The Jade wrote:Mine was the Loaner, by Neil Young. I won't be going back that far again.Aw man, I shoulda got the hint in the poem you did. Still, that guy has put out too much stuff for me to keep up with like I should. Him n Bowie n Prince n Sly Stone are juggernauts!
Own 'em all, myself. Not just the music but their immortal souls.
Did I write loaner instead of loner? Jeez.

You got it. now post one of yer own!OK, here is one of my favorite set of lyrics. I used to think about these whenever times got tough. And I'll be shocked if anybody gets the song, even though it is a major artist.
"My karma tells me, you've been screwed again. If you let them do it to you, you got yourself to blame. It's you who feels the pain. It's you who takes the shame."
-Lisa
Yes! Excellent! Btw, The Who was one of my favorite bands growing up. Pete Townshend's lyrics really spoke to a shy kid who was trying to find her way in the world. Glad to see I am not the only person who remembers. :)
Here is some more Townshend lyrics that really spoke to me at that time of my life:
"Every year is the same and I feel it again, I'm a loser, no chance to win.
Leaves start falling, come down is calling, loneliness starts sinking in.
But I'm one. Yeah, I'm one. And I can see, that this is me.
And I will be, you will see, I'm one."

Inspiring, shining.
Rising,
And when you're in my way you're not dividing
Me from you 'cause we're in this together,
Perfect in its splendor like the currents of the weather.
This splinter in my center hindering all of my pleasure,
Purely manifested as you in this endeavor.
Once responsibility is taken I can render
Experience to be however I want to remember...

My last one seems to have been too obscure. It was "27 Needles" by John 5.
Let's try this one...hopefully not as obscure.
But the men stood fast with their
guns on their shoulders not knowing
what to do with the contradicting orders.
If that's too small of a portion of the lyrics, I'll add in more later.

MaxSlasher26 |

Crap. I revoke my last set of lyrics. I was reading through and seeing what songs were used on some older pages and I saw that drunken nomad specifically mentioned my song.
The General by Dispatch. Truly an awesome song, though.
I'm gonna replace that with this one which I'm very sure has not been mentioned at all...
I didn't mean to do it
It loved me in my head
I tried to be a charmer,
but I got a bit hopeless instead
The world is very sexy
It's part of my collapse

If she wants to dance and drink all night,
Well there's no one that can stop her.
She's going 'til the house lights come up,
Until her stomach spills onto the floor.
This night is gonna end
When we're damn well ready for it to be over.
It's all we want, and the music is playing on our time.
We do what we do to get by...
No mother ever dreams that her daughter's gonna sleep alone.
And if she had to do it all over agin, whe wouldn't change anything for the world.

They headed down to ooooh old El Paso
Where they ran into a great big ...hassle (thats not the word I heard him say...*grin*)
g'wan Take the Money n Run woo woo woo
I still like "In the Wintertime" by that band.
Sorry MaxSlasher. I guessed it prematurely! And I think I know yer new one, but I have to think about it.
Dunno Mr Shiny's...dangit, even with the spoiler.
My last one was "Rock and Roll Children" by DIO!
Let's see if ya know this one:
Many miles away
Theres a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark scottish lake
Many miles away, many miles away

Y'know, I like "Take the money and run" too, but the lyrics are so stupid that I catch myself giggling evey time I hear them. Your lyric is annoyingly familiar - I can almost place it, but I'm not quite there. :(
Here's a set of words to a classic tune from one of the UK's finest. What is it?
Some people might say my life is in a rut,
But I'm quite happy with what I got
People might say that I should strive for more,
But I'm so happy I can't see the point.
Somethings happening here today
A show of strength with your boy's brigade and,
I'm so happy and you're so kind
You want more money - of course I don't mind
To buy nuclear textbooks for atomic crimes
And the public gets what the public wants
But I want nothing this society's got

Did you ever really know before, my face shamed to break?
Did you ever really know before, my mind, scared to think?
Did you ever really know before, my name, sung to a beat?
Did you, did you come clean in the end from the stars?
Dear Ambellina, the Prise wishes you to watch over me, oh oh...
I fought the decisions that call and lost
My mark has the revelant piece in thisI will come reformed.
In short, for the murders of those I court
I bless the hour that holds your fall
I will kill you all!
The Crowing, Coheed and Cambria, In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth. Great song and album.
Here's mine.
Through sixty-six and seven they fought the Congo War.
With their fingers on their triggers, knee-deep in gore.
Through days and nights they battled the Bantu to their knees.
They killed to earn their living, and to help out the Congolese.

Funny thread. Here's my contribution. This song popped in my head a couple of days ago and I couldn't get it out until I listened to it this morning.
And the preacher said, "You know you always have the Lord by your side"
And I was so pleased to be informed of this, that I ran twenty red lights in his honor.
Thank you Jesus.
Thank you Lord.

