Soon, very soon, I will be making the trip back to the Homeland (aka, Michigan) and getting together with my old high school gaming buddies. Most of these guys haven't played D&D in about 10 years so are unfamiliar with the 3.5 ruleset. My plan is to run them through The Red Hand of Doom.
Given their experience level, I want to hand them a filled out character sheet for 6th level characters such that they can read the sheets and be ready to go. I'm wondering if there are any beginner character sheets out there (free or otherwise) that have basic information about class abilities. e.g., the rogue character sheet would have a short summary of sneak attack, the barbarian character sheet would have a short summary of rage, etc. Any ideas?

I think what you're looking for is the Deluxe Character Sheets from WotC. It has all class abilities on it, all the skills are marked and marked for cross-classing, and as a plus it has the basic tables such as exp. BAB, etc. It also comes with spell sheets for all the core classes and the blackgaurd and assassin spell sheets.

I'd say the biggest hurdle for anyone experienced with the basic concept, but not totally into the system, is tracking all the modifiers and bonuses. Just having everything tallied together into a nice, final number to add (or subtract) to their rolls makes things so much easier. It's not as much of a problem at lvl 6 as, for example, 20 of course.. but you might want to check out the dungeon delve char sheets for inspiration:

They are running Characters with Class, focussed on very beginning characters, over on the WotC site. While it isn't a character sheet, it might help you remember what's confusing to a new player.
When we introduced new players at a local library teen night, we made custom "cover sheets" in MS Word explaining key abilities. We also wrote out things like "Roll d20 and add 6 when sneaking" for a character with a +6 sneak. Use the cover sheet for the core elements and most frequent abilities. As they continue, they can delve down to the real character sheet and make the connections.
