest
I'm waiting, I'm waiting, to stand by your side
To fight with you over the sea
They're calling, they're calling, I have to be there
The holy land has to be free Fight the good fight
Believe what is right

and finally...

They hammered and wrought and the rune spell caught
And engraved upon it's shaft,
With a head of steel beneath which all men would kneel,
And would lay down the sword, at last.
