Settler's of Catan celebrates their 15th anniversary with a new edition!

Publishers love anniversaries, because they provide opportunities to celebrate their success stories with new special editions, like the Super-Deluxe 40th Anniversary Collectors' Edition of The Who's Live at Leeds that I got for Christmas. And so it is that Mayfair Games is celebrating the 15th anniversary of Settlers of Catan—one of the most successful board games in history—with a new deluxe all-wood edition!

This modern classic, an international favorite, has redefined social board games. Now you can enjoy settling and building Catan using specially tooled wooden pieces! Guide your brave settlers to victory by using clever trading and development. Use resources (grain, wool, ore, brick, and lumber) to build roads, settlements, and cities, and buy development cards. Acquire your resources through trades or the roll of the dice. But beware! You never know when someone might cut off your road, or if the robber will appear and steal your precious gains. Are you the best trader, builder, or settler?

The strong, compartmentalized wooden box contains 52 thick, beautifully illustrated map hexagons, 144 specially designed playing pieces, 6 hexagonal building costs summaries, 2 special victory point markers, 1 vile robber, 2 dice, and 28 random number chits—all made out of wood! It also includes 154 cards that, like the hexes, bear fine artwork from Michael Menzel. Enjoy this special, limited production—suitable for travel or your nicest coffee table—with friends or family members for many decades to come.

I need to get this. Love Catan.

Has it only been 15 years?
I remember playing this at a games expo in Birmingham in the early 90s. I assumed it had been around in Germany for years before that.
The components were all as we know them, no prototype proxies, and we only had the rules in German, but we muddled through, and I gave it the thumbs up.

I was about to say the Same... I would have sworn this game was older then 15 years.

What is this wool you speak of? OOOHHH... you mean Sheep. As in, the resource that the creepy Sheepmaster holds dear to his chest. Please, beware the Sheepmaster's barn... and when he asks to trade clay for wood.
