New Player and Fate Points

Age of Worms Adventure Path

So between SoLS and TPoRH I lost a player and gained a new one. Now 3 members of the party have fate points and one doesn't. My current ruling is that he wasn't there so he couldn't get the fate points, but I can also see things from his perspective of why do the other characters have this cool ability.

Anyways I'm going with the "thats the way the cookie crumbles" theory for now but thought I solicit other opinions.

Thanks,

That's actually been the way that I've run it so far.. Even had a new player join in Redhand after losing an old one and he doesn't feel too upset about not having the Uber-deific power of fate. However, I've been questioning how powerful these rerolls are and whether or nor PCs should ever receive more..

(See my similiar, recent thread here about source of FP)

That seems strange. Characters don't start with a fate point (when you say fate point is this like the Warhammer RPG's version of them, a d20 thing or something you made up yourself?). I started using Action Points in my AoW game and the players really seem to like them.

I would give the new player some fate points if it really seems to be hindering his ability to enjoy the campaign. So as not to diminish the points the other PCs have, I'd give the new guy some fraction of the average fate point total in the party. Half, perhaps?
