As an aside, my inspiration to write that article was the fact that Wizards had put in this mechanism for personalizing rangers, but only gave two options. I wrote it as a tacit challenge to other designers to expand on the ranger combat styles. As far as I know, no one else did. And yet, there are many, many alternate monk fighting styles, even though that's not in the core rules. I blame ninjas.
