Ok. I exaggerate, and *no* offence intended against anyone in special. It is just that I am wondering what this thread is supposed to be.
Differerent people, different tastes, different opinions. As I take it, this thread was never intended to make people persuade about the "one true bard class". All of us play D&D, all of us like the bard class more or less. All of us have the possibility to tweak the class to our liking if we do not like it.
Critisizing others' perception of the class does not make much sense to me. If this was the way things are meant to be: why not starting to critisize that Forgotten Realms are un-tolkienish, or why not question Fantasy as a whole? Who can imagine wizards, elves, and dragons? I never saw any here in Germany, so why should I ever play a wizard?
This thread could have been considerably shorter if just everyone stated his opinion and be finished. I barely see any new contribution during the last few days, almost just repetitions of old arguments...
What bothers me most is the question if I should ever again make the effort to research rule information for someone in here (way further up in this thread), i.e. spend any effort on answering questions in here. Is anyone interested at all in receiving answers or is this all just about rambling (in the hope of listeners/ readers). Does anyone care for his/ her own rule question if everyone pants for the highest rank in the "Who knows the truest bard" debate?
My proposal: Open a new thread, call it "debate of the week" and rave about the best bard, the siliest spell, the worst improvements over 2nd edition and so one.
And then spare other threads (and readers) with these topics.
Just my few cents,
Günther