You heard MightyMighty Bosstones cover of this one? Way cool. They add a line after all that spoken word stuff:
"and I won't dancein a club like this
cause all the girls are s***s
and the beer tastes just like p**s!"
and MaxSlasher, its blablablablaGorillaz! "Rock It". Reject false icons. Love Jamie Hewlett's art...that was what initially drew me in, but the songs are too catchy!

When the plane came in
She said she was crashing
The velvet it rips
In the city we tripped
On the urge to feel alive
But now I'm struggling to survive
The days you were wearing
That velvet dress
You're the priestess, I must confess
Those little red panties
They pass the test
Slide up around the belly
Face down on the mattress

Well it's a big, big city and it's always the same,
Can never be too pretty, tell me your name.
Is it out
Of line
If I was to be bold and ask if you'd be mine.
Well, I may be a beggar and you may be the queen,
And though I may be on a downer I'm still ready to dream,
And it's three
O'clock
The time, it's just the time it takes for you to talk.
So if you're lonely, why'd you say you're not lonely?
Oh you're a silly girl, I know,
I told you so, it's just like you to come and go...

So I did...

I saw Bruce on this tour (as a supporting act for Jackyl?!?!!?!?)
"Tears of the Dragon" was the amazing single, get Balls to Picasso if you dont already own it! I love every song on there. Accident of Birth is awesome too. Dont have Tyranny of Souls, yet. Christmas is coming soon...Sorry, Luke I have no idea who that is. Is it newer/older? Pop/metal/country? Male/Female?
And Shadowcat's sounds verrrry tempting. Not a WASP tune?

The gravedigger puts on the forceps.
The stonemason does all the work.
The barber can give you a haircut.
The carpenter can take you out to lunch.
Now I just want to play on my panpipes.
I just want to drink me some wine.
As soon as you're born, you start dying,
So you might as well have a good time.

The gravedigger puts on the forceps.
Sheep go to heaven, goats...go to hell!
Awesome little tune; fantastic choice.
Here's a recent one I'm really liking:
Back and forth the struggle consumes us all.
Trying to keep a level head.
In the most unsettling of times.
I'd post a "Ray Street Park" tune, but only Detroiter's would know it.

They call it "Rockit" on the album, but whatever. Same awesome song!

MaxSlasher26 |

Oh. And here's a new one since Drunken Nomad succeeded on my last set of lyrics. Probably the easiest set of lyrics I've posted yet. Mainstream, popular, and an iconic song for an equally iconic band.
Soldier blue on the barren wastes
Hunting and killing their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good Indians are tame
Selling them whiskey and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old

That and this, these and those.
No one knows.
We get these pills to swallow.
How they stick
In your mouth.
Tastes like home.
Oh, what you do to me.
No one knows.
Come on, you put the title in the post! Dave G rocks the drums in Queens of the Stone Age. Obviously, No One Knows!

God, I totally loved this song for the longest time. I had it on a K-Tel type cassette with Priest's "Parental Guidance", Vinnie Vincent's "Animal" and some other stuff that Im blanking on...I probably still have the tape in the basement somewhere. It seems like every song they did had them screaming the title in the opening bars of the song. Funny now, but oh so RAWK! at the time. Beavis n Butthead ruined these guys for me. I think the vid had Anthrax in the jailcells doing a cameo right? Now I have to youtube these vids....Thanks for that!
No clue on the other one you had.

I see a dark sail on the horizon set under a black
cloud that hides the sun.
Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding.
Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding.
Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman.
Bless with a hard heart those who surround me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind. Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on for the motherland.

"The Girl With the Faraway Eyes" by the Rolling Stones
How about this song I totally forgot about but was reminded about by your song above:
Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner
Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee
I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat
By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set
It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray
One of them said "what do you want more than anything
in this whole wide world
Do you want money, do you want sex, or do you want all that succes?"
I thought about that myself
(Then they came upon the thing)
-Lisa

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead
That makes three. I am curious if anyone gets them.

he he he Reaper had spectacularly bad teeth... but then this was back in the day and yes the last one was Angel Witch's angel of death. what about these...
Make the sadness go away
Come back another day
The things I've said and done
Don't matter to anyone
But still, you push me to see
Something, I can never be
Why am I their shattered king?
I don't mean anything
and this...
I want to ride out on your quest
I'm waiting, I'm waiting, to stand by your side
To fight with you over the sea
They're calling, they're calling, I have to be there
The holy land has to be free Fight the good fight
Believe what is right
and finally...
They hammered and wrought and the rune spell caught
And engraved upon it's shaft,
With a head of steel beneath which all men would kneel,
And would lay down the sword, at last.
good metal ALWAYS rawks!!!
