Just last night I finished reading the Greater Halls adventure and am interested in the basic story of the Maures. I've never read anything relating to them until now. This is what I picked up from the latest Maure adventure: the family was one of powerful wizards (and possibly clerics) of an ancient civilazation (possibly Suel) from which they fled for some reason. In all likelihood, the Maures ruled a part of their new domain with great success with the aid of their demonic patrons and magical might. As is typical in such a tale, their pride got the better of them and they became decadent and careless. The adventure mentioned a certain catastrophe that ultimately caused the Maures' downfall, likely orchestrated by some demon prince or other (Malcanthet, likely).
So did I get anything totally wrong? Any juicy details that are worth remembrance?

Werent they betrayed by one of their own? I cant remember which issue it is but it was the Maure Castle level before this latest one, they talk about something like that. I would like to hear the whole story too, it sounds really interesting but some of the joy may be in pieceing together the story.

Hello!
Well, you are both right about the betrayal. One of their own who was in league with the aformentioned Demoness, but the story has a deeper pattern than even that. Piecing it together will be the ultimate joy of solving a long-dead mystery, and thus perhaps discovering the secret power of the Maure Family itself. And I don't want to give up too much on that too soon, it'll spoil the gruel. :)

Oh, I didn't realize that you haven't disclosed much more than I already know. I figured that there were a slew of earlier Maure adventures; I'd never ask a great storyteller to give away an ending halfway thru the tale!
Tequila - If you haven't already, also read Dungeon issues #112, #124, and the 1st edition module WG5; they all contain (a bit) more information on the Maure's.

And of that I thank you sir, and I guarantee to deliver the goods as promised. If I only had two of me, then my many projects would proceed more swiftly, but with my own publishing concern beckoning as well, the most I will be able to produce in a year are 3 MC adventures, and I am not sure if DUNGEON has more inclination at this time for more than 2/year.

Unfortunately for us... Any idea when the next few will be out? Sometime in '07? The reason I'm asking this is that I want to start my party on MC soon, but the more I read (GH is great, BTW!) the more I want the whole thing in my hands before we start! But that won't work, don't think. I'm thinking my party will in all likelihood go through only part of MC. :-(
Oh well. Some Maure is better than no Maure!

Hi Greg--
That is best asked of James Jacobs. I will be turning over two adventures in the series on or before March, so how he schedules the material is then up to him.
I will follow that with two more within 2-3 months after that.
Let's see:
That's 4 levels in the original
Chambers
Greater Halls
+4
That's ten in all (levels).
Hopefully with only a couple more thereafter Paizo can then consider doing the hardbound compilation, but again, that's up to Erik and James to figure out.
