I am involved in an online "virtual tabletop" project that should be fully up and running by mid January. It is cross platform and will have built in voicechat, maps, miniatures (tokens,) fog of war, etc. An online preview/demo is available at www.rpgtonight.com The sound features are not available for the demo, but you can create gamerooms, play around with the interfaces, and play a game if you don't mind type chat (or have Skype or some other voice chat program). It should be up and running without interruption for several days.
We are seriously interested in feedback from online rpg players and others after they have a look at it. Ex Ghostorb members may want to check it out.
The virtual tabletop will remain free after the site opens.

You might head over to the Batlegrounds RPG forum and ask them to test it out as well. BRPG is also a virtual tabletop app, but it's not free. The developer welcomes other apps to check him out, grow off of each other, etc. He's a very friendly guy, and BRPG is a nice app as well.

Battlegrounds is very good. I think that Heruca once offered to list our site when it is up. We don't consider ourselves competition, since we're working on a different animal made for a different purpose.
Hopefully, online play will become more popular as developers figure out how to make their programs easier to use and closer to the face to face tabletop experience.

I'll help out by making your link clickable:
I plan on checking it out sometime tonight in depth and will try to post some feelings on it afterwards.

And a double-confirm on GhostOrb. I was a mod for their forum, and the whole site just up and disappeared around the end of November or so. The other sites of the owner (Mad Hermit Games, Cold Steel Reign) are gone as well. GO had been having some severe development issues--looks like it was too much for them to continue operation.

It looks very interesting, Obb. I created an account over there and poked around a bit. Still not 100% sure how to use everything, especially the buttons that allow you to draw squares and circles on the map. I tried using them but didn't see anything change. I know you guys are still in a testing phase so I'm sure it'll be fixed at some point. All in all, good stuff. My friends from out-of-state and I have been searching for a good online gaming medium and I think we may have to give your site a try when its all up and running. Thanks!

Click the button (say, tsqr), click the map where the upper left corner wants to go, click the map again where the lower right corner goes, wait for map to refresh. If you are making a transparent shape, make sure the map has an opaque cover over it first (which just makes the map appear darker to the GM. For an opaque shape, you obviously don't want the opaque cover there already.
PS: This doesn't work on the old parchment map that appears when you first open the site. You have to load one of the sample maps.
PPS: A map always has an opaque cover when it is first loaded.

I'd be glad to list you on my site's links section, even if you were a direct competitor. I just want to see what you're offering first, and even though I've been to your site a couple of times, I haven't registered yet, and thus haven't seen your toolset.
Might I suggest that you post screenshots of your interface so that people can see what it's like without having to create an account?
