These are the books of the Lesser Dragons, beasts who dwell in the shadows of the greater wyrms of legend and lore.
Some herein are the progenitors of the whole species, remnants of a time before the dragons were the masterly lords they have become. Still some others have forgotten what they knew and descended from the power of their ancestors. They have become less than their mighty for bearers. They are every bit as magical, sometimes intelligent, but above all else they are dragons and dangerous creatures to cross or malign. Indeed, some would account these lesser drakes as far more dangerous, for they are driven by primeval forces, forces far greater than those conjured by the wise. They are driven by instinct and they feed on the fear of men.
These lesser drakes take many shapes and sizes, and they have many abilities, but they can be classifiedby their primary method of attack!
Herein are presented the miasmal wyrms, foul creatures who secrete poison through glands in their skin, acids in their breath, whose mouths are so infected with rot that to suffer a bite from one is to invite a slow and painful if not maddening death. The miasmal wyrms are feared by all for they are predacious, aggressive hunters and their victims die in agony and sufferance. From the river banks where dwell the Tagean Wyrm to the forest deeps where the Nakal hunt to the deserts and the feared Lial Beast the miasmal wyrms are everywhere. They are horrid creatures. The vomit of the Unk Wyrm, consisting of a foul paste of ground-up meal, burns away the flesh of its victim. The Crup Wyrm’s bite carries fresh-born larvae who infest victims, eating away at the flesh of those unfortunate. The Lial Beast’s breath weapon is so atrocious and acidic that it causes blood vessels to swell and explode. Horrid beasts of pestilence and poison, the miasmal wryms are feared by all.
The Dragons of Aihrde: Miasmal Wyrms launches a new series for your Castles & Crusades role playing game and brings to you a host of altogether new and different dragons. The miasmal drakes range from the great Chcrup whose guttural calls can be heard for many miles in open steppes and deserts to the deeps to the lessar Nakal dragons whose ability to camouflage is unmatched in the wilderness. Within these pages you’ll find everything you need to know about the miasmal dragons, from their vital statistics, to their ecology.
Also included new items, magic and mundane to flesh out your game as well as symbiotic creatures such as the Dragon Men of Kaath.
Dragons of Aihrde: Miasmal Wyrms is not campaign specific, but integrates easily with any ongoing home brew campaign. Each entry comes complete with a separate heading for “The Creature in Aihrde” that can be used or discarded as needed.

The world of Aihrde spins upon an earth-like axis of ancient civilizations where good and evil have struggled for countless years. It is a world that bears the markings of its past; where ancient evils slumber, stained with the power of eldritch wizardry; where gods dwell in bejeweled halls of wonderment, worshiped by men and women of all creeds; where dragons live in great dens of heaped treasure; where the new stands upon the ruins of the old in beds of ancient glory. Here, kingdoms have risen and fallen, ground to dust by war, famine, plague or time.
Aihrde is a world reborn, and in the After Winter Dark heroes tread in iron shod boots and wizards lean on crooked staffs to plunder the buried wealth and power of the ages. Here, the eternal struggle goes on, age after age, for Aihrde is a world of adventure, of undaunted heroes, untainted by the decadent philosophies of those meek who suffer in the shadows of lesser men. For here the stone columns of history are wiped clean, awaiting the bold to carve their mark and gain entry to the halls of immortality.
Aihrde Fantasy Campaign Setting Book includes the following:
- A complete discussion of the geography of the World of Aihrde, including all major landmasses, oceans and seas. More complete information is supplied on the region known as the Cradle of the World with descriptions of all the significant terrain features.
- The cultural landscape of Aihrde and its peoples from the early dwarves, trolls, giants and humans to the late blooming elves, halflings, orcs and gnomes. This is followed by a thorough examination of the political bodies that dominate the Cradle of the World.
- The Cosmological Landscape unfolds with a complete description the origins of the world, the gods, the heavenly bodies and the planes. This section is much more detailed than that presented in the short player's manual of Aihrde.
- An overview of the history of Aihrde from its earliest creation when the Sentients dominated the world to the present aftermath of the Winter Dark Wars.
Aihrde is a unique setting whose cosmos and history are carefully woven in order to supply the beleagured Castle Keeper with everything they need to have to run a game in a setting of high fantasy. At the same time, the advent of the Winter Dark Wars has left the world new and recovering from a thousand-year tyranny, a happenstance that allows the Castle Keeper to take the raw material that is herein presented and recast it to his own desire and design.
