As Oso points out the gruesome mess hanging above in the trees, everyone notices that the body's gear or at least some of it still seems to be there.

If anyone cares to climb up and check it will take about 15 minutes

Spoiler:
2 crossbows, 2 short swords, hide armor, masterwork shortbow, a ring with the image of a flaming hawk, 9 gp, 12 sp, and 8 days rations.

The group is 1.5 hours from the witch's hut

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

Oso begins to understand.

He carefully climbs up (takes 10+5=15) and cuts the bodies down with a handaxe.

Then just as carefully he returns, fully expecting Bobek to have rifled the corpses already.

If nothing else, I want to use the masterwork shortbow ;-)

*Unless anyone else wanted it, then we could figure it out.

These men did not die well, and I have reservations regarding ghouling over their belongings. What you do is your business, however.

Chalen mumbles a few archaic words, accompanied by a quick gesture, then begins to concentrate on the bodies and belongings of the dead (casts detect magic).

If anything indicates the presence of magic, Chalen will point it out with something akin to "if you're going to pillage, at least damn yourself over something worthwhile."

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

While Chalen casts the spell, Oso mutters, "Our tribe do not want to see waste. Leaving this valuable equipment behind is wasteful, especially when we have horses."

Whatever isn't claimed by the rest of the band, Oso will add to the horses saddles.

I will send you guys towards the hut tomorrow. Bobek are you out there? Also, would someone please run Louinor for a week or two? Dreamweaver is on vacation.

The Exchange

I'll volunteer if no one else minds.

That sounds fine. I will post soon in regards to approaching the hut . . .is everyone still aboard?

DM - is anything magical? ring? short sword(s)? hide armor?

I will assume you guys toss in the equipment that you recieved from the hobgoblin as well. The bracelet of rabbit feet is magical. Chalen make a spellcraft check DC 12

Spoiler:
faint abjuration

Freaking Oiy.

The bracelet lying there (points) is enchanted, though I cannot determine the type of magic which imbues it. Perhaps another time.

So you know the bracelet is magical. Anything else need be done before we head to the hut?

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

I suggest that Chalen put the bracelet on.

Oso looks down at the bracelet, "Strength of arm and sword is all that I need. Perhaps it would help one of you?"

Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1

Chalen bows out of slipping on the bangle.

Compunctions against pillaging the dead aside, I find it is best never to try on a magic item before knowing more about it.

Once in my Uncle’s laboratory I had a most stressful mishap with a cursed belt. However, on the upside, I learned to dance, and was voted “harvest queen” two years running. Eventually, he felt I had suffered enough and severed the enchantment.

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

Oso smiles and shrugs.

lol

I hope Bobek joins the group soon. Before bed tonight, I will post the next phase of our little story.

Oso has just been convinced by Chalen never to try a magic thing on again. It was a very persuasive argument.Malleon do you want the bracelet?

Sure.

Oso will look on as Malleon puts the bracelet on. His natural aversion to magic coupled with Chalen's story makes Malleon seem very brave or...

Lets go with brave, shall we? ;-)

"You very brave, Malleon."

Guys. This sucks. But I have to have surgery on Monday . . .which means this weekend is full of grad apps, research papers, and short story editing (stuff I was hoping to spread out a bit more). Monday,
I will be out of comission, but the operation (for a hernia) is an outpatient deal . . .I will be sore for a week, but starting Tuesday I will probably do more pbp than normal as I will likely be in front of my computer screen full-time.

Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1

Oh ouch. That has got to be uncomfortable. Take your time, don't overdo it or you'll be right back in there. So, get well soon!

Male Human Unfortunately, I appear to be an Expert, not anything cool :-(

Yeah, I'll second that ouch!

I haven't had a hernia exactly, but I;ve had it simulated pretty well when I had abdominal muscles sliced as a part of a surgery.

My advise is take it slow... and make sure everything you need is at shoulder level or lower. It sucks if you need a cup and they are all in a high cupboard for example.

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

No problem, DM.

Take Care on Monday and like the rest say this probably isn't a quick fix.

No rush here, especially as we are missing a response from Chaosmos/Bobek.

Cheers

Hey Folks, I'm back! Bobek heard the distant sound of corpse-looting and I came a-runnin'!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and I'll be checking when the game picks up again.

YeaH! Bobek! I am wee bit woozy from the surgery still, but as I have nothing better to do than pop painpills, as soon as my girlfriend gets home I will begin posting (she is out picking me up the boardgame Risk. . . I am going to teach her how to play . . . she is a good woman)

Spoiler:
Nothing to do with this game - DM. Dreamweaver/Nani have you checked out the Erian's Glen discussion thread yet?

Grand Lodge

Male Nurse/Father

Yeah just saw it, suck but I guess it is his decision.

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

Oso keeps looking around the woods for danger or a hut.

After roughly 2 hours of travel the group approaches a small structure.

A decrepit hut stands in the center of a small clearing, it borders a small garden of rotted tomatoes and corn. A leaning and windblown scarecrow guards the garden; razorcrows perch on the construct, mocking its intention.

Everyone make a spot check and a listen check

Female Human Cleric 1st

I didn't think I could do this but here they are
Listen 1+4 = 5
Spot 20+3 = 20
natural 1 and a natural 20

M Human Scout1

Bobek squints at the hut, scanning for any signs of recent occupation.

Wow, Louinor... I came pretty close to what you did, rolling a 19 and a 1!!! Listen = 25, Spot = 7

Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1

Listen (21) / Spot (15)

Chalen snaps out of his "riding horses through the woods...yet again" funk.

Looks like trouble.

Male Human Fighter 1

Apparently I'm super vigilant after being nearly eaten during the night by the wyrm.

Mal scans the clearing, an arrow nocked on his bowstring, after dismounting.

"I have a bad feeling about this..."

Spot 20, Listen 21

Ours combined and nothing is getting by us.

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

Listen 7+5=12, Spot 11+1=12

Oso early warning system's are weaker than most, but then he likes surprises.

The hut it self seems perfectly quiet and still. However, multiple members of the party see scarecrow crash in a heap in the garden; a rustle of cornstalks follow, but soon stop. You cannot see the scarecrow as nor what brought it down from your current vanatage as the withered cornstalks stand to high.

For the record, there is no windows on the hut that you see.

What do you do?

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

The black barbarian dismounts, readies his sword and shield then moves near to the garden entrance.

He then waits.

Male (5' 11'' 150 lbs.) Human Sorcerer 1

More of those crows. Anyone have a problem with me trying to scatter them off?

Dismounts and loads crossbow.

Barbarian (berserker) 3; Init +1; AC18; Hp 36/41; Saves Str +5, Con +7; Passive Perception 9

Oso shakes his head.

M Human Scout1

Bobek pulls out his bow and nocks an arrow while grinning at Chalen, "those foul black birds bring nothing but disease and trouble, Stranger." Moving stealthily, he boldly hides behind Oso and peers around him to keep an eye on the cornrows.

I will post the fiendish vampire red Great Wyrm's turn sometime tonight . . .er, I mean I will post soon.
