Paizo Publishing Announces Monty Python's Spamalot Grail Giveaway

Find Twelve Hidden Grails, Win Fabulous Prizes!

Paizo Publishing has partnered with the smash hit Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot to give away Python-themed prize packs to readers of Dragon, Dungeon, and customers of Paizo Publishing's e-commerce site, paizo.com. Prizes include Monty Python DVDs, CDs, t-shirts, empty halves of coconuts, and a variety of Spamalot gift items sold at the show on Broadway. Prize packs will be given at random to fifty of the entrants.

Twelve grails have been hidden in three locations: five grails in April Dungeon (#145), five grails in April Dragon (#354), and two grails on paizo.com. Examples of what the grail looks like can be found on page 10 in Dungeon #145, page 11 in Dragon #354 and online at paizo.com/grailgiveaway. Please note that the grails listed in those locations are not hidden, and will not count as one of the twelve locations.

Legibly note the locations of all twelve grails in either an email or postcard. Emailed entries should be sent to contest@paizo.com with the subject line "Grail Giveaway" and postcards should be mailed to Grail Giveaway, 2700 Richards Road Suite 201, Bellevue, WA 98005. No purchase necessary to enter. Void where prohibited. All entries must be received by April 30, 2007.

Same here, found 1 fairly quickly.

Not even looking. I'm embarrassed to admit this on an admittedly dork-oriented board, but I can't stand Monty Python.

Note that the e-mail address is actually "contest@paizo.com" - if you use the plural version, your e-mail will not get through! (This error is repeated on the paizo.com/grailgiveaway page and on the news item announcing it.)

D'oh! Umm. Yeah. That was part of the contest, guessing the correct email address. Yeah, that's the ticket.....

Fixed now. Thanks for the heads-up.

I know all the changes to Dragon/Dungeon have rocked the RPG community. Pathfinder looks great and I have already signed up. But its already May 2, when can we get a list of winners for the Grail Giveaway?

I have endured enough heartbreak over the past 10 days or so--coconuts may help me go on.

Cheers!

Soon! :-)

I'm pretty sure I found at least 4 of the Grails in Dragon. But I'll admit Dungeon completely stumped me. Where the heck were they?

"Come see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I'm being repressed!"

I mean to say, any word on the winners?

Yes, let's hear who won. Don't make us resort to saying "$hru&&@ry"!

"The swallow may fly south with the sun, or the house martin or the plover seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land."

Are any of the prizes migratory?

King of Swamp Castle: One day, lad, all this will be yours.
Prince Herbert: What, the curtains?

Any word on the "one day" when winners will be announced?

GALAHAD: I seek the Grail! I have seen it, here in this castle!
DINGO: No! Oh, no! Bad, bad Zoot!
GALAHAD: What is it?
DINGO: Oh, wicked, bad, naughty Zoot! She has been setting alight to our beacon, which, I just remembered, is grail-shaped. It's not the first time we've had this problem.

If you will not show us the Grail we shall storm your castle.

Arthur: (to Bedevere) What happens now?
Bedevere: Well, now, uh, Lancelot, Galahad and I, uh, wait until nightfall,
and then leap out of the rabbit, taking the French, uh, by surprise.
Not only by surprise, but totally unarmed!
Arthur: *Who* leaps out?
Bedevere: (pointing to each knight as he names him) Uh... Lancelot, Galahad,
and I.... uh, leap out of the rabbit, uh, and, uh....
Lancelot: (groans)
Bedevere: (pause) Oh... um, look, if we built this large wooden Badger....

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST TELL ME WHERE THE GRAILS WERE IN APRIL's DUNGEON.

Ahem, really, I'm starting to think it was just another part of the joke...

This is what I found in Dungeon. The grail on 92 was in a Kyle Hunter picture and had to be interrupted a bit. The others were nearly identical except for size and the one on 98 was translucent.

1) Page 4 located upper left of page following issue number and month
2) Page 6 located lower right next to text "Editor-in-Chief"
3) Page 26 located middle right following text "his own shoulders"
4) Page 92 located on Ogre's right shoulder by sword.
5) Page 98 the Deep Grotto Map of Mystery lower left corner by text "Underground Lake"

Our official announcement of the winners will happen by Friday. Prizes will take 4-to-6 weeks to arrive.

AND we'll make note of all grail locations. :-)

I WON!!!!! Too Cool! That's great news, I really struggled with a couple of the grails, Paizo certainly didn't make it easy! Congrats to the other 49 winners!

Well, now I feel foolish. Thanks, it had been bugging me.

So, 3 Fridays have passed since Joshua Frost wrote that winners would be announced on Friday. Did I miss a post elsewhere on the site?

5 weeks have passed since I received notice of being one of the winners. What's the latest on that winner's list?

Make that now 9 weeks... Has this contest just been dropped with the demise of the magazines? No winners list has been released that I have seen, and I have yet to receive any prize.

Scarab Sages

You know, just the other day I was looking at the PDF from one of Dungeon's Maps of Mystery and found one of those hidden images. At first, I thought I was going crazy, but then remembered this contest.

Brother Maynard: [studies the runes] It's Aramaic.
Galahad: Of course! Joseph of Arimathea!
Lancelot: Of course!
Arthur: What does it say?
Maynard: It reads, 'Here may be found the last words of Joseph of Arimathea: "He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the Holy Grail in the Castle of Aaaaarrrgh"'.
[pause]
Arthur: What?

That's weird that I never noticed the grail in the map. It really surprised me when you pointed it out.

It's now 13 weeks since I was contacted, still no prize & no winners list.

Yeah, I was notified that I was one of the winners in early August. Nothing in my mailbox yet.

I just got an email from Mr Frost (after weekly badgering... normal badgers, not wooden) that "prizes will ship this week".

I'll believe it when I hold it in my grubby little hands.

No word on a list of winners, though.

I just received my Spamalot prizes - thanks! I particularly liked the "I'm not dead yet" T-shirt, which has a multitude of uses. And the directions for using the coconut halves actually made me laugh out loud...

I really enjoy the Paizo competitions - long may they run!

I just received my Spamalot prizes too. I opened the box with my wife and we had a great laugh. Like the last poster, I thought the T-shirt was great. I'm not sure if I should eat the spam or put it on a shelf to look at. I can't thank you guys enough. Any chance you could have more contests either online or in the Pathfinder monthly editions?

Woo hoo! I just opened my 3rd place prize package. I'm going to be "riding" down the halls at work tomorrow morning. Thanks, Paizo!

I finally received my box of MPS goodies as well, absolutely awesome! Thanks Paizo!
