Hey,
I was hoping I could get some insight from people who have already played/DMed this one. I'm currently running my party through Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, and had always planned to run them through MC after they were done. I figure they'll be 14th to 15th level when they get there. The problem is, I was skimming issue 112 yesterday and realised that the module calls for a level 12 party. I still want to run it, but I'm wondering if it will be too easy to start off. (One of the reasons I want to run it will be that I want them up around 17th or 18th level when they are done - or more, if Paizo publishes more levels before my party gets there.)
Does anyone think that MC will be too easy for 14th or 15th level characters? Should I boost the main encounters a few CRs in order to keep that in line? Or are most of the encounters tough enough as it is? (I'm thinking of the big battle in the chapel on Kerzit's Fane - that's capable of being a pretty nasty encounter IIRC.)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Greg

Read some of the threads in the archives. The place can be a meatgrinder, but there are tips on boosting Eli, Shyrg, etc. Boost the trap DC by a couple, as well.
I have some other ideas if you like. What's the party makeup?
Right now the party is a Clr10, Psi5/Sor5, Wiz8, Ftr10 and a newly minted and unscathed Pal8 (just rolled up at the end of last night's game on account of the player's Ftr9/Rog1 getting caught in the middle of a troll double-team). Given that there is still a ways to go before the end of RttToEE, its entirely possible that these won't even be the same characters that go to MC. But that's where we stand now. But like I said, I fully expect them to be around 14th level by the time all is said and done.
The reason why I'm bringing this up is that I'm actually back-converting MC to 3.0 from 3.5 (sounds kinda odd, I know but we're still on 3.0 rules), and I just started looking at NPC power levels the other day. With a wife, 3 kids and a dog, there isn't a lot of time in my life for this kinda prep work, so I figured I should start it early.
Any ideas would be great! Thanks,
Greg
