The March gameday is up on Warhorn now.

http://www.warhorn.net/warlords/

Two new mods:
PSS-43 The Pallid Plague (Lvl 1-7)
PSS-44 Echoes of the Everwar—Part III: Terror at Whistledown (Lvl 7-11)

And the two recently announced retiring mods in case anyone wants to grab them on the way out.

PSS-10 Blood at Dralkard Manor (Lvl 1-7)
PSS-15 The Asmodeus Mirage (Lvl 1-7)

By the way ConDor was a success this year for PFS. I was hoping for 12 tables total and we had 20. Plus I had a lot of people approached me about starting new PFS characters. I hope to see them at the next gameday.

It's been a while since I did a reminder on these boards, but the Pathfinder Society continues to gain momentum in San Diego. At our February gameday, Saturday the 21st at Game Empire, we'll be offering two more Pahfinder Society adventures.

You can pre-register to play at http://www.warhorn.net/warlords/

We're offering PSS-11 The Third Riddle and PSS-12 Stay of Execution respectively in the two slots.

We already have enough players for two tables of each, but we still have some room, and I'll find another judge if needed. So, if you're interested in playing Pathfinder Society adventures in San Diego, come on down and play! :-)

Just played this last night as a round zero for an upcoming gameday. In general, I enjoyed the mod, but it is overpowered. That's already been discussed so I'll leave it be.

However, there is a technical problem that I plan to change for our gameday. Specifically, one of the already tough critters is advanced incorrectly.

Spoiler:

The assassin vine was advanced to 12 HD, which should make it, technically, a CR 6 creature. But if you give it the "what should the CR really be" test, I believe it should be a CR 7 creature. +17 to attack, improved grab, and a grapple of +19 are far better than a CR 6 shambling mound. And, as the stats are written, that grapple should be +27 (BAB +9, Str +10, Size +8).

There are some other minor mistakes in the stat block, most in the vine's favor, but the real mistake is that someone forgot that increasing the size from Large to Huge also bumps the CR by 1. So, for CR 5, it should be an 8 HD critter, not 12 HD. It's still a tough CR 5 critter when advanced properly, but it's far more reasonable.

Here are the stats I intend to use:

ASSASSIN VINE, ADVANCED CR 5
N Huge plant
Init -1; Senses Blindsight 30 ft., low-light vision; Listen +1, Spot +1
AC 16, touch 7, flat-footed 16
(-2 size, -1 Dex, +9 natural)
hp 76 (8 HD)
Immune electricity, plant immunities
Resist cold 10, fire 10
Fort +11, Ref +1, Will +3
Speed 5 ft. (1 square)
Melee slam +13 (1d8+13)
Space 15 ft.; Reach 15 ft. (30 ft. with vine)
Base Atk +6; Grp +23
Atk Options improved grab
Special Actions constrict (1d8+13), entangle
Abilities Str 29, Dex 8, Con 20, Int —, Wis 13, Cha 9
SQ camouflage, plant traits
Blindsight (Ex) Assassin vines have no visual organs but can ascertain all foes within 30 feet using sound, scent, and vibration.
Camouflage (Ex) Since an assassin vine looks like a normal plant when at rest, it takes a DC 20 Spot check to notice it before it attacks. Anyone with ranks in Survival or Knowledge (nature) can use one of those skills instead of Spot to notice the plant. Dwarves can use stonecunning to notice the subterranean version.
Constrict (Ex) An assassin vine deals 1d8+13 points of damage with a successful grapple check.
Entangle (Su) An assassin vine can animate plants within 30 feet of itself as a free action (Ref DC 13 partial). The effect lasts until the vine dies or decides to end it (also a free action). The save DC is Wisdom-based. The ability is otherwise similar to entangle (caster level 4th).
Improved Grab (Ex) To use this ability, an assassin vine must hit with its slam attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can constrict.

Hope others can find this useful.

Another quick reminder. Our October gameday featuring the Pathfinder Society is this Saturday (the 18th) at Game Empire.

You can pre-register to play at http://www.warhorn.net/warlords/

We're offering PSS-03 Murder on the Silken Caravan and PSS-04 The Frozen Fingers of Midnight respectively in the two slots.

The first table, PSS-03, only has one player right now and could use some help. So, if you're interested in supporting the Pathfinder Society in San Diego, come on down and play! :-)

That feat would be way overpowered if it weren't defensive only.

I completely agree, which is why I'm trying to nip it in the bud.

Scimitar Master:
While wielding a scimitar, you gain a +4 bonus on opposed checks against disarm and sunder attempts. If you score a critical threat with a scimitar, you receive a +2 bonus on the confirmation attack roll.

Josh, or anyone else in the know, is the +4 bonus on disarm and sunder a defensive bonus only? Or is it offense and defense?

I believe it's defensive only, but I wanted to check.

Just a quick reminder that we are kicking off the Pathfinder Society next weekend (the 20th) in San Diego. Pre-register to play at http://www.warhorn.net/warlords/

We've had a full table round zero for each mod (or will by tomorrow night) and so far have a full table for the gameday. I've also heard from a number of other people who said they want to play, but can't make it. So, it sounds like we have at least three tables worth of players in San Diego. But the more the merrier, so come play! :-)

Ah yes, I'm doing it for a monthly gameday and two conventions. So, I'm trying to provide the initial runs of everything for the locals who want to then run them at home.

For my Pathfinder home game, I'm the judge, and we're using the APs and the beta rules. So, it's a whole different ball of wax.

But then, in "home games," it's more expected that one person is the judge and won't be playing everything. The rotating judge model does work pretty well in that case.

It'd be nice for GMs to receive some kind of recognition for their efforts.

Couldn't agree with you more. I try my best to find little ways to thank them all the time. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a Living Kalamar method of GM rewards for PFS. Burning a mod, you still got the XP and GP to apply to any character, and you would sometimes get special access.

Too bad you're not in Phoenix...I'd be in for doing that on occasion to help out some fellow gamers. That is really a pretty good idea, actually. Holler if you ever come east a little bit. :)

You guys are loaded with excellent event coordinators and judges! Heck, you even have a retired Living Greyhawk Circle member to kick around out there. :-) But thanks for the shout out!

I get out there once in a while, but it's usually a family thing for my fiancee, so I generally don't have any spare time. I certainly have lots of gaming friends out there though. To wit, "Hi everyone!" ;-)

The best solution is to rotate the GMs through the group so no one person is eating everything.

What I'm trying to do in San Diego is to get judges who aren't interested in Pathfinder Society to judge the round zeroes. I'm tapping into the RPGA 4.0 judges, almost all of whom have experiences running 3.5 games. That way, people who want to play the mods are not the ones burning them.

And, if I happen to "accidentally" hook another person on Pathfinder/Golarion along the way, so be it. :-)

I notice that you don't have any judges for the games, yet.

Although I would really like to play, I'm considering running "Silent Tide" and playing in the "The Hydra's Fang Incident."

Paris, that's appreciated, but we are running zeroes of both mods. Once the zeroes happen, we should have judges.

If you want to judge and you want to zero it first, contact me off line.

Thanks,
