The awesome power of nostalgia and bandcamp means that I have listened to a lot of Set Fire to Flames - Telegraphs in Negative/Mouths Trapped in Static lately.

I've also been listening to Kerosone 454 for further nostalgia.

And new Bjork, because Bjork: Also...360degree music video, because Bjork. I love Bjork.

Dirty Fan Male, a collection of letters written to Nineties/Noughties 'Glamour Models', some set to music and some read out in stupid voices.

Some people (like me) find this sort of thing very funny; others may find it incredibly annoying and/or disturbing.

All of the below are NSFW, obvs.

Richard Shindell - "A Summer Wind, A Cotton Dress"
Richard Thompson - "I Feel So Good"
Rollins Band - "Volume 4"
Ashtray - "Drinking Song (I Wanna Get Drunk)"

Starting to work my way back from the addition to instrumentals. They still make up most of my current playlists, but I've found a few other things I'm enjoying right now.

Current album of choice is Fear of a Unique Identity by UK melancholic rock band Antimatter.

Their first couple of albums kind of bordered the line between melodic goth rock and trip hop, often with female guest singers, but the later stuff moved towards melancholy acoustic rock. I love it all, but at the moment I'm just listening to the later stuff.

Paranova
Monochrome
Firewalking
Here Come The Men
A Place in the Sun

Listening to another mix of the following bands.
Switchblade Symphony
Black Tape For a Blue Girl
London After Midnight
Bauhaus
Eva O
Gitane Dimone
Skinny Puppy
K.M.F.D.M
Legendary Pink Dots

Made me think, stream-of-consciousness-wise, of The Undertones.

The other day, on the way to work, I heard Modern Love on two different radio stations at the same time.

I also heard, on two different stations, Refugees within a 20 minute period, and, on the way home, same thing with Smells Like Teen Spirit

Despite liking all three of these songs, the limited playlists of corporate radio still suck!

Was listening to (the corporate) "Boston's voice of new music and independent radio" yesterday and the deejay went

"And that was a new one by Wilco, coming up soon, Weezer with Thursday's Throwback, but first, the latest from Blur!"

and I was, like, Jesus, am I twenty again?

Todd Rundgren's Utopia

When I was very small, I had a very particular idea of what all 1970s music sounded like, and Todd Rundgren comes closest to it.

There was nothing in the house except folk music and late '60s stuff like the Kinks, Beatles, etc. at that point.

Yes to Damon Albarn's lovely/weird voice...as well as the weirdness that is Rundgren!

and Here is an awesome cough drop commercial!

A riff, in three parts:

We ain't got nothing yet - the Blues Magoos

Ricky Nelson - Summertime

Deep Purple - Black Night

Did (1) and (3) just pinch it off Ricky, or is it an old blues riff or summat? I dunno.
