Avast! Them dirty pirates need to be keelhauled! Arrrrr!!!

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I don't know...mortals entering the realm of "Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter" and then absconding with a soul are kind of bad for one's street cred. If that got out no one would take Hell seriously. Any mortal at all would feel they could just traipse in and help themselves to a soul or two. Bad form you know.

An entity with Demogorgon's resources will have plenty of back doors and failsafes in place.

I imagine he has more aspects out there.

He probably has clones standing by....some of which will doubtlessly appear right in the middle of rival princes' territories.

Orcus was killed a whole lot worse than Demogorgon and he came back just fine.

Hello,

I've seen in Princes of Darkness that the "Blood Emperor, third of the vampires" slumbers in Maleboge.

Does it mean a background on the origins of Golarion's vampires exists (and I missed it), or is it an allusion to a background to be published?

It's a secret. Now you'll have to be eliminated for knowing too much. Silly mortal.

I was really amazed to see the long list of creatures that manticores can breed with and produce hybrids. Amazed....and perversely intrigued.

Tell me I'm not the only one to instantly imagine an adventure that takes on a manticore and its entire harem of concubines.

Let me stir the can a little more.

Why should someone who is more or less happy with 3.5 and all the stuff he/she had bought for it switch to Pathfinder?

What's in Pathfinder that makes it a must have? I know the answer of this one for myself but I'm interested in what y'all think.

...And as many well know, this is not the first time one of the heads has hatched a scheme against the other one. For this very reason I think many shrewd DMs have thought of ways to introduce the Cathezar and Nurn into this AP. Into the Maw is ideal for their involvement as is Wells of Darkness.

Um, sorry, you completely lost me.

Sorry, my bad. I was referencing Bastion of Broken Souls, a 3.0 adventure for 18th level PCs written by Bruce Cordell. Two of the primary characters are the Cathezar, a half-demon/half-devil assassin working for the Aamuel head and Nurn, a death slaad rogue who works for the Hethradiah head.

Spoiler:
In the adventure the Aamuel head is trying to absorb the Hethradiah head by absorbing "a demonic soul supercharged with life energy". Namely a half-fiend great wyrm red dragon named Ashardalon who has bound a living balor into his body to replace his heart, which was torn out by a foe. It's a pretty damn cood scenario.

I could easily see a disaffected Cathezar as a prisoner in Into the Maw or an agent of Malcanthet in Wells of Darkness. Nurn is even easier to work in since the Savage Tide is Hethradiah's pet project.

Savage Species has a 1-20 level progression that allows you to play a ghaele eladrin from 1st level. It's supposed to spread out the powers, granting them at appropriate levels.

My wife is going to play one.

Whilst auditing the class and making some changes to update it to 3.5 I noticed that at 7th level these things can become incorporeal globes of light. Incorporeal.

Plus, a gaze attack that affects 1 HD evil creatures that forces them to save or die. Save or die. And even if they save they are affected by fear.

Part of me screams "broken"! But the part of me that enjoys my wife's love is determined to forge ahead and make do.

My request for this post is A) I know that it's broken so don't go on about it; and B) Help me think of ways to deal with/overcome this challenge.

All input appreciated.

While I like the unified Combat Maneuver Bonus replacing the grapple bonus and whatnot, I still vastly prefer opposed rolls. I think they maintain a level of uncertainty in the game.

I don't think the flat DC system breaks the game or anything. I just like opposed rolls better. They seem more dramatic to me. More like a real struggle.

How 'bout you?

I love rage points. Rage points =versatility and flexibility which are very good things. You can't achieve this versatility/flexibility with a powers/day mechanic.

Keep rage points. Yawp!

Damage dealing for higher level fighter types is suggested to be a little low and eclipsed by spellcasters. Perhaps a simple feat (requiring Good BAB progression or something like that) could change this.

Improved Natural Attack from the MM advances the die used for a monster's damage rolls. Why not make a similar feat for weapons.

Example: selecting "Improved Weapon Attack" for the longsword would upgrade it from 1d8 to 2d6 damage. Obviously a prerequistie would be needed to restrict it to a medium or higher level character (perhaps BAB +7).

Just a thought.

What do you think?

Come on...you've got to be kiddin' me!

Oh well, at least I have a vorpal sword.

Which probably doesn't have enough plusses to overcome the damned morkoth's DR.
