Wonderful city maps

Very organic, realistic feel - some clumpiness of buildings, some open spaces. Clusters of buildings along roads, even outside the city proper. Just the right amount of sprawl. Don't know anything about the setting, but I like the maps.

I know you said on your website that you evolved Mor Aldenn up from a settlement to a city, mapping it out at different points in its history - that's why it has the organic feel I like so much.

Any chance of you ever posting those sketches? I'd love to see how you did it to understand Mor Aldenn better, and to may do the same with myown cities some day.

Absolutely! Just remember, these are my own personal sketches and while they still resemble Andrew's finished map... they are far from as awesome to look at! However, it's a great idea and I'll try to get a couple of the ealiest posted today (on the HHG blog).

It won't be the very first sketch, though, as I seem to have misplaced that somewhere...

That didn't take me long... you can find three of the earliest maps by following the link above! Along with some clumsy notes on the development of Mor Aldenn from a small town to a proper city.

I hope you enjoy! Oh, and I'll try to post the remaining two maps tomorrow.
