I have the full set of materials, so I can take over if need be, but I'm not as good a storyteller. The "Biff the Understudy" post on the other was mine. ;) I'll give him another full day yet though, I just figured maybe he went to Gen Con and forgot to mention it.

I've also got all the stuff, and don't mind taking over if you guys prefer ... but it will take me a few days to refresh my knowledge of this first chapter and prepare. But mwbeeler, you can do the honours if you like.
Is everyone happy to continue with a new DM? Will we restart, pick up we're we are, retcon anything?

![]() |

Either or, we could even alternate modules if you liked. I'm happy continuing where we left off, but up to the rest of you obviously. Might have to edit out my character, or have him kidnapped by drug lords.
Not trying to steal your thunder with the DMing offer or anything! Just putting my hat in the ring if you didn't really want to do it ... but I'm more than happy to play rather than DM. I'm playing in several pbp games though, so just saying I can DM if you'd rather play.
Still, let me know either way, and yeah, maybe we could alternate modules (assuming we got that far).

If we've still got Pat / Lyssa, we should be good even with Bynoc being gone. If not we've got...
Fighter
Druid
Cleric
ScoutThink that is enough or should we advertise for another to be worked in later?
If Lyssa is still in we have an arcane caster in her. If not, maybe we need to advertise for an arcanist, or someone can switch up their PC a bit (like me, I have a good PC for a group with all the bases covered but not so great if I need to cover one particular role).
I am gonna look at the earlier discussion on this thread and figure out who wanted in that didn't make it, so if we extend an offer we know who to offer it to with fairness.

Heathy was looking to get in, followed by Sect. If Lyssa(looks like Pat gave up on us) is out we could let them both join.
Also I say we just pick up where we were. Ask newcomers to read the thread so far and assume they were there. Do we extend an offer to Heathy and Sect?

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

I mentioned it OOC in the play thread, but I'm not happy with my warlock build, and am kind of inclined to switch to sorcerer.
I'm also willing to give a go with warlock, or switch to something else we need, if the party feels so inclined, but I'm in for the duration.

Hey, all. Just saw the activity in this thread.
Since Gobbo left, I've also started a new job, and I'm getting slammed -- so perhaps it's just as well y'all are retooling, it makes for a good time to drop.
Thanks.
Should we extend the offer to Heathy? How about asking Sect to join also? Either that or we can stay lean and I could do an arcanist of some sort. DMs decision.

Heh, ok, I’m getting confused as to who is still in and what they are playing, despite – or because of! - the discussion. :-)
So I’m going to write it out here (as I understand it).
mwbeebler: DMing duties (thankyou!)
Mothman: playing Eldin the cleric
Fake Healer: playing Terin the druid
Sean: playing Anders the warlock – thinking of changing to sorcerer.
mevers (we think!): playing Harven the scout.
And now that I’ve typed that all out, I realised that mwbeeler already stated it clearly in post a couple of days ago in the game thread, oh well!
So, it looks like either one of us divine caster types should maybe switch to a warrior type OR we advertise for a new player who’s willing to play a warrior type. If it goes to a vote I’d be more inclined to do the latter, unless anyone really WANTS to change their character. As Fakey points out, a couple of other folk expressed an interest in the game earlier, we could extend an invitation to them for starters.

mwbeeler |

Let's do both. I started a call in for a max of two more (post is currently invisible to me, hopefully that fixes itself). Go ahead and reset your chars to what you'd prefer to play, and we can gently nudge any new people in the direction of what we're lacking. Worse comes to worst, it's not as if we absolutely have to fill every niche role.
"Yar, I set the traps off with me skin!"

Ok, later today I will change Terin the Druid out for a Duskblade, Barbarian, or a Ranger. I would like some opinions on what to pick. Anyone have a preference?

Sean, Minister of KtSP |

Okay, I'll switch to sorcerer.
And I'm fine with adding people, if we want to. Especially Heathy.

mwbeeler |

Hey terrific! Now that we have blackotter and mr. shiny, we can get this show back on the road. ;)
Duskblade, Barbarian, or a Ranger. I would like some opinions on what to pick. Anyone have a preference?
All good choices, though I've never personally played a Duskblade (I have the book, just hasn't appealed to me personally. Ranger would be interesting, especially with bows and outsiders. As for barbs, I'm a big fan of "whirling fury" as opposed to rage.

Any classes that seem to be needed at the moment?

We're sort of in flux, as we "ahem" retcon a bit. I think our warlock is becoming a mage of some sort, and our druid is becoming a fighter of some sort, in addition to the cleric and the scout we have. Aight, I better go fold that laundry downstairs before my son wakes up, ha!

I'm thinking of the following:
- Binder (ToM)
- Hexblade (CW)
- Favored Soul (CD)
- Wizard (PHB)
- Savant (DMC)I honestly don't care which one. Pick one.
If you do something arcane, I will just stick with my druid.
We have a new fighter and Mr. Shiny looking all magical, so my druid can be a backup fighter/backup healer and help lessen the pressure on the cleric and the fighter.I would vote wizard but I heard that the AP is lite on wizardly resources unless the DM inserts scrolls and spellbooks into the treasures occasionally, but the utility of a wizard would be cool to have. I don't know if our warlock is going to change to an arcanist or not so maybe you 2 should discuss.
IMO, of course.

I'll go with that. The concept I was going for is a bit unconventional, and I think it should fit well.

Question: Do we want to roll back to the manor for a meet and greet, or would you rather begin at the docks and jump directly into action?
I vote for a bare-bones summary of activity up to the docks and continue from there. The outcome will be the same anyway, we get to the docks.

Red Warrior needs ale badly!
Seann does look cool. I assume you are aiming at some kind of Eldritch Knight / Abjurant Champion final build??
Since you are a specialist transmuter, and have chosen not to summon a familiar, you should look at taking the Sudden Shift option from PHB2. Basically, instead of a familiar, you gain the option, as a swift action, of gaining a Swim, Fly or Climb speed equal to your landspeed for a round. It looks pretty good.

mwbeeler |

You know I forgot to mention we started on a 32 point buy, but personally, as long as we get things moving, I could care at this point.
For some odd reason languages don't carry over in the profiles, could you post yours Tyndal. Also, if Seann could post remaining cash that'd be perfect. I was going to start last night, but couldn't focus due to another headache (stupid humidity). Hope to have things moving before bed today, if everyone feels they are set?

mwbeeler |

Languages have been posted, right above his background. He knows Common and Giant.
Aha, so they are, thanks. :)
Okay, just for you mwbeeler, I will try and post soon.
What do people think? A sorcerer or a swashbuckler?
No worries, didn't mean to rush you; I'll wait until all the new character concepts are set in stone. I've got the story pickup ready, just chime in when we're set.

Up to you, we seem to have all bases covered so whatever you think is more fun.
