The time has finally come for the Ruby Phoenix Tournament! Eight teams of the world's greatest fighters have qualified for the grand tournament and must now compete to win a prize from the grand treasure vault of Hao Jin, the Ruby Phoenix. The player characters will need to muster skill, strength, and style in order to overcome their rivals and impress the audience in a variety of fighting bouts. But when their greatest rivals disrupt the tournament by summoning an ancient terror from the ocean's depths, it's up to the players to put a stop to the rampaging monster before it destroys the city of Goka!

“Ready? Fight!” is a Pathfinder adventure for four 15th-level characters. This adventure continues the Fists of the Ruby Phoenix Adventure Path, a three-part monthly campaign in which the players compete in Golarion's most amazing fighting tournament. This adventure also includes lore of the monstrous kaiju that dwell in the world's darkest corners, a gazetteer of the eastern trading metropolis of Goka, and a roster of new monsters.

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world's oldest fantasy RPG.

4/5

Legitimately the best point based system I have ever seen by in a paizo product.

there is a bit of a schism that really begins in this book from what the AP presents and what it turns into later.

The inversion of what a battle map is really elevates the texture of some of these tournament rounds.

Balanced book and amazing fights

5/5

The first 1/3rd of the book is about exploring Goka, meeting your fellow teammates, and trying to impress sponsors. It both ties into what the characters want to do (get better for the tournament) but also serves as a break with ample moments for great roleplaying.

The second 1/3rd is the actual tournament, here the players can bet money on their favourite teams and then fight against many diverse teams. For my group it was a bit on the easier side for many fights but that isn't neccesarily bad as it makes it feel like the players are very strong and cool vs the weaker opponents and as they rise they face more challenging teams.

The final 1/3rd Godzilla shows up and they have to go through the city while they are wrecking havoc. Definitely the weakest part of the book but it was still great fun and all of it was very cool so far.

Extremely anime in the best way

5/5

I had my doubts about how a fighting tournament could be kept interesting over several sessions, but this book proved me wrong.

The first chapter uses the influence subsystem to the best of its capabilities, making the players really get to know the sponsors along with the city of Goka.

The second chapter is all combat, but contains enough interesting twists with each fight to keep things fresh. You'll definitely want to go into each fight with a VERY solid plan of how the enemy team will act though.

The last chapter deals with the ramifications of a kaiju attack. A KAIJU! It's as epic as it sounds. This is exactly what high-level play in a TTRPG should look like.

I have no recollection of AP books ever getting a reprint, so probably never, unless you count the second hand market. Sorry!

Because the whole AP sold very well, they did release an hardcover compilation here though.
(I do admit that this is not helpful if you are only missing this middle book, or are a collector. Sorry. That's the best I can offer.)
